Help me learn my trade! (Stage 1)

Hi you lot. Every year I play FUT I strive to do somethin different (will only be my third year, i think). This year I want to learn to trade!

Doing new committal things in FUT like selling players and SBCs i always found a little unnerving at first, as i wasn't sure what i was doing. And trading is no different.

Seeing you lot chatting about the web app and trading from your starter packs to build a better team to start with inspired me to try the same. (I usually grinded out games to build coins 😥 - trading to skip this stage sound much more desirable)

So here i am. I have my starter pack, and my loyalty packs all opened. No players of any clear value. I'm nervous to start selling/buying players as i feel I'm going to mess it all up.

How do i proceed from here??

No doubt. But i imagine a lot easier said than done!

I have zero coins to buy with.

    - what players of mine do i sell?
    - do i discard them or sell them?
    - what players do i buy?
    - wat if i keep buying players and they won't sell for more?

How does one start out on this journey??

its a grind mate, i get the daily rewards to help (logging into web app only) and from there i bid for 350-400 cards, sell for 100 coins more. i invest in totw cards and wait until they rise to silly prices. Currently have 3 totw cards doing this, ofc when you build up the coins you trade with cards that are 1k+... Trade EPL players as they have the highest demand.

im only scratching the surface here. I'm sure there are better ways but this is how i do it.

Bro it's too late now. When web app first come out. You should have listed everything. Now prices range are fixed and everyone is expensive. No more supply as everyone opened their welcome back packs already. Always buy when there is supply.

Buy players not too popular but are usuable in game. Stay away very popular players and epl players in general.
You have to check for lowest bin price and get the player under that so you can sell for profit.

So like Gueye was max bin for 4k, i try to snipe/bin for 3.5k or less. I won many bids like 3k and was making 500 coins profit.
Did it with Gueye,Saravia etc. Got up to 30K and bought 3 Ben yedder before going to work

Do the SBC's, see if you get lucky.
Sell all the trash golds you got, if they don't get a bid at the lowest start price, discard them for 300 coins or so, buy players for the SBC's. It's difficult to trade on the web app, if you don't get lucky.

You can try flipping popular players too, for example I picked up a cheap Lindelof who is one of the fastest cheap CB's in the league, from the most popular team in the country. He should go up in price over the next few days.

Lol EA access comes tomorrow if everyone loads fifapoints Lindelof would be discard price. Not going up

Have you seen how poor the centre backs are from the prem this year? Demand will be higher than supply. Prices are always mad for the first few weeks. Rashford was going for like 30k last year, even though he was only 81 rated. Lindelof is going up!

Try sniping Ivory Coast players for now. High demand for some reason. I saw Kessie 79 in demand and bought 3 for 1.5-2.8k and now they are almost 7k

Thanks for all the input, guys.

So should i just discard my players for coins??

Side note - i was considering Vinicius as a player for my starter team... should i buy him now?? Will his price inflate on release?

Last year Home Liverpool and New Zealand kits were all going for 3k+ after full release. Not sure if this is going to be the case again. Prices should drop a little upon full release as almost every one will be opening packs. Those who have pre ordered are at a advantage to build up coins from Squad Battles and SBCs. IMO best time to buy would be during First 3-4 days of the release.

    Sounds like top stuff.

Hard to know what silvers to be buying.

Or hard to figure how to get th3 coins to buy them all in first place whilst at same time trying to build my team.

I started with early excess when I was 15 or 16. You should not drink alcohol at that age.

Nonrare are good, for example, you could pick up a nonrare that's required in an advanced SBC. In the elite eight/six of the best SBC's I used Ligue 1 players. I used Marcal in both SBC's, he is a cheap Brazilian left back that should go up in price because his demand will be high.

The honest truth about trading is you have to try and see for yourself. Big traders never share but main strategies are mostly known to the wide public.

But first thing is first. Forget about this topic! You don't want "tips", advices, anything but your own curious mind and passion for making coins. Advices work as long as people don't have a clue about it, but if you know it - trust me, everybody knows it. And that is bad because market will be flooded with traders.

Buy anything for lowest bin and try to sell it. When you sell it for even a small price higher - that's all to it! Just have to add 5% of EA tax. And copy-paste it 100.000 times. Get the hang of it. The interface, dynamics of daily and weekly fluctuations. The rush of seeing coins accumulate. It's a game on the top of the game.

As for the specific tehnique, it comes down to the question if you are impatient, mechanic trader or like mind games with EA and market, so you try a little bit of investing on the long run.

So just do it. Buy, sell, do it a lot and make mistakes. Don't be affraid to lose because it's just virtual coins.

Sorry If it sounds more like the inspiration (which you already have, because you are already here), than specific information and step-by-step to the big, scarry world of traders. It's intentional, because there is no such thing. Market is fundamentaly upredictable. I prefer low risk mass-bidding, and it works on wild presumption that players are too lazy to search for the lowest bin cards, and not so crazy daily price fluctuations.

    Thanks really appreciate that!

Yeah I think the slower but surer trade is the one that resonates with me. With throwing in a few gambles here and there (as opposed to main strategy).

But the thing is the fear. Like if i quick sell my whole starter squad and fail to make back coins I'll have no squad and FUT will be dead to me for the year.

I also don't think I'll manage to fnd the balance between trading and buying players for my squad. Because ill likely spend the coins to buy a player i want, but then i have to sell that player to trade.

I also don't understand what to buy... if im buying cards that are on lowest bid but no ones buying, when i sell them for more no ones going to buy them??? Like if 10 cards for 350 coins didnt get bid on, if i buy for 350 coins then sell for 550 no ones going to buy??

    Amen to that.

There are many way to make coins, be patient, don’t get discouraged when you fail to make a deal and repeat.

I made 20 k yesterday on webapp, first listing everything that would sell from starter packs. If it didn’t, than quicksell and started to look for players who are in demand but not in a major league. Sniping for 1000 and selling for 1200.

Try to diversify the range of players, if price drops on one player you still have alternatives.

Opened few bronze packs and sold whatever I could.

Keep grinding and you’ll get there.

    Cheers

Than don't quick sell starter squad. Use your common sense, and trade with small percentage of your total coin balance. That fear is there for the reason - it also protects you from foolish decisions.

Try to flip one non rare or discard rare card and sell it for small profit (100-200c). If it doesn't work, you can discard it or sell with minumum loss for lowest bin. Soon enough you will find your golden goose, and off you go.

The question about balance is smart one. I like to see profit accumulates while I play with average or slightly above average team. I've made close to 100k last year per day in the first month. I could easily afford Ronaldo but decided he was just not worth the price.

Oh wow. That would be great to be able to acheive something similar.

How did you balance your playing/trading time during that period? How much time did you have to spend trading?

I've not traded anything yet. Still on zero coins and just completed the Let's Get Started SBC.

Not sure what my next move should be.

Whether i should do more of the SBCs and which ones.

Whats the minimal amount of trades you should have listed to start out?

I quick sold 2 players to buy a player for 600, now trying to sell him at more. Got a feeling he wont sell at the price.

But know hes a player people will buy. So i will adjust. But will be a long process flipping 1 player over and over. Should i quick sell some more to buy more?

You should start by doing the SBCs in my opinion. So many random cards are worth a fair bit right now that you are bound to make money.

Do the basic ones first then try and do the advanced hybrid league, nation and league/nation. You don’t need to complete each in turn, just see what you can do and work them through. I’ve done this since last night with the odd bit of trading if a player I’m buying I’ve got on cheap (I resell and use correct player price).

So far I’m on 85k and once you get somewhere it helps further. Need money to make money. (Ps. I just bough AAA for 40k, good example of needing money to make money, I.e. 17k)

That's what i started doing, but since after the Lets Get Started they don't seem to be completable. And only giving things like position changes untradeable etc.

So i think i need to trade.

Just made my first sale. One player from my reward packs.

I bought 2 of a same player and trying to flip for 100 coin more. Haven't sold him yet. But it's a player that's always getting bid on. I'm hoping i get a sale.

Will try to identify other cheap players with a broad price range. Then hopefully be able to do that until i can flip players who cost 1k+ then try until maybe the 2- 5 players hopefully.

Only made 1 sell so far, and i wast a flip. So i have no idea yet.
  • So which players will drop and which will rise? How to predict?

I tend to just randomly pick a player that's fairly cheap. This morning it was Mason Mount. His cheapest BIN right now is 700 coins. I always just take 10% off that and buy for max that amount. So effectively 600. Search Mount, set your max bid to 550, and bid 600 on as many as you can. You might win 1 out of 4 on that. Then sell him for 700 BIN. After the 5% tax, you've made a profit of 65 coins.

Repeat repeat repeat. The more coins you have, the more Mount's you can buy- the quicker your making multiple 65 coins.

You'll then notice someone is doing the exact same as you but has a lower threshold and is bidding 650 then selling for 700 (very small profit margin!). If you find you are never winning on that player, just pick another one which i've just done (won't say who, but guaranteed someone will also be on him in the morning, and then i pick another player). You'll very quickly learn the value for half a dozen players which you can continue to buy 10% lower then the BIN. Key thing at this stage of web app is that prices fluctuate quicker. Rudiger has jumped 1500 in 4 hours. So buy quick and sell quick.

I personally don't have the time to get the best squad on UT. I just go for a decent 85 rated squad. Make yourself 30k coins and buy your team before launch day (prices rise as more coins on the market).

Do that, and then as previous people have said: if you catch the bug then you'll naturally start seeing players who rise quickly.

    Thanks! Really informative.

Hard to know what's a good player. My one seems to not sell though ive seen him go for mkre than what im selling. Might try a different player once these sell.

Also wondering if to sell most of my other players so i can trade more. Not the cleanest experience on the web app.

Maybe prices are higher then when I did them yesterday morning but this deffo worked for me. Look at MM now too, it’s basically discard value and get some good packs. Like I said lots of players are worth something right now
