So, seeing that you won't be in the PL anyway... League Two it is!

Either way it's going to be a rebuilding phase for the club which is always interesting.

I reckon they'd vote for the Championship tbh, the derbygames bring in a lot of money

I have early access but this thread won't properly start until full release, I just want to see if there's any early patches / new faces added

Last year the patches also consistently changed the gameplay during the year, to the extent I used a copy of FIFA installed from the DVDs and never updated, for my career... I really hope it's not necessary this time. :joy:

This looks really good so far. Glad to see the back of Ellis Short, but was genuinely surprised that you'd drop them down to the Football League.

While League 2 would be fun, I hope you end up in the Championship so we get some Tyne-Wear derbies :)

Didn't lose money somehow. Won like $200 on the roulette wheel, which I blew on blackjack, made sure I kept the $20 I started with though haha

After what may have seemed like forever for the Sunderland faithful, the result of the English Football League referendum has finally been finalized. Next season, Sunderland, the six times English champions, will be competing in League 2. Receiving 73% of the votes, the fourth division in England had an overwhelming majority.

The days ahead for Sunderland will be tough, but Niall Quinn has urged the Black Cats fans to continue to keep the faith. "Yes, it'll be tough, but with the new structure we've got in place here guarantees financial stability, and with the players who have promised to stay, we have a strong squad", said Niall Quinn while discussing the clubs future.

It is expected that the club will announce the departures of the majority of the senior squad, with most players already reportedly out of the door. Jeremain Defoe, Lee Cattermole, and Lamine Kone are already heavily linked with other Premier League clubs. The club will ultimately look towards their young talent to move forward.

So what does this triple relegation mean for the rest of the leagues in England? The EFL, in conjunction with the Premier League, and advice from the FA, released this statement:
We had to make a very tough decision in regards to re-organizing the teams in our divisions in order to re-balance the quota of teams in each league. We considered nullifying the relegation of the teams who had the highest placed relegation in each division, however we didn't want to reward teams who had got relegated. We have instead decided to grant promotion the teams which finished the highest place in their division (Championship, League 1, and League 2), and did not already gain promotion through the automatic spots or the play offs. This means that, from the Championship, Brighton and Hove Albion will be competing in the Premier League, Walsall from League 1 will be moved to the Championship, and from League 2, Accrington Stanley will be promoted to League 1.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience in this ongoing matter.

    Nice timing ^^

Well I think we all expected League 2. Will now be very interesting to see how many players you can keep a hold of, hardly any I imagine. I think Defoe will be one of the first out the door.

Will be fun to follow you rocket up the leagues though (Not too much mind you). I think the lower leagues will be a very temporary home for the black cats.

Not great news for Sunderland but it's going to be good following the re-build in the story.

  • While some of the senior players will probably leave, I can see young players like Watmore, Pickford and Gooch being part of the first team for a long time, especially Pickford, he could be your keeper for the series.

Don't know about McNair and Love though, Love would probably stay, but since McNair is higher rated for a championship side, I can imagine he would put in transfer request during the first season.

Either way can't wait for the start of the season and what, how and who you bring in/sell :)

All will be revealed soon regarding the young players, you picked up on a few correct things though

Good to see you're in the League Two :D Honestly, it'll make the CM much more entertaining this way though. I do something like this almost every year in private saves, so I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

I normally do it once a year with Sunderland. The only League 2 club I enjoy playing with is Portsmouth, and I did one last year, so I don't want to do it again, when it'll be the same for like 10 seasons
