I mean you never get “nothing” from packs. Might not be a walkout, but you always get something that you can trade on the market to get coins to buy players you actually want.
If EA set things up so that you always packed items worth more in coins than the coins you spent on the packs... that’d be the equivalent of EA just giving us coins, “printing money,” and the FUT virtual economy would crash.
That’s why I make coins by opening packs from SB or SBCs, make profit, and use these coins to get players I want off thr market. I won’t ever get CR7 or Prime Henry this way, but I’m also not willing to spend real money to get more packs and more coins for this.
I packed TOTS CR7 last year after getting nothing of value all year. Keep trying
That’s what EA want you to do: spend 100ds or 1000nds in real money on a virtual good that will yield virtual rewards that dont even endure but have to be renewed every year. Genius marketing- abhorrently amoral
Well I know people who spend several hundred dollars every weekend at the bar/club and have to renew payment every time till get drunk. And they might not even remember
It's all entertainment, I prefer FIFA to spending on drinks or the like. Doesn't seem so abhorrent to me
You don’t think preying on the developmental vunerability of children and adolescents is abhorrent???
Wow no need to involve the kids. Let’s keep this light fella
I’ve spent just over £120 this year so far and best player I have pulled is loris (80k) and one discard IF. I used to go out every Friday with the lads and spend at least £100 but now the wife works Friday night and I watch the kids and every 2/3 weeks I get 4200 fifa points and pray for a good player. Love the buzz of opening packs (same on pro evo) and as an FUT founder and spending over 2k I have never had Ronaldo.
I could have spent a lot more ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it up against a wall or in casinos or on slot machines. End of the day I love the buzz of opening packs and it’s my choice, my money and my loss.
One day I will get CR7. Probably when he is 40 and rated 78 :-)

Why?
Getting yourself all worked up over a game son. Sit back relax and watch others rant and rave.
Of course it’s gambling - what makes you think it isn’t?
The fact that international organizations determined it isn't.
Only reason it isn't gambling is because they keep all the loot. It has every psychological hook of gambling, it is *effectively* gambling, but the beauty is that you *can't win.* You can never cash out. Otherwise, it would be gambling.
As for buying packs with coins, everybody has to learn this once I suppose. The expected return on packs from coins is, I think, probably about 50% *at best.* And that's including big pulls, over the long run. If you spend 20M on packs, odds are you're going to wind up with *at best* 10M in coins when you're done.
Over a small number of packs, it can be much worse, because you likely won't get any good pulls to even it out.
The reason it isn't considered gambling is because you get something in return, something you knew you were getting. IE the pack description...
it's like a tombola where everyone is guaranteed A prize, but there are different prizes.. those aren't considered gambling.
Hi all,
Just spent 250.000 coins on prime players packs Yield: nothing worth mentioning. I’m done buying packs, the weight is so ridiculously low that its not worth it. I know it‘s my fault for buying them, but gambling is embedded in human nature (that Ronaldo is just around the corner) but EA is also to blame. This is a game NOT gambling. If you offer in game purchases, you have to give something in return; I’m an adult and can assess the risks, but younger kids can’t, my prediction is that EA will be forced - through new legislation - to drop pack gambling in the near future. What do you think - is it coming?
its always been that way though mate and won't change. legislation won't change it...they'll maybe have to put another warning / message screen up when you buy coins thats all.
BTW if you change your mind - Don't buy Any packs til BF. Bound to be lightening rounds and 100k packs, and although thats 2000 points the rewards can be decent
If you buy 5 special limited packs. Worth of 30 EUR there should be at least one decent player inside. Best I got was a ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 83 keeper and Disard ❤️❤️❤️❤️

agree mate. they just did the 5 x 45k packs. Now it really wouldnt hurt to put a board player in each pack would it ? they start at 83 and are selling for about 3k+ now so at least thats some reward. I did 2 and best I got was 81 rateds. thats taking the p.
I've spent no money on packs but bought the r9 version so get free jumbo packs.
This year I have packed..
Reus in a MM reward pack pre release on ps4
Toni Kroos in a 15k pack from pre ordering
Aubamayang in a gold upgrade pack
De Bruyne in another 15k reward pack
85 crespo in an SB reward pack.
Been insanely lucky this year and not spent a penny and never will I ever again.
If it’s not gambling, it clearly appeals to people in a similar way that say doing a scratch card might. Am no professor, but I bet the same part of the brain is stimulated.
This thread, like others similar to it, is just full of morons, for the most part. It's a risk, take it or leave it.
I've spent thousands on ultimate team, most time I've ended up with very little. I'm switched on enough to expect the worst.
As if people think spending a few quid will guarantee Ronaldo etc. These are the same people who clearly have no idea what state the market would be in, if that were to happen.
there is no logic spending coins to buy pack. if u really need the coins u need to spend $$$ on the packs. but its like ~30$ . i am done open those promo packs they a waste . maybe 100k packs when they out . but 45k is same garbage as 15k 7.5k

It's not gambling because EA tell you what each pack is guaranteed to have, for example one rare in a normal pack and 3 rares in a premium pack. It's the same as buying a real life pack of cards when you were a kid.
If you go to a casino and play the machines they don't tell you what you're going to get out of playing it, hence the term GAMBLING. If anything, most of them warn you of the extremely slim chances of actually winning.
Micro-transactions in gaming is an industry that has long needed regulation imo. There's too many places, not least in FIFA, where advertising is targeted at younger users to try and get them to exchange a small monetary amount for the chance at some good item in the game. This is gambling, pure and simple, and should be subject to the same regulations they adhere to.
In some cases the idea of "loot boxes" or the like is understandable - for example when the prize is a cosmetic in-game item that will not grant you any advantage over your opponents (e.g. TF2, PUBG, etc.). However when the promise is that of an item which is implied to be better, and thus make you better, then the equation is different. I, like many others no doubt, still remember the days when, if you wanted to get better, you put in more practice rather than more notes from your wallet. These days there is far too much of a "buy more lives" culture which is just setting a dangerous precedent of solving your problems by throwing money at them.
Essentially micro-transactions definitely require some form of regulation and, at the very least, clear warnings that are visible to both kids and their parents. However, unfortunately, this industry is far too big for that to be allowed to happen. EA's profits from digital micro-transactions likely go into the billions and there's no way they would idly stand by and watch as their income is capped.

There's the difference.
Thts a very dubious and loose description that is highly open to challenge.

But he chose to make that decision. It's not like someone forced him to spend those thousands.
He did it because he clearly likes opening packs. He's smart enough not to expect Ronaldo or Messi every 5 or so packs like most of you seem to think is how it should be.

What's the big harm in making goo d players like debruyne etc more common to pack? You can still have super rare informs.
