Apparently it's because they have Ronaldo to dive, take penalties and take free kicks so he wasn't needed.

It's so obvious he needs a rest, has been ridiculously overplayed this season.

Overplayed this season, clearly out of form and fatigued.

He wasn’t the penalty taker for his team so didn’t do much

    😂.

Xhaka had a better tournament. But xhaka is a boss of a midfielder

I actually think he wasn’t given much of a chance though. You leave your best players on and let them play there way through.

The cream always rises to the top.

Portugal's formation doesn't suit him. The coach like to play 3 man midfield deep. Bruno tried to play there and was as effective as a potato sack. He need to play in advanced wing or ideally CCAM role, which doesn't exist and occupied by someone else.

This of course other than the obvious factor where he's just not sharp anymore due to the amount of games he played. Take a look at the clip on the beginning of the season compared to the 1/3 of the last season. He look very sharp and agile during those early seasons.

The real culprit here is Jota who scuffed his shots so much he might as well gave the chance to someone else, as well as Felix on that last minute chance.

The real takeaway of portugal's campaign this time is how Renato looks like he's gonna have a busy summer. He's just so strong and sharp.

The manager cost them as he played such a negative lineup. When Fernandes and Joao Felix were on Portugal looked way better.

Overrated why? They played good matches versus France and Belgium. Yes they lost, but Belgium is a great team as well and Portugal deserved to win tbf.

France hasn't been at their best,,,Belgium golden generation has run out of gas

Overrated in terms of a team full of good players, who can't play together

Jota was worse to be fair, dreadful in all the group games too

Felix looked decent when he came on, should have been on much earlier

Bruno looks burnt out, needs a proper rest

Yeah, he needs a rest, which probably won't be an instant miracle cure, but he definitely needs it, then he can rebuild his form.

Bruno is clearly not in his best form at the moment. He played almost the whole first group match, but he and Carvalho was replaced at the end of that match with Renato and Moutinho. After the first game Renato and Moutinho became starters.

After Bruno and Carvalho were left out of the XI, Portugal drew 1 and lost 2.

That Palhinha looked good though, I thought Moutinho was lucky to start

Burnout, didn’t turn up for the last quarter of the season for Utd as well and isn’t as influential for Portugal as he is for Utd. That aside I thought Portugal were the better team trying to win the game, Belgium sat back trying to hit Lukaku at every opportunity.

Think it was a very close game personally but would be a nice bit of schadenfreude to see Portugal go out having been the better team considering their recent success (this euros and especially 2016) has come in spite of being consistently poor.
