Smalling is arguably better than Lindelof. Better in the air, 1v1 defending and much quicker. Has to rotate round the ball when he passes it though. Big mistake letting him go as the current batch of defenders are so bad in the air.

wow...
Lindelof is like the Luke Shaw of CBs. Looked competent because he was surrounded by garbage, but then you realise he doesn't really excel at anything? Even for a supposed ball playing CB, he rarely plays killer passes from the back or carries it forward.
On Smalling, his clumsiness means he's a little error prone when he has to move his feet quickly, but he is really quick, built like a fridge, rarely gets beat 1v1 and is great in the air.

It's amazing how he always is wrong about absolutely everything.

I mean, Smalling is better in the air, he is quicker, and he is better 1v1. He has the ability on the ball of a Sunday League player, though.
Lindelof is an okay passer, certainly nothing special, he rarely breaks the lines with passes or dribbles like Maguire does. I guess he's good positionally? He's pants in the air and not particularly fast.

Again with the whole “excel at anything” garbage argument. God forbid Lindelof is a pretty well rounded CB with 1 overall real weakness.
Your opinions and nitpicking are truly incredible.

Lindelöf is quicker then Smalling. He is 4x better positionally then Smalling. He is a great passer for a CB. Probably better then Maguire even.
More or less never give fouls.
He doesn't break line because he have had Smalling beside him most of the time.
Lindelöf is better 1v1 also.
Lindelöf have one massive weakness and that's in the air.
Smalling is worse in every other department.

Not really a garbage argument is it though? Shouldn't he be really good at a few things if he was really good? Lindelof is basically just an above average centre back that is being lauded because fans want to cling to some sort of positive, and because he doesn't make catastrophic errors every week, it means he's brilliant. Defenders like Lindelof are ten-a-penny, he's nothing special and not terrible either.

Yeah Lindelof has pushed forward several times this season now that he’s got someone reliable next to him. Lindelof has a much better tackle success rate than Smalling while conceding less fouls.
Smalling still manages to lose his fair share of headers.

Are they though? None of your players are worthy players for a title challenge except AWB, DDG, Pogba and Maguire.
I think it’s the context he’s talking about. For the level you aspire to be Shaw and Lindelof aren’t anywhere near good enough. They’re 6th-4th players at best. Neither excel at anything.
I think united fans are stuck in the thoughts of challenging for 4th thus thinking the players they have are good enough, but they aren’t. So I don’t see how negative comments can be bitten at so easily.
However it is a rebuild, so you have to accept the likes of McMarmite, Shaw, Lindelof, Rashford etc will never be good enough for the elite level but are okay for now to try and get back into top 4.
Valencia gone.
Sanchez loaned out.
Lukaku gone.
Smalling move imminent.
Darmian move in the pipeline.
Matic not playing, overtaken by McTominay.
Tuanzebe brought into the senior team, overtaken all our backups as 3rd choice.
Young demoted to backup.
Greenwood brought into the senior squad.

Lindelof was one of the best CB’s in the league last season
One of the best CB’s in the league, one of the best Gk’s in the league... but conceded more goals than Arsenal? Who’s defence was apparently disgraceful.
Van Dijk
Laporte
Alderweireld
Matip
Rudiger
Boly
Maguire
Zouma
just a few who were better than Lindelof last season,
Given that you judge players off what's appealing to your eye and your overall agenda with slating everything United does.... I find this list the least bit surprising coming from you.

It's not exactly rocket science. Stick anyone in a defence with Phil Jones and Ashley Young and the team will concede goals. Hence why we addressed those positions this past summer.

We've already established that DDG was not the best in the league last season. No United fan is arguing that. We've all said he had one of his worst seasons.
hahaha wait... so 1 CB just gets his individual performances negated because the other 4 individuals in the backline weren't good enough?

I’m not buying that one. Mark is right, Lindelof stood out because he was amongst that, but he’s still fairly average. The mistake against palace proves that.

Could be because of Martial's injury? We still don't know how bad it is.

That's true, forgot about that
Genuinely don’t get his issue with Lacazette.
Rashford a regular
Shaw a regular
McTominay a regular
James looks like he'll be a regular
Pereira looks like he'll feature often
Not very hopeful, personally.
