In my opinion I've always found players like Ronaldinho, Neymar, Ronaldo, Nani and Ibrahimovic as the most entertaining footballer to watch, people want to replicate what they do in real life and I have always tried to do this on Fifa as well. Everyone wants to score that awesome skill goal where you beat several opposition defenders and then rifle the shot past the keeper. Everyone wants to mug off their mates with impressive pieces of skill, nutmegging defenders left right and centre and then smashing a finish into the top corner. Both of these are things I've learnt how to do throughout my time playing Fifa, last year I felt skilling was very strong and was a competitive way to play FIFA and I feel its something that people want to know and learn about but there isn't a place where you can read, and interact with others, which is what I am trying to do with this kind of "guide"

This guide will consist of;
  1. - Comprehensive explanations and examples of each and every skill in the game, the list of skills will be updated with clips and gameplay throughout the year.
  2. - The Key skill combinations in the game, with clips and advantages added.
  3. - 5* skiller reviews using a points system (to be explained further)
  4. - Extensive footage of goals throughout my journey in Fifa 16
  5. - Simple tips and tricks to aid in skilling in Fifa 16

    In this section of the guide I will be choosing 3 skill moves per week and aim to feel like I have mastered the skill move during that week. The 3 skills will be randomly chosen and will be applied reviewed in depth to give the strengths and weaknesses of the move in FIFA 16.

    Week 1- Heel Flick Turn, Fake Pass and Ball Roll
    114234627db96300865c4f1ad3ebaa42.png
    Here are some clips from the Botaka squad using some of the skills below, any questions then please feel free to post!.

    The Heel Flick Turn
    e99cb892eb6cdb921580493cef4cc50e.png
    A brand new skill in FIFA 16, this skill requires at least 4* skills.
    Advantages;
    1) Easy to get passed a player from the right hand side cutting inside
    2) Looks really good in game.
    3) Really useful in combination with other skills such as the McGeady spin.
    4) Good way to nutmeg defenders.

    Disadvantages;
    1) Very predictable as you can only turn one way
    2) Can be very difficult to time it correctly

    The Fake Pass
    9c1e8f1bb3905fe12a82a85e2ae5872d.png
    Another brand new skill, this time its requires 5* skills to perform, I look forward to using this skill in combination with various other skills this year.
    Advantages;
    1) Looks AMAZING in game
    2) Can be used in combination with other skills such as the drag back and quick ball rolls
    Disadvantages;
    1) Can only be done whilst stationary meaning you can often get caught by defenders

    The Ball Roll
    95f89dfc9bb3dc29aa803e13e6c14afb.png
    The most simple skill IMO yet one of the most vital and simple to use. My challenge is to beat the keeper using this skill, last year this would have been very simple but keepers seem to be far better so this could be much harder than it seems!
    Advantages;
    1) Best way to beat defenders who over commit
    2) All outfield players can perform this skill
    3) Easier way to beat keepers (even though I failed the challenge)
    Disadvantages;
    1) If you use this skill too often it can become predictable so be sure to mix up which direction you use it towards.

    Week 2- Scoop Turn, Ball Roll Flick and Rabona Shot
    10b0bf85b2606c8d53fb885e624d3f45.png

    As always there are clips in the above video using the skills below and other skills, any question just post below and i'll be sure to explain as best I can!

    The Scoop Turn
    One of the more over used skills, great for beating players who dive in and great in combo with other skills. Requires 4* skills.
    Advantages;
    • Easy to pull off
    • Looks great when combined with a previous spoltight skill, the ball roll
    • Can beat the keeper
    • Good when you have your back to goal as it enables you to turn swiftly
    Disadvantages;
    • Can be predictable
    • Sometimes difficult to exit at the correct angle
    The Ball Roll Flick
    796f4a5075888f834e7e4d837b44a32c.png
    Requires 5* Skills. Is a skill which is initially harder to pull off but once you get the hand of it its a great skill
    Advantages;
    • Brilliant for sending a defender one way then turning the other
    • Looks fantastic in game
    Disadvantages;
    • Difficult to pull off
    • If your player has poor ball control the ball will go too far ahead and you will lose possesion
    The Rabona Shot
    c9169eeaa7a6fd264f2cc9693416be8f.png
    One I am looking forward to using this year, only requires the flair trait and Im hoping to score some nice goals with this skill this year.
    Advantages;
    • Looks great if you can pull it off
    Disadvantages;
    • Very hard to get the ball on target
    • Can easily ruin simple chances by using this rather than a simple shot.

    Week 3- Elastico Chop, Bolasia Flick and Ball Roll Scoop
    20b19465c9340895d38a194afbd1b038.png

    The Elastico Chop
    341773bd90d29dcc34f6c3a800a8f3dc.png
    Requires 5 star skills
    Advatages;
    • Very hard to defend against as the ball moves behind the leg, earning plently of fouls
    • good for turning inside, whilst being unpredictable
    • looks great in game
    Disadvatages;
    • Slows your player down as you have to be jogging to perform the skill
    • I much prefer the Mcgeady spin which exits at the same angle
    The Bolasie Flick
    98d543be7a9df6815e0c9f0b1e09b340.png
    Requires 5 star skills
    Advatages;
    • Looks amazing in game
    • Great for setting up volleys
    • Can be used at all sorts of angles to create different chances
    Disadvatages;
    • Similar to the Berba spin
    • Can lose control of the ball if you aren't using a high rated dribbler
    The Ball Roll Scoop
    Requires 4 star skills
    Advatages;
    • VERY simple to perform
    • Beats opponents so easy as you can change direction in a instant
    • Can be used at any position on the field
    Disadvatages;
    • None, best combo in the game IMO

    In this section of the guide I will be reviewing each and every 5* skiller starting with the lowest rated (yet to be released) and ending with the highest rated (Ronaldo). I will be reviewing one player per week, in a variety of positions and teams varying from all gold teams fit for divisions to BSG teams for single matches, they will have 5 challenges to complete throughout the week. I will then rate them based on a points system, known as The Skiller Scale ;

    The Skiller Scale Explained
    Pace /10 (A player with 80 pace will score 8.0)
    Shooting /10 (A player with 72 shooting will score 7.2)
    Passing /10 (A player with 81 passing will score 8.1)
    Dribbling /10 (A player with 78 dribbling will score 7.8)
    Defending /10 (A player with 18 defending will score 1.8)
    Physical /10 (A player with 62 physical will score 6.2)
    Linkability /10 (A player with good links such as league and nation will score highly here)
    Diversity /10 (A player who is able to play in well in multiple positions will score well here)
    Value /10 (A player who is cheap will score a higher mark here)
    Weak Foot /5 (A player with 4* weak foot will get 4 points)
    Challenges Complete /5 (If they complete all 5 challenges they will score 5 points here)

    These totals add up to 100 points. I will rank each 5* skiller out of 100 and aim to help identify the best cheap skillers as well as seeing if the Silver cards can hold their own in comparison to their Gold counterparts.

    Below are all the reviews and clips of the players;

    Week 1- Botaka
    1d9e69a0486656d29d4009b8e6bfbbd2.png
    The first player to feature on my FIFA 16 journey is Jordan Botaka. The Leeds United winger looks to be a reasonable budget silver skiller this year, with decent face stats such as 84 pace and 74 dribbling. I look forward to using the Congolese wide man in a variety of positions and formations throughout the week (you can see all the teams I will use below).
    Player Profile

    Key In Game Stats

    79 Dribbling
    67 Long Shots
    Squads

    Challenges
    1. Score 10 goals with Botaka
    2. Get 10 assists with Botaka
    3. Beat a player using the Heel Flick Turn skill before scoring a goal
    4. Beat a player using the Fake Pass before scoring a goal
    5. Beat the keeper using the ball roll before scoring a goal

    These challenges seem very simple to begin with but I, like many of you, will be learning the game. Don't forget that Botaka is only 67 rated and will often be coming up against far superior wing backs so scoring 10 goals may be a fairly tough ask. Also remember that the amount of challenges that are completed has a direct effect on the "Skill Scale Score" for a player.

    Challenges
    1. Score 10 goals with Botaka- Complete
    2. Get 10 assists with Botaka- Complete
    3. Beat a player using the Heel Flick Turn skill before scoring a goal- Complete
    4. Beat a player using the Fake Pass before scoring a goal- InComplete
    5. Beat the keeper using the ball roll before scoring a goal- InComplete

    The Skiller Scale
    Pace 8.4/10- Jordan feels very fast in game, as you can see from many of the above clips he scores plenty of his goals from breaking away from defenders using a mix of skill and pace and its a lethal combination.

    Shooting 5.7/10- His cards stats suggest someone who really struggles with both in the box finishing and long shots. His shooting is mixed, he didnt score me any wonder goals from long range but he did finish most of the chances I would expect him to. He scored 50% of his chances.

    Passing 5.7/10- Botaka can pass, this game has challenged me to keep the ball and I felt that Jordan was more than capable of playing quick one-twos and crossing the ball to both the feet and head of the attackers which helped him complete the 10 assist challenge.

    Dribbling 7.4/10- Honestly amazing considering his rating wouldnt say he is that good on the ball. As a 5* skiller you expect him to be able to dribble but he was head and shoulders above nearly all dribbler I have used as of now on Fifa 16, he can turn a defender in the blink of an eye and I rated his dribbling far far better than his stats would say.

    Defending 2.5/10- Not a brilliant defender but when he was played at RM he more than held his own.

    Physical 6.4/10- Most surprising stat of all IMO. Botaka feels incredibly strong in game, standing at 6ft tall he is quite an imposing and physical winger and this really showed. He could bully many a wingback and managed to grab some nice headed goals due to his strength, jumping and seemingly good aggression stats. He feels very similar to the Silver Bolasie card last year.

    Linkability 4/10- Being from DR Congo and the championship makes Botaka a pretty tricky card to link into challenging squads. He has good nation links to Mulumbu and Lua Lua as well as Toko whom I used. As for league links he has Sandro and a strong link to Berardi at RB who was surprisingly strong for me. A clear weakness but a good hybrid is still possible if you think smart.

    Diversity 6/10- Jordan was very good at the RF and RM position but I felt he was actually most wasted as a RW. His crossing can be very good at time but he can also provide some pretty poor crosses meaning a wasted chance. I found him most useful at RM.

    Value 7.5/10- at 2.2K its not a great gamble of coins, youre getting a strong and pacey winger with some pretty impressive dribbling stats for a very reasonable price. The only thing I would say is that you can also get a reasonably high rated gold player for a similar price which may be the smarter option.

    Weak Foot 3/5- His left foot was fine, didnt miss any real sitters with it but I would not recommend using it from distance.

    Challenges Complete 3/5- Failed a couple of the skill challenges as I will explain in that section.

    Skiller Scale Rating of 59.6/100

    69a79cc4898b4eaac9bdc5523af6c8a8.png

    I would recommend; Cut inside, Stay forward and I used Sniper chemistry style to give him that shooting boost he needs.

    Week 2- Mastour
    8b9c528c30fff5eafcfba3a3e41218d6.png
    Up next is the Moroccan wonderkid Hachim Mastour.

    Player Profile
    KFXLkxp.png?1
    Key Stats
    1. 78 Agility
    2. 77 Balance
    3. 76 Dribbling
    4. 75 Ball Control
    5. 65 Long Shots
    Squads
    ca1e68b7950df4b1a7934970df62855f.png

    c927468c6985e6bb7767bd8928af95df.png
    Challenges
    1. Score 15 goals with Mastour
    2. Get 10 assists with Mastour
    3. Beat a player with the Ball Roll Flick before scoring
    4. Beat a player with the scoop turn before scoring
    5. Score a rabona shot with Mastour.
    The Skiller Scale
    Pace 7.2/10- Hachim actually feels an awful lot faster than 72, his agility and acceleration mean he can burst away from some of the quickest defenders whilst doing both skills and simply running

    Shooting 6.1/10- His shooting in general felt better than Botaka's. He was generally more clinical in front of goal and seemed to get more power behind his shots, especially on his strong right foot. He took penalties for my side and was consistent from the spot.

    Passing 6.0/10- Not a player I tended to pass the ball that often with, he only got 4 assists throughout the games I played and that stat backs up my point. When i did pass it was accurate and he was capaple of creating chances. Not his best stat for sure.

    Dribbling 7.6/10- Honestly amazing on the ball, in some of the clips you are able to see just how easy it is to control Hachim in this game. He turns so quickly and he feels very responsive to even the slightest touches which is a massive plus. Skilling wise Hachim was very strong, some of the goals I managed to score were pretty impressive considering he is only 67 rated, impressed.

    Defending 1.6/10- Non existent tbh. Dont play him as a CDM.

    Physical 3.8/10- Yes Mastour is very weak and at times its frustrating to deal with but his balance feels very good which counters his lack of physical presence. He wont win any headers or many physcial battles at all.

    Linkability 7/10- Being from the Liga BBVA he gets 5 marks there as it is a strong league, and 2 marks for his nation of Morocco, yes they have plenty of 5* skillers but they all tend to be in the same position and therefore difficult to link together in competitive teams. 7 is still a strong score.

    Diversity 6/10- I played Mastour at CAM, CF and CM. He surpassed my expectations in the first two positions where he scored plenty of goals and created lots of chances but any further back then CAM and he will really struggle to get involved and will be tired by the 60 minute mark.

    Value 6/10- At around the 7K mark he is not cheap for a 67 rated player, he plays like a mid rated silver but at 7K you can get a player like Calhanoglu who would obvioulsy bring far greater bonuses to your side.

    Weak Foot 3/5- His left foot is usable but there is a notible difference between the two.

    Challenges Completed 3/5- Fialed the Rabona shot and the 10 assists.

    SKILL SCALE RATING= 57.3/100

    ef8ec335142a4786b029e82bc3e7b3e5.png

    I would recommend giving Mastour the Deadeye chem style and setting him to stay forward as much as possible.

    Week 3- Çiftçi
    a70332ace42b8b1e7bc24e6b24d4ac03.png
    Up next is the Turkish monster Nadir Çifçti!
    Clips
    Player Profile
    image_20.img.jpg
    Key Stats
    • 82 strength
    • 81 shot power
    • 80 agility
    • 72 finishing
    • 76 dribbling
    Squads

    9964212cfd227da1a6fc862f0cb58cbe.png
    Challenges
    1. Score 20 goals
    2. Score a hat-trick
    3. Score a goal after using the elastico chop
    4. Score a goal after using the Bolasie flick
    5. Score a goal after using the ball roll scoop (COMBO)
    The Skiller Scale
    Pace 7.2/10- Nadir feels so much faster than 72, his high agility enables him to turn quickly and burst away from attackers with ease, illusively quick.

    Shooting 7.1/10- By far the most clinical of the skillers I have used so far, he finishes most chances brilliantly and often has far too much power for keepers to handle. His long shots are average but as a striker it is not something that should mark him down. Great in front of goal.

    Passing 5.3/10- Not his best stat, he got 5 assists in the week of playtime which is average but its not something I found too poor.

    Dribbling 7.5/10- Brilliant dribbler! For someone so large and powerful he can weave in and out of defenders so easily its actually a joy to see. He can turn so quickly and at the perfect angle that skilling become so easy with him, by far the best dribbler I have used as a striker this year, trumping Griezman in that stat!

    Defending 3.6/10- Not important.

    Physical 7.5/10- Feels very very strong in the tackle, in the air and when he has the ball at his feet. In a couple of the above clips you will see him shrug defenders off with ease and this is something that very few 5* skills have the ability to do, impressed me an awful lot in that respect.

    Linkability 5/10- Being in the SPL makes him difficult to link, although Gary Mackay-Steven is a great strong link to have. His Turkish links are generally pretty good, Calhanoglu, Yilmaz and Turan are all players I used and would happily use again. It does take time to think of strong teams for Nadir but when you do they do tend to be strong.

    Diversity 4/10- Çiftçi can only really play striker, dont waste him at CF as his passing simply isnt good enough. He is capable of playing in both 2 striker and single striker formations though so he still gets a few points for that.

    Value 8/10- Costing around 2K for the "silver Ibra" is a brilliant price and I would happily pay upwards of 10K for the way he plays. Try him out!

    Weak Foot 4/5- Scored a few with his weak foot but his right foot is monsterous so try to keep it on that!

    Challenges Completed 5/5- First player to complete all the challenges and I'm not surprised, a fantastic striker and one I would highly recommend for others to use!

    Skiller Scale Rating= 64.2/100

    I'm hoping being 6'2 with 90 strength and 69 Aggression is enough to save him that and his work rates with faster players around will be enough if not I will swap out for a new one
  • Apparently Guiliano is five star skills and Ronaldinho and Kelvin should be too.

    That would be great, always useful having skillers who link!

    Really hoping these two stay as 5* skillers, great to link together too.

    This is what i am thinking for the first side with Botaka, a nice strong, mainly gold side with some nice 4* skillers and a very solid defence. Hoping to be able to afford it :)

    Don't suppose any of you are still playing 15?
    Bought TOTS Bolasie and put him as a ST and he has been my best ST in 15, crazy good

    I still play a little, I'm on PS4 btw. Bolasie is a great card, strength, pace and dribbling combo is too much for most defenders.
