Not exactly great news for the rest of us if they can focus all their energy into the PL.

Spot on, doubt they would hold onto Pep with no Champions League.

    Where would he go?

I doubt it would be for several years anyway.

*and isn’t threatened with an FFP penalty.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he went to Juve TBH.

We were never expected to win the League. Whereas you’re the greatest team ever and Liverpool have you shaking in your boots.

So why did you break transfer records for Van Dijk and Alisson? To consolidate your position in the top four?

To compete, obviously. I mean, do you expect us to win the League?

The "moment"? In the past 6 weeks before this they've had "pressure" to go top 3 times (i.e. Liverpool were top when they played). They won all 3 of those. Stop pretending Liverpool or pressure had anything to do with this loss

Forget Hazard, forget Salah, the real best player in the league is back (still a pain to say it).

    What a goal De Bruyne

(The fact it's the league cup is irrelevant, in case anyone is thinking it). He's still back.

Yes, I'm watching the game. Yes it's a much weakened team, but on the flip side of that, it's his first proper game back after injury. He's only going to get better unfortunately. Different class

Who said that the best player in the league had to be an attacker? Food for thought.

But since you mentioned Salah, Hazard and KDB, I must say, Salah’s the only one of them to have shown any real consistency. And from what I’ve seen, David Silva seems to run the show for Man City, anyway.

the best players in the whole league are de bruyne/ de gea imo, ones been injured and one has been playing not to his supreme form from seasons past so that isnt currently the case, but when on form theres a different class between thme and the rest

Silva is quality of course, but De Bruyne is an absolute wizard. He's on a different level to any other attacker in the league.

I remember that I watched around 20 Wolfsburg games here in the states just so I could see De Bruyne. That team with Dost, Naldo, Perisic, Caligiuri, Rodriguez and the like, was all about KDB and how he influenced the games. He was a treat to watch then, and even more now.

Now the facts to back up my post above. I'm not using obscure stats firstly, just the core goals and assists. These figures are from the Premier League's website:

De Bruyne - most assists of anyone in the league last season and the season before.
    16 in the 2017/18 season
    18 in the 2016/17 season

In those seasons David Silva managed 11 and 7 respectively.

    Goals 17/18: De Bruyne 8, Silva 9
    Goals 16/17: De Bruyne 6, Silva 4

De Bruyne's stats are more impressive than Silva's. I focused the comparison on those two but like I say, De Bruyne had the most assists of anyone in the league for two years running, so the idea of him not being consistent is just wrong, plain and simple. He's been doing it for years.

In 15/16 Silva had 2 more assists than De Bruyne (11 compared to 9), which I think was his first season back in the league, so they are more than respectable numbers for your first season back.

Moving away from stats though, De Bruyne has been running games for Man City for years now; everything goes through him, I have no issue believing that his numbers would be even better if he hadn't moved further back in midfield for a while before his injury due to his versatility, allowing Pep to play an extra attacker. Anyone who watches their games can see that he's a level above everyone else, he's different class.

I wouldn't normally care enough to write a post like this about another team's player, but he really is the best player in the league, hands down.
