hopefully good news for gamers, which could stop gambling and loot boxes in games .

So have been reading the report on the 18 countries that will be taking action, maybe later this year. All these loot boxes and gambling which of course is in FIFA, but even more in mobile games, could be really hit hard and even just outright banned in many EU countries.https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2022-06-01-18-countries-back-report-calling-for-loot-box-regulations

That is just minimal info about it, but if you want to look more into it, its very interesting, and later this year a lot of loot boxes, and gambling in games across all platforms may be just banned from these countries. This needs to happen as there is now evidence of addiction and gambling issues in children, especially from their phones in mobile games.

I hope action gets taken soon as it is getting out of hand and it is so predatory the way these games attempt to get money from adults and children, What do you think?

    Sooner this happens the better.

This game encourages gambling and worse still, due to the PEGI rating, it hooks kids on it too.

Worst thing that could happen, ultimate team is dead soon as they get rid of the store.

Why? They will just sell coins instead of packs or lower the price of packs with coins.

How is selling coins any different? Still encouraging youngsters to spend real money so that will never happen

    FUT should be 18+

Adults can make their own choices, and even then plenty end up with addiction issues.

Children shouldn't be allowed to gamble, and that is all FUT is.

Trouble is, it's almost impossible to police.

Kids ask their parents for Fifa and the parents think "great, at least it's not CoD or Fortnite and the constant demand for V Bucks".

The key is to make parents aware of these predatory in game mechanics.

That will require the legislature in every country, and the hardware manufacturers (Sony etc...) to slap great labels on every piece of Fifa advertising - and for the media to bring the issue front and centre so you'd have to be living under a rock not to know about this issue.

Because you at least get what you pay for and with that if EA still want to make the money they do it's transparent, Yes R9 is £10k still want to "buy" him ?

    1) there should be a parental control option so that kids won't spend real money without approval of their parents

    2) I don't mind microtransactions but all packs must have more transparency as the current system does not really tell you anything about what you spend your money on

This should happen in North America as well. When you gamble you have a chance to win something of value money - when you gamble in games you get nothing of value and in fact FIFA is the worst because the thing you get is lasts 1 year or less and eventually is removed from servers all together. They need to ban this.

You can still have ultimate team but you can't buy packs anymore you get them through playing the game. This will do 2 things: make it easier to get good players/increase pack weigh, and make the focus on gameplay to make sure people buy the game at full price at the start of each year.

For people interested in playing a football game this will be great.
