Was hoping that he'd be rested tonight, but now that Rashford has started, good to see that he's got himself a goal. Hopefully that gives him some much needed confidence after his poor form he's been in.

He'll be back on the wing soon enough when Martial is back.

Shame it doesn’t fix the formation issue

A closet Liverpool fan is the ref, from questionable refereeing decisions all season, to this, corruption at its finest....

He should've been on the wing while Martial was injured, with Greenwood leading the line.

We've all criticised Ole for that at some stage, including myself. I was just looking forwards in that post, not back.

I mean it's not a big deal that he played ST... but it's a big deal that after like 2 games of it just being absolutely horrendous that OGS continued to play him at ST despite Greenwood clearly showing he was the FAR superior option there.

Loads of reports in the last week or so saying that Ole will be given more time. Hopefully they're accurate. If we're effectively forced into making a change later in the season if these results continue, fine. But not yet. Far too early.

The same kind of reports came out before Jose, LVG got the sack. Us getting hammered by Liverpool could be the final nail in the coffin.

I'm well aware sadly, I did say hopefully they're accurate. Ole needs as many of our injured players back as possible for that game, seems like AWB and Shaw are pretty certain to be, not sure what to make of whether Pogba and Martial will be or if its one game too soon.

going by reports that Ole is safe for now, he shouldn't risk either against Liverpool. Not many are expecting us to win. So give both minutes against Partizan, and then should have a full squad available against Norwich

will have more scrutiny for failing to perform against Norwich than Liverpool as long as we don't lose heavily this weekend

Dont want them rushed back if not fully fit and recovered from injury, increase risk of relapses for both and we need both fit if we are to improve

If Pogba and Martial aren't 100% at the weekend, I'd probably agree with that. Would leave it as late as possible before making the call though. The 5 PL games after Liverpool are massive, we have a real chance to find some form in those and having both back would massively help.

Ole deserves backing until everyone is back fully fit , once everyone’s back fit he’s got no excuse for playing dire football tbh.

I don’t know about everyone else but all I ask for is an exciting attacking brand of football that’ll get fans out of there’s seats. Having our wingers take on the man get down the touch line whip in a cross let our strikers attack it.

Win , lose or draw Aslong as we’ve put in 100% and attacked teams and had a go id back ole but if he continues with the negative tactics playing 2 DM’s then I personally won’t be ole out but I won’t be backing him saying he needs this and that. When he first come in we were playing attacking free flowing football so he’s got no excuses to not do it when everyone’s fit.

Really good piece in the Telegraph on how United's recruitment process works:
Before signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace, Manchester United started out with a database of 804 right-backs. They wanted a young player, preferably British, and, given the way that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted his defence to push up, one that was also very good at so-called ‘recovery runs’ - getting back into position when possession was lost, something of a specialism for Wan-Bissaka.

A list of 50 right-backs was whittled down to a top 10 through more intensive analysis by United’s data team which is now 15-strong, compared to just one person seven years ago. That list was then passed to a technical chief scout Mick Court who, himself, is part of a team of four. Along with his colleagues he undertook the profiling of the players.

Court reduced it to a top three which was ranked as a first, second and third choice after being presented to Solskjaer and United’s recruitment department. Both have the power of veto on any transfer and if there was one of the three they did not want he would drop out and be replaced.

That list of three players was then given to United’s head of corporate development, Matt Judge. His job title is a mouthful but Judge’s key task is negotiating the terms of transfers - from what the fee will be to the player’s wages and the demands of the agent.

Piece also says sometimes a player doesn't meet Woodward until the contract is signed.

Seems to me like the process is working down until it gets to Judge tbh. He looks like the biggest problem.

So basically it was all down to judge we got told £50m for AWB then spent 3/4 weeks “negotiating “ a fee with palace then paying the initial £50m? Think someone else needs to handle the transfers then.

    Basically yeah

The issue is Judge. Not Woodward or Ole or lack of a DOF

Am I missing something here or united fans just blindly following a legend? He was playing rubbish football when he had everyone fully fit, he hasn’t played any different style no matter what players have been fit.

Both Victor and Dave starts tonight.
Just hope Victor doesn't get injuried.

Judge has to be in contact with Woodward regularly. I still believe Judge is Woodward's puppet. If Judge was to blame for all of this, why hasn't he been sacked? He is clearly underperforming.

I doubt Lindelof will get back into the first team if he gets injured.
