And try to cover it up and pretend it doesn’t exist? Just curious? I’m not going to mention what it’s about as I know the topic area is against the rules.
I think there's space for a broader discussion about whether the patent and its potential use in video games at all is something that customers desire. According to Andy's statement, before shutting down the prior thread, there is nothing explicitly stating that the patented technology is being applied in any of EA's games, currently.
Still, one has to assume that the patent application shows an intent to ultimately implement the theories discussed in the patent. I, for one, would be wholeheartedly against any sort of manipulation in my gaming experience as a means for the manufacturer to control my engagement. I would like to have the opportunity to play the game on a level playing field against my peers. If the game is good, I'm going to come back to it, regardless of my wins or losses. Even if the game has massive warts, like this one, I'm still like to continue playing it. I'd prefer not to have outside forces trying to steer me in one direction or another.
It seems like EA are still trying to stop us from even discussing it even though it’s there. Just let us have an open conversation about it, why shut it down and censor it?
Unless you are working on this, the game or know how any aspects are specifically used (if at all) in any of our games then we are going to continue to close down conversations on this.
The issue isn't about discussing a patent, it's that no-one has the knowledge about it to fully discuss it in a constructive way.
It always slips into a non-constructive conversation and is used without knowledge of how any of this works. I include myself in this, it's way above my head.
If we have any official info to share on this then I will, but for now the stance will continue from before. I'm not going to let every thread turn into a discussion about this."

Do you ever close down multiple threads about other topics Which happens daily?? no.. the one topic that actually needs to be discussed as much as possible... gets swept under the carpet at your earliest convenience

For reasons I have stated in my post - generally no-one has the knowledge of how any of this works, they use it to argue in favour of a point they want to make, regardless of whether they know for sure that's how it works.
So no, I will not let every thread be derailed talking about this patent.

Careful - you are discussing the other thing that is not to be discussed - moderation.
I think 100% the game closes the gap between amazing teams and ok teams, which is unfortunate as the point of Ultimate Team is to build the Ultimate Team, so you should have a large advantage by doing so. It is becoming VERY apparent now when I come up against mostly Gold NIF teams and I lose with 27 shots with my Ibra-Best-FB Firmino are blasting everything wide and my opponent has 2 shots on goal from outside the box, both going upper 90.
Regardless, I'd imagine another thing this patent confirms is the idea that they are definitely adjusting pack weights per user in order to increase retention.
Don't need to be a genius and understand every aspect of something just to have a conversation about it.
A very simple way to discuss this, without being a programming genius, is to simply ask the question..... Is there any kind of automatic or dynamic difficultly applied at any point during online competitive play in FIFA 19?
Seems like a yes or no answer would be somewhere to start.
In response to @EA_Andy above, to state that none of us have the knowledge to discuss to the patent in a "constructive way" seems overly dismissive. From my experience here, many of us are well educated and capable of thoughtful discussion on the topic, regardless of whether or not we have intimate knowledge on the inner workings of video game patents and their application to our experience.
I think the biggest takeaway would be to note people's general reaction to the idea of meddling in users' gaming experience; it is not wanted! The idea of manipulation feels predatory. What's worse, the gaming industry seems to lack regulation, which means that the potential for abuse is strong. Considering how many gamers are under the age of 18, unregulated measures that increase the likelihood for users to increase spending is problematic.
I'm not naive enough to think that manufacturer manipulation doesn't happen in many other areas, say advertising for instance, but I think that more regulation and oversight are present in those arenas to help keep companies from taking advantage of customers.
I dont know why everybody acting like this js something new. Most of us know it from beginning and i dont need to read it somewhere.
Everybody who play this game daily can feel it. You have a muscle memory in a lot of situations, you know exactly how much you need to press the shot button to score from some positions with some players in your team. Do you think its random that you score it 9/9 and then you are early up 2:0 in a match and you cant score 4-5 clear chances? I dont think so

I disagree mate, How do you know nobody has any knowledge if it can’t be discussed ? The fact that it does get closed down at every opportunity does certainly raise concerns.
It is in the patent which doesn't confirm its in the game it just means it could be. If it is in the game, there is no way by reading that patent that we could ever tell what modes it is in or what elements it affects. Unless someone up the chain at EA wants to say specifically how it impacts FIFA 19, then we're all none the wiser and still just guessing.
The narrative suggests it's to keep you playing longer...if a match was scripted in game, i.e. live, surely that makes me more likely to turn off?

Mind posting a relevant link, for all of us that have no clue what you’re talking about?

So how on earth, this is an e-sport game?
Seriously, I have no words ;d

In my experience if a company has applied for a patent then they are already using the thing they applied for!
Found this also
and its not right
Not when people are feeding EA billions of pounds
its all very shady
It all needs to stop
