As you've likely seen, we have the ability to put images in the sidebar via the alert feature. Therefore we can explore promotions for threads, sections or anything else really.

Would love to hear any ideas you have for it!

Alerts can be set up to be category specific or subcategory specific

Similar to real life match scores, links to ongoing match threads might generate more interest in that section.

Say, if there was a Mainz - Schalke thread for tonight's game, something like this in the panel hyper-linked to the match thread:
