Fifa ultimate team is dead or dying

Ronaldo 2.3 million on PS4? I’m 100 percent done with Fifa this year. I’ve not played the game for weeks now. And have no desires to, I used to luv fut. I want to luv fut 19 but I just can’t.

There is no sense of progression in division rivals, I’ve been a division 5 player since the start. The gameplay isn’t good, and the price of the top players is just to high. Unfortunately Fifa dead. Eventually everyone will have had enough, it could take a few more years but sooner or later Fifa won’t be the go to football game. Ea have taken fut in the wrong direction, competitive game play and corporate greed have ruined the game mode. It shouldn’t cost thousands of pounds to have and enjoy cards like R9, cr7, Ronaldinho and Pele.. I spent about £120 on points at the start, which is absolutely stupid money to spend on one game, and I can’t afford any of those top cards. The amount of time and money needed to acquire those cards is just disgusting. Fut champs rewards are just trash, sure you might have packed something really amazing, but how often do you pac players like that? Ea give everyone a little bit of something every now and then. Because they know you will carry on playing, carrying hoping for a big pull in your rewards, and more importantly to Ea you will carry on spending to try and get the next rank.. All these factors are slowly but surely killing fut. Ea need to change course or they will be their own downfall.

Feel free to discuss my post but please keep all conversations friendly and respectful. Don’t troll one another. These are just my opinions, it’s cool if you actually like this Fifa. I just really am bored of it. Probably won’t be back here for a while. Laters 👋

Agreed, but tbh, you are part of the problem (like I was). You spent money on FUT which nobody should do if we want things as a community to change.

Everyone spends money on points, I spent 120 at the start which is a lot, but it’s a drop in the ocean compared to what people are spending. The bubbles going to burst all those people buying packs are doing it to upgrade their team and holding out for a big pull. Eventually they will realise like I have, that it’s a waste of time money and your life and stop playing. I’ve not played for weeks now and my life is miles better, my weekends belong to me not Ea sports fut champs 🤘

I used to, but not anymore. Haven't spent a dime yet this FUT. Had some pack luck with semi-decent players during the web-app SBC phase and listened to some advise when they told me to buy Iniesta's when he was still 10K and less. Currently on 2M although 1.75M of that is invested in 88 and 84 rated players. Hoping they release a desireable icon soon otherwise I'll lose out on those 88 rated players.

Looks like you kicked an addiction so good for you 👍

I personally play the game because I enjoy it. Also play BO4, F1 and Fallout (still undecided on this game)

Too many people on here hate the game but force themselves to play it. That must be a problem. If you don’t enjoy the game don’t put yourself through it just to ‘have’ a better team. Plenty of other things to do/games to play

Thanks 🙏🏿 I really feel like I have, I will be the first to admit I was addicted for years, all you guys have to do is look at my history on here. All I ever did was complain. Well yes if you don’t like something don’t do it. But I was addicted and felt like I had to do it. Today rather then playing fut champs raging and stressing I’m going out for a meal with my family. Fut is a horrible thing. It’s a computer game, it should be fun.

This. It’s a key thing. It’s normal to get frustrated at parts of a game sometimes but if it’s constant then stopping altogether is best off.

It’s was constant, the whole mode is just crazy. All the people investing coins hoping for prices of their cards to rise chasing the big players. None of it actually matters. A better player will still destroy you’re team of gods with his vardy and Jesus lol. And you will be sat there thinking what was it for? 💭 🤔

Game play is bad.the lag and the button delay.losing against players who are clearly alot worse than you.i agree with some prices. 94 ronaldo 2.4 million when Messi is only 815000.suarez 320000.then you have 90 rated kroos 40k .look at GTA for example can have 29 players on 1 session with no lag what so ever.cars selling for a couple million but they give you upwards of 15000 dollars per mission.if you was to save say 50k every week from division rivals you would still never afford Ronaldo before FIFA 20 is out.per match you get a max of 600 coins you play 2 matches and have to spend 1700 coins on a squad fitness.so your minus coins there.not including contracts or healing.i know you can run 2 teams.but you want to compete with your top team not play one match with your best team then 1. Match with your fitness team which won't be as good.you want to use your top players every match.rockstar sell shark cards where you can buy in game dollars.but you can make at least 500k a day.why can't this be the same.why grind match after match after match to be minus coins all the time.leaving you no option but to buy FIFA points as you can't afford a squad fitness.

You make some good points and I believe you are right in one aspect which is a change is coming. But firstly the game won’t die for two reasons.

    1. EA have the licenses for all of the leagues, teams and players (Exclusively)

    2. Like it or not Fifa is the highest quality football simulator by a mile, it has no competition.

I think change will happen, however I think government legislation over “loot boxes” (basically it will be included in gambling laws) will force some kind of big change. How that will look I do not know. Maybe free to play with an optional subscription or selling things that give you no competitive advantage who knows.

EA will continue to dominate the market unless demand for a football game drops or another gaming company comes along and develops something that’s a similar standard.

Agree with a lot of your points OP. Me personally prob only playing as there is nothing else football wise really.

I am probably only going to give this one to Christmas tho, and unless a patch drastically changes things with this years game play,, then I am off to play and get back into Football Manager.

For me they have been killing it since they made their E-Sports FUT based. Now everyone is spending a fortune ,, some on the hope that they will be the next pro player or something. Pro players too rocking it with God squads. For me ,, that is not E=Sport,,, it should be based on who is better at the game without having to pay for advantages. If you put two pro players in a room,, give one a 5 star team like Barca, and the other another 5 star like Bayern box standard ,, then you will find out who truly is better at the game. True some would say it would be boring seeing the same teams all the time,,, but it would be a truer reflection on skill base,, if you really are wanting it to be a E-Sport. Of course that wont make EA a fortune in profit tho will it. When they put profit ahead of the game itself ,, then thats when the game started to suffer.

Who remembers when it really was good. I can remember playing from the beginning,, and playing the likes of the version that had Thierry Henry and Edgar Davids on the cover with that ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it out tune,, now that was when Fifa really was Good ,,, the South Africa WC one was probably the last good one before the slump imo.

And your telling me casinos are going to go out of business because people will realise you lose 80% of the time. People are stupid and addicted to the rush. Opening packs will always be fun some people can afford it some can’t. To say that the business mode will fail then your insane have fun waiting for something to chsnge

As long as you can play in your favourite team's kit and play using your favourite team's players, FIFA will be the go-to football game. Just look at when PES was light years ahead in terms of gameplay back in the PS2/Xbox days. And please, fanboys, don't kid yourselves, it was. It STILL couldn't beat FIFA, because FIFA charged you £50 every 7 to 8 months (on average, including all the editions such as their Champions League, World Cup, and Euros versions) to play an absolutely dire game, but you got to do it as Alan Shearer or Andy Cole or whoever and the kits had the little Premier League badge on them.

The game lived before Ultimate Team and the IQ of the average football fan means that even if EA decided to remove Ultimate Team altogether for no reason next year and PES suddenly came on leaps and bounds and became the greatest football game ever, FIFA would still be the best selling football game.

Don't kid yourself just that just because you don't like it, the game is going to die. 100,000 £15 packs disappearing in 3 minutes? Doesn't even sound like the game is sick to me, let alone as if it's dying.

@ OP Lets face it, if you haven't improved your rank in two months, the culprit with stagnation is your own playing strength. Also you firmly believe that this game is not pay to win, why would you need a better team, right? A tad hypocritical in that regard.

I dont think the issue is who spends and who does not. The issue is the game. Its relegated gameplay a long distance behind content. I dont play W/L becasue i refuse to devote that much time to a game i dont always enjoy, but i still play. There are too may passages of play now where it feels like i could put my controller down and have no influence.

Gameplay has been massaged to make the bad player average. He has no clue how to get better because the AI is doing so much for him. The game wants everyone to feel the joy of winning, but after a few games , winning assisted is as bad as losing.

I want to feel a sense of achievement that is lacking now. When i win I want to feel i did it and when i lose i want to be able to see what did wrong and improve.

    The gameplay has been neglected.

Couldn't disagree more. This year is far better than the previous 3. Gameplay is really enjoyable.

Yes there have been issues such as overhead kicks but that was resolved fairly quickly. The old methods of zig zag running, kick off goals, low driven shots, lobbed through balls etc being the only ways to score are by with. I score (and conceed) all kinds this year it's great.

Server issues are a genuine gripe for all but the mechanics are excellent.
