I noticed this problem a few weeks ago, as I have exactly the same issue when opening Saved Packs on Console (XBOX One).
Because of this, I open all my Packs on the Web App now and the Game doesn't mix when you open them from there.
Side Note - This is surely a major widespread issue and those of us affected must surely be due compensation?
Is it that those packs should have been tradeable or that they are mixing them with others I have stored? I have about 35 stored packs… it’s frustrating either way as I wanted to open all my tradeable first so I don’t have to deal with duplicates

Who could know. Plenty of people Save Packs until there is a better time to open them and unless you look at each Stored Pack as soon as you earn them, it's difficult to keep track.
However, it is not the consumers fault and EA need to look into what is going wrong as soon as possible.
I spoke with EA right now that I got Untradeable players and items from tradeable packs.... I recorded 4 packs The chat men don't believe me...when I said that I show him proves he disconnected from the chat.... So sad...we spend so much money and time And this is how EA treat us
Happened to me as saving packs it seems when you have 2 of the same pack it seems to open the untradeable one first even if you click the tradeable one for some reason, as it only happens when i have 2 packs of the same kind otherwise it is fine. Will just have to use the web app i suppose to open my tradeable duplicate packs from now on.

Happened to me twice on the mobile app this afternoon.
Stuck with dupes now and can’t open anymore packs.
Seems to default to opening untradeable versions of the same pack first no matter which one you choose.
When the only version of a pack was tradeble it opened that no problem.
Yeah it's annoying but it's nothing that would result in compensation. For some reason it opens your untradable version first if you have an untradable and tradable version of the same pack.
Is there anyway to prevent this? Imagine pulling an untradeable Toty that should be tradeable.

This has happened to me as well on console. I think the only way to get around it is to open the desired packs on the web app (possibly also companion app).
I have a lot of packs saved so I tried this out with a few different low rated packs today. On console not all packs are listed (only the first 30 I think) but on the web app you can scroll through the entire list of packs. When opening packs there I never had an issue with it opening the wrong version, but I didn’t want to open too many so this dataset is very small (4 out of 4).
This is not for everybody but I also used the complete list from the web app to make notes of which packs that had both versions, to know which ones to avoid opening on console.
Just unbelievable that we have to take these measures because of such a trivial bug. How is it not an easy fix for EA?

I still had the same issues on the app. It’s a problem everywhere.
It seems that if you have two of the same pack it will open the first type you have listed. If you have three Ultimate Packs and the first two are untradeable and you go to open the last one which is tradeable it will open the first one you have which isn’t what you have chosen. You’ll still have the tradeable pack left but before you can open it you have to do the other untradeable pack.
This just forces people into more duplicate untradeables before you can get to anything tradeable. Just more of the same frustrating nonsense.

This incorrect Pack being opened error previously occured on Console only - It has recently spread to the Web App too.
