After games being looked into for gambling, having a look at EA FIFA would reveal some dirty stuff about gambling promoting
Who is looking into it?
the gambling commission are still looking into it.....
they just passed a statement which passed the buck for the time being.
the eu passed such rules onto individual countries because of tax legislation which they couldnt interfere with....despite what the idiots bojo and farrage made 52% think.
fifa has a problem and ea know it.
they offer a poker style cash prize in the regionals and the grand finals.
Sigh. You guys kill me. You buy points to open packs while demonizing EA as though they are forcing you to. Like it or not, EA clearly states what you could receive in each pack. If you don't like the odds (and you shouldn't) then don't spend your money on it.
Furthermore, EA has made it easier than ever to play ultimate team without spending a dime. You have squad battles AND the weekend league AND weekly SBCs AND a constant way to turn in commons for rates if you so choose.
If you know anything at all about gambling then you should know sports books, the house etc. is set up so that you lose over time. The odds are always against you and very few can consistently succeed in the gambling world. The rest generally accept they will probably lose.
If you think this is anything like gambling then why are you so angry when you spend money on it and get nothing in return. That's exactly what you should expect. Therefore, it isn't EAs fault but rather your own lack of self control and falling into the illusion that "maybe this time I'll strike Gold!"
Perhaps people should worry less about the pack aspect of the game and find enjoyment in the squad building, trading, sbc and actual gameplay (granted that last bit is hard to do with the game so flawed lol)
Dumbest comment ever goes to this pillock.
Gambling is addicitive and destroys life, this form of it is aimed at children and if its deemed illegal children need protected from it and it should be stopped. Instead just make it every season everyone gts 20 packs for free and what you get it what you get youbuild your best team and can earn extras through challenges then no onehas to pay a fortune, oh but wait then they wont make a billion quid a week from mugs and the children they are exposing to their illegal gambling.
Battlefront has obviously learnt it's lesson this week that people don't want and never want microtransctions into thier games.
I think if Ultimate team was to work they should just restricted it too Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Europe's biggest clubs like Ajax, Porto, Zenit etc etc
I think it needs to be very regulated because I think it's gambling and it shouldn't be in FIFA as lots off kids play this game and it shouldn't be allowed for anyone under 16. I think EA should allow you to buy coins and maybe increase the cheapest price ranges like for example
Bronze from 100-10000 to 1000 to 10000
Silver 100-10000 to 2000 to 15000
Gold 600-10000 to 3000 to 20000 (Except for the top players who cost a lot more)
Obviously the more top players price ranges will be more than 3000 and will start from 10000 so it doesn't lose value too much.
wouldnt have been insider info just info that wouldnt have been top public news.
they would have been talking to the GC and other people plus listening to what people think.
rightly so they think micro transactions will soon be regulated.
this is no one elses fault but ea's.
they took the absolute **** with pack weights and it was only a matter of time before the subject of gambling and packs got through to who needed to hear it.
if they had of been more transparent and put a fair price on a pack i dont think many would have complained.
now they risk harming their own company because of greed.
You can absolutely make a strong argument for fraud. But it isn't gambling. By definition, gambling is wagering money or stakes (property or something with monetary value) against someone else for money or stakes.
Thus by definition, which has been my WHOLE POINT, it isn't gambling.
I could accept fraud. Wouldn't disagree with it. But it literally isn't gambling haha.
you are wrong here . but thanks for accepting "fraud" )
1) Cambridge dictionary
Gambling - the activity of betting money, for example in a game or on a horse race
Gamble - to do something that involves risks that might result in loss of money or failure, hoping to get money or achieve success: ( here you can substract with - ..hoping to receive valuable content for you FIFA game)
2) wikipedia :
Gambling is the wagering of money or something of value (referred to as "the stakes") on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning money or material goods.
and then important point is that such activity is regulated BY LAW.... you have to have OFFICIAL LICIENCE to perform gambling activity ot game...
so that's why EA approach IS GAMBLING and US FRAUD,,, because they DONT PAY HIGHER TAXES on that.
any counter arguments?...
coins are being used as currency virtually being turned into really money.
You can blatantly Google coins for sale fifa and hundreds of websites are advertising coins for sale ( if you ask me the easiest way around possible to launder money hence why gambling rules are so strict in the first place) that's true that EA have no direct link to this but also because of this they are worth such an amount of money per player to the amount of coins you can sell for so therefore you are wagering money (if buying fifa points) to try and get more back.
If you use casino chips does that mean it's not classed as gambling as your using chips that are being used to get higher value chips?
How is it really any different?
Wow talk about miss reading scanned though your post and thought u said it wasn't gambling lmao
if you're unable to see the fact that opening packs are a gamble, because no one knows the odds and the probability of packing a huge reward entices people to spend, then the only person making you look stupid is yourself.

There's the Webster dictionary for you. You can call it fraud if you want. But it isn't gambling. How is this hard to understand? I'm using the actual definition. YOU are talking rubbish. So back track on your statement because you are the one clueless here.
At the age of 27 you should know better. It is gambling. The items do have value. You seem like a part of the problem.
Alright. Let's all be friends and forget all this other nonsense. The point is, how can we start holding game studios that utilize micro transactions accountable. I'm done fight with strangers online that presumably love football as much and as passionately as I do.
Disregard my previous reply. I agree with this stance whole heartedly.
If you don't like the odds (and you shouldn't) then don't spend your money on it.
Yeah you kind of gave yourself up there.
No one force anyone to gamble in any environment, they entice them. This is what you don't understand with problem gambling
Odds are mathematical, not exclusive to gambling. I didn't give anything up there. There are odds that it will rain next week. There are increased odds that you will develop lung cancer if you smoke. Odds on the candidates that run in any given election will earn nomination.
Odds don't = gambling. Gambling constitutes wagering something of monetary value for something of monetary value. This does not occur in FIFA. The only thing of monetary value is the $60 game. The rest is paid content within the $60 game.
Don't try to get cute with me to make me look stupid ffs xD
Is it stupid to suggest opening packs isn't a form of gambling? Probably you are making yourself look stupid when arguing the semantics.
It's probably ignorant to suggest a form of gambling don't exist because it doesn't fulfil a legal definition.
Most people don't know that FUT is an enticement based entertainment system in the form of a football game similar to a fruit machine. Even the game engine decision making can become like a buzzing fruit machine gagging to pay out. Now we know who hired all the fruit machine programmers when fruit machines became much less popular.
I don't know if it's the 99.99 I paid for the Ronaldo and to get the packs every Sunday wanting to get someone above 85 rating not even the 90 rating but an 85?? is that to much to ask??? Well maybe I did get it who knows....i was wishing for an Icon I mean I did pay the highest price the least they can do is give me the worst of their Icon players but noooooo they give me some cards no one wants to play with at least on my side of the world...or is it the fact that their matching system sucks I've been playing this game since May 2016 and I can't get past Division 7 even though I'm not a top tier level player in division one I can hold my own...i should be a Division 5 IMO but hey practice makes perfect right...so that's ok because I get better but it's frustrating cuz you always get matched with better players and Im just starting to HATE the game now ....or is it because I have put real money to get good players and they only give me bad ones....and good ones I'm talking Messi or Suarez or and Icon like Ronaldo not an Umtiti, which I have nothing against...he is a good defender but really???? Or is it because I'm a normal player like anyone in the world that's not a pro and are not paid attention too because they cater to their highest tier guys and that come on tv or YouTube because I always see video of them getting those players, they want me to spend money to get good players and yet when I do spend the money I get awful players
Fifa sucks that's all there is to it too much cheating players, to much disconnecting and getting the loss wish they would do something about it by my I know and we all know they DON'T CARE ABOUT LOYAL CUSTOMERS they only want GREEN

2. take risky action in the hope of a desired result. = Gambling definition. Don't get cute. Just have to be for money
You stake points for a pack containing random items in the hope you’ll get value for your ‘stake’, a return worth the initial outlay or more...
You gamble the odds of receiving poor items against odds that you’ll receive valuable items.
I don’t get where even the argument is on this - It is a ‘chance’, or ‘gamble’, any person buying points offers to EA for content to enhance their clubs items. Nobody wants low value items and to claim that ‘goods reveived’ is the loophole that denies the claim of gambling is totally ridiculous. We chance on the hope that a dropped player is of high value and that is where it is absolutely a gamble.
1/1000 odds of spending 100,000 coins on a pack to get players amounting to anything close to the outlay required to open the pack. To assume the packs would offer close to even odds is to misunderstand. But is the best way to understand that EA artificially denies the the overall majority customer the chance to better his/her stake. The market has to favour the ‘house’ in order for it to function properly.

They have zero value. It is not gambling.
'Value' is subjective, there seems to be a hang up on monetary value in the definitions of gambling but that's just incorrect. If you drink drive then you're gambling with your (and others) life. Russian roulette is gambling. Anything that has on outcome of chance is gambling. Of course opening packs is gambling whether it's virtual or not. Take pink slips a few fifas back that were all the rage. I'd put my coins up against yours and winner takes all. Is that not gambling? Because we'd be using the same non monetary virtual coins that people aren't putting 'value' to as it's not real cash? It's an addiction that we see over and over again on these forums and to expose young children to this when most of us 'grown ups' can't handle it is opening the door to a lot of future possibilities of problems

this is completely unregulated gambling
this is making addicts out of kids
government needs to step in and REMOVE all FP/micro transactions from this game (other than purely NO GAME PLAY AFFECTING aesthetic ones like you can buy different Kits or Stadiums or Balls)
