Herrera worked so much better for the second half vs City. Go back to that?!

I think Carrick should be the deep lying mid, the only decent mid passer Utd have, with either Herrera or Schneiderlin next to him for the mobility and closing down and then pogba infront of them 2. Got to try something else as clearly the current setup isnt working.

But Rooney has to play ;)

    Utd's Toni Kroos? :D

Didnt Mourinho say Rooney wont be playing midfield, only at 9 or 10? ;)

What happened to Schweiny would he not suit the position better?

...and there's the answer. Why on earth Mourihno has exiled him I don't know. Yes he's broken and not very mobile, but in his current state, he's a decent foil to Pogba in my opinion
He can barely last an hour though, looked very unfit recently.

Tb to the time when Smalling was apparently in top 3 CB's of the league

He's not a long term solution, or even a full game solution, but if I were a Utd fan, I'd be wondering why he doesn't have some role to play. He's won it all over the years, surely he should at least provide a mentoring role? I don't know what's happened to get him frozen out at Utd, but it does seem like a waste of his experience.

People just don't remember more than a game at a time.

Blind is great sometimes but Smalling is the better defender.

It's not the defence really. No defence can survive with zero cover from midfield.

It's not only the midfield or only the defence, it's the whole team that's lacking commitment and quality atm

Jose having a go at Shaw for his part in conceding even though he was injured at the time

Blind as a CB for me. Much better foil for Bailly and Smalling is just pure **** and is more interested in the man than ball every single time!

idk... Smalling and Bailly just look better at the back overall. Give the guys a little time to gel. Blind has more weaknesses at CB than the other two combined imo. Blind/Schneiderlin as strickly a CDM would be great.

This should be surprising to no one. Typical Mourinho.

Is it just me who thinks the magic of Mourinho died off after his success at Inter.

Seems to never be far from trouble/issues now.

He beat what many consider the greatest team ever to the league.

Most of those were last year though, you know, when all the refs in the PL colluded to make Chelsea lose.

That's what's happening this year as well though isn't it? It's all a big witch-hunt on poor old Jose.

I just hope he can bounce back. Yes squad have issues but that isn't an excuse at this point he had a summer, said the targets he wanted and got were enough for now. He just needs to find the right balance in the squad and make due. He's got to find a way to bring the best out of the squad because that's what top managers do. Even if that means benching Rooney. If anything bring the guy in later in he game when the other team is tired, he might look decent then. I'm all for giving him time and I'm not wanting to sack him anytime soon, even if I'm not a fan of his tactics

    My choice of line up.
    433
    DDG
    Valencia-Bailly-Smalling-Shaw
    Schneiderlin/Blind
    Ander/Mata-Pogba
    Mkhitaryan-Ibra-Martial.

Realistically, if he's got to shoehorn Rooney in. Then 4231 with Rooney at CAM, schneiderlin-Pogba behind.

I just don't like the look of Bailly and Smalling as a pair. Too similar IMO

Blind, however better on the ball in control and passing is just a bigger liability defensively imo. Put a decent midfield trio in front of the back line and I think we will be just fine.
