This doesn't feel right, it's not even January.

Congratulations to Portugal and Real Madrid on winning the Ballon d'Or though

I think he meant it doesn't feel right having the winner announced now and not in January like normal.

So i guess winning a tournament without playing the final and performing in 2 games, scoring in a penalty shootout while having one good game all year is enough to win the Ballon D'or

You mean the one where the bigger and more popular leagues gets their total boosted?

The total gets boosted because they take the 5 years ranking into account. Not popularity

They take 5 years ranking of teams performance in European competitions. A player from Russia may be denied an award just because other clubs in his league performed badly in Europe, why does he deserve it less compared to someone from France?

Anyway it's a silly debate, I agree that the golden boot is the only award that is vaguely based on stats rather than on how people view a certain player player.
