Almost playing with nothing to lose being the 'new" side in The MLS. Obviously not just there to make up the numbers and hope to leave a mark to build upon

Looking up the history of new MLS teams and it is certainly a mixed bag. Most finished close to bottom in their conference and then made big improvements in year 2. But recent expansion teams have been competitive right away, some even winning the championship in their first year.

If we finish close to the playoffs, I’ll be happy this season.

This list is not the list of best managers and players in the league, just names I think people here might know.

As a fan of Brøndby, I'm glad to see the mention of Mikael Uhre. I would have expected the same for Hany Mukhtar though.

I did not know he played for Brondby too! I was looking through a list of current players and their nationality to find connections with people here. Good catch.

Thanks, and don't worry about it. He was among Zorniger's contingent of German players brought to Brøndby a good handful of years ago, which almost resulted in a double in 2017/18. They spent above their capacity though, and soon after needed to sell their best players, including Mukhtar. Uhre was one of those who stayed to pick up the pieces, and few expected him to be able to compete at the same level. But he did step up and eventually helped the club to a first league title in 16 years, along with Morten Frendrup, now in Genoa, and Jesper Lindstrøm, now in Frankfurt. Good times...

Well, back on topic; Tough start to the season for St. Louis. Good idea with the league format explanation in the bottom of the spoiler. Certainly makes it easier to catch the meaning of it all

MLS is quite interesting in how it has to be done, because of the distances involved. Going to be something different to see how this progresses.

Tough start, but that's only to be expected with a new club...

I have to ask because my American Geography is terrible, are the conferences correct or does EA randomly change them like do with Papa John's Trophy?

Not a bad start, I know New York Red Bulls is not an easy opponent so for that to be first ever opponent 2-0 defeat probably not that bad.

The travel in American sports is crazy compared to other sports. You’re lucky if you have a game only a few hours from home, most are 5+ hour travels.

The conferences are correct besides San Jose missing. I removed them to add my created team but the rest of the teams and conferences are accurate. I understand America and Germany geography but outside of the London area, I know nothing about England so I didn’t even notice the Papa John trophy was not accurate when I played it in years past.

So I suppose we'll never see Guardiola coaching in the US then

Well, if he's bringing Man City's accountants, I'm not sure there are any limits to what you can do.

Jokes aside, you're enduring some struggles in the league, but at least you're beginning to make yourself one that is hard to beat, four games unbeaten across competitions. That's always a good foundation for success, something to build from.

Great result in the cup. I'm not sure if you're aware that achieving the cup objectives is quite necessary to avoid the risk of getting fired. But nevertheless, it's great to see you start well in the competition.

    Ooh, painful!

Anyway, I echo what you said about the cup objective. It's a bit silly really.

You had me worried, I was not aware of the league cup objective. Luckily, I already accomplished it by reaching the round of 16. I do not want to get sacked from my created club so I also went out and signed a free agent to a crucial role just to complete that objective too, even though I was hoping to keep the squad the same in year 1.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Big win against NYRB and whilst the league form is stuttering that's currently 3 games without defeat (4 In all comps) so there are signs of improvement.

Also the objectives are annoying at times I completely changed direction of a past career because they insisted I signed Multiple North American players. The irony that it was Leeds and who they've signed since does make me laugh, but was still annoying at the time

Haha, just FIFA predicting real life events, eh?

That is kind of funny it happened in real life then lol. But I agree, the objectives are annoying when I have my own goals/plans for the club.

A crucial signing for the club from free agency to complete the boards objective for marketing.

St Louis doing much better than anticipated. Still very close in your conference with lots of games to go. Can they hold out and make the Playoffs in debut year?
    Nice goal too
