They'll push forward from CM/CDM sometimes but not as consistently as midfielders with high attacking work rates imo. They won't drop back to defend as reliably as cards with high defensive work rates either.

It's a fallacy that tactics completely override work rates imo & they are important at least to me. Mainly notice it at CM/CDM on m/m cards - players like eg Zidane, Gravenberch, Jorginho will never be as involved as Bellingham, Lothar, Renato, etc.

Let's not forget CR7's strength is one of the main ingredients that makes CR7 CR7 & minus 13 from TOTY to POTM is a massive decrease.

I have a problem with m/m midfielders too. I keep trying (Gravenberch, Zidane, Jorginho etc) but it just doesn't work for me. I have an m/m ST, CAM & CB & that's fine but CM/CDM's no bueno.

I think you're right eg he's more than TOTY Kante ever was on day 1. H/h work rates compared to m/m on Gravenberch, links, but mostly hype.
