Anybody else in the same boat?

I've managed to scrap 45p in every WL, but last one was short by a point.

What's worse - I can't even win in a silver cup match. Played some nerve breaking matches with penalties and lost... for a mega pack. Really?

SB is so strange this year, same high rated squads.

Foundation objectives seem also harder than it's worth -

Didn't touch trading for couple of weeks. Just lost all interest, with new accelerate system don't really see any point in cards like Mbappe.

I was optimistic at first.. but gameplay is now such a drag. Same goals that comes down to putting the ball inside the penalty box for an easy score. And it's down to luck if the pass goes through.

High press is also soul crushing. Pack weight seems lower than ever.

I know the usual response - take a break, see you next week.

Perhaps until the world cup mode, that could be the breath of fresh air. :/

It’s the pack weight that’s killing it for me. Just so demoralizing to grind all week and get nothing back in return (my E1 rewards from SB just now were highlighted by Ben Chillwell and Jordan Henderson).

I mean, I paid for the game just like everyone else. Why is it wrong to want to be rewarded the same as someone spending hundreds of dollars on FIFA Points?

It’s the same inconsistencies that are taking the shine off it for me. My players should feel the same and have the same capabilities in every game regardless of the opponents team or tactics or more commonly, just because... If that means they’re always crap, I’ll live with it, and upgrade them/learn to use them to their strengths.

    Matchmaking.

In Fifa it's weird from my observations. I have all the time same experience as you do - sometimes I can't win almost any single match. But sometimes I am winning almost every match. It's not tilt/my form/humour/connection/anything like that. It's quality of opponents I am facing. I think elo rating may be calculated with delays, not after every match. It results in constant win/lose streaks for people. Maybe it's a bug or something.

Advise for taking a break is most reasonable - but not 'to rest' or 'to clear mind'. But to let EA recalculate your ELO when you're losing. Basically you lose like 3-5 matches and you feel you're playing with people above you -> wait few hours, come back and very likely you will start playing with average/noob players. You will get some wins. Never keep playing if you're losing constantly. Unless you're a buddhist monk of course.

It's my observation only, but it works perfectly for me.

Note that Fifa players didn't change as a whole during last year. And there are players of every level, of every team power level. Just matchmaking is somehow messed up and it does not match people at similar skill level.

Im close to deleting my 3 mil coin club and moving on for good.

they've removed the option to delete your club this year. As a first in Fifa history it's something that's got to be done manually

I agree with all the input here — to quote BB King, “the thrill is gone..”

I just stop playing- own gol or turn game off (if losing) when a lot of the stuff described here happens - mystifies me how people go undefeated in any online mode —

I do di minimus squad battles but some — everything works fine in this mode for my team — I go online and it’s a shhh it show of delay, errant passing, switch failures — rebound tackles — night and day —

The game just isn't fun and then you grind the game open rewards and get Zapata as your best card to improve your team. The gameplay is so ❤️❤️❤️❤️, last year had faults but it was much more enjoyable.

If you’re on Xbox and have Game Pass, MLB The Show is a lot of fun. Plus you can build a great team just by playing the game. In other words, it’s pretty much the polar opposite of FIFA.

Haven’t played anything else lately other than MWII (the campaign was kinda meh).

Same here, quit for a couple of years and enjoying the new gen a a super fast connection. Some games (mostly during the day) are mud fests but my pack luck has been immense. Got Cristiano early on and Haaland a couple of weeks ago. Div 6 and slowly climbing (I’m 57)

Yeah I’m playing casually now. This is by far the worst football game I can remember.

Imagine all these great footballers of the past and present. How stupid have they been? Didn’t they realise you only have to hit a shot with the outside of your foot to score?

The game is a shambles. AI defending yet again means less talented players play half the game and let AI play the other half.

I don't even encounter those trivela shot abusers. I'm in divison 4, on my way to div 3. It's probably a menace in higher divisions like 2 and 1, and pro matches, I've seen them using it a lot. But Pro matches are almost completely different game. If I was that good, and played Fifa on such level - surely I wouldn't be this bored. So all the remarks are strictly casual.

The basic concept needs a little bit of tweak. Why not make promo cards more available as WL picks just like in TOTS?

I would suggest to make explosive cards stand out more and make skill moves and dribbling much more effective.

I get that low pack weight makes better cards desirable - but common... Pack opening is actually depressing.

    In similar position ,
Love playing fifa in general , have a very decent team , moved up to last segment in div1 - and still not feeling it - every game is some kind of different in terms of delay or irresponsive gameplay on next gen or just strange things and goals happen - players performing weird AI triggered runs or direct passing just not working for like 10-20 in game minutes . Killin the vibe …

One game my Ribéry performs his skill moves the other game right after all the inputs I gave him it seems not to work or mayve my skill move inputs have a 50:50 failure rate per games …

The inconsistency of the gameplay makes it less enjoyable for me …

Also pack weight is at an all time low and pack luck is a key point for me - as for us all …

Updating my Gran turismo that I haven t played for a while and will take some fifa time off I think untill Weekend League or next season …

Oh I'm not even touching new games issue - Fifa is way too time consuming. God of War is in 9 days.. and bunch of other games I've started. Even watching movies and tv shows seems refreshing instead of playing dull SB and WL games.

I don't have the game. I had been waiting to get an Xbox X (picked up yesterday) but have been following the forum to see opinions from folk (I did try the trial on PC but lasted an hour... Didn't think that was long enough to make a judgement though).

What I would say is I've seen a lot of feedback describing what you have described. Now, we will always have folk moaning about stuff but when it's from people that have gotten on with things and found how to enjoy previous titles, it holds a lot more weight. As such, I'm probably waiting until it's free to give it a go.

The biggest problem EA seems to face here is, they have built a new game that seems to be less fun than the old gen version. In doing so, some gamers seem to be stuck because they want to enjoy themselves but know that the ps5/xboxX version is basically how it will be for the next few years and don't want to slip further behind in terms of understanding game mechanics. End result? People playing a game they don't enjoy and resenting the fact.

No idea where they go from here tbh. They've been making FIFA on the cheap for years now so do they even have the resources to really fix this?

I actually took a break from january to september last year. Said I will never touch Fifa again and couldn't resist the temptation of the new season. But never have I been so bored in october before. Usually the hype holds until TOTS at least.

At first, gameplay was new and refreshing, slower in a way simulation should be. Nice net animation and ball physics. Hypermotion is not so much of an improvement, so you're not missing out much.

Overall I'd say improvements are too subtle and it's more of a less the same game. Some stuff don't work anymore, like dribbling... and there are "major" mechanical differences, defenders now catch up to non-lenghty attackers with relative ease. But to a untrained eye, it would look almost like the same game. At least the struggle is the same. "Stuck in a mud" struggling with analogues while the game and lucky pass/rebound decides the match usually in overtime. We are playing the same game, against or with the help of same AI algorythm.

Time consumation is absoultey shocking aspect of Fifa - and no wonder we expect better rewards for it. But how much do we rally love Fifa, to sacrifice our time, energy, other games, social life...? It's addictive nature is chemicaly explained by increased endorphin levels even when we lose. It's something to worry about for sure, and the reason this game has us oldtimers in it's grip for such a long time. One might say it's even evil in desing, but it's just a premium product of modern entertainment industry. It's good business releasing all those shiny cards that performs almost the same. I'm just not sure I'm audience for it anymore. It's too repetative and mechanical, actual improving the game is hard and it's always a good motivation in the first month of the game.

The first two weeks I enjoyed, just like the past two editions.
But since then the game feels atrocious, players taking extra touches. Not making first time passes or shots when it's what inputted. Constant pressure being too op,
Pack weight being pretty dire for most.

Trivella nonsense, jeez even the menus are absolutely shockingly slower this year.

Yep not felt as "bored/frustrated/disappointed" with FUT since just prior to March 18. St Patricks day promo/fut birthday promo just all turned for me (also after making 11 wl wins auto qualify rather than 18 out of 40) which is when I got totally hooked and yes don't get me wrong a lot has been so amazing in what 4 and a half years.

However I just feel I've beaten the game now, I know EA too well in just making it a "pointless" grind. Get packs but just not even worth thinking about opening at this stage as only get rubbish tradeable which you now cant even sell in bulk on app, untradeable duplicates with no sbc that is really worth putting in. Yes "at some point" there might well be but you cant wait until then (well you can which is my point i am) but so boring.

Also even if I could pick any 11 players to say start this wl, I still probably wont get say 14 wins (never got more than 12 (out of 20, once got 20 out of 30) yet with current squad I can get 9 wl wins comfortably (11 9 9 10 in wl so far) so yes roll on world cup mode as fair enough obviously that is something very different and yes then be close to toty to open all that I have saved and will save for that then go from there.

I actually don’t think it’s slow or boring. It can be brilliant when it works properly and the game becomes a bit more strategic. The game is just broken as it all depends on EA’s servers and they do not want to invest in their infrastructure.

I genuinely do not believe it's an infrastructure issue at this point. They've spent years putting the game into more and more data centres and people still complain about the game not working. Add in the fact you have other games using servers in the same data centre without anything like the same problems and that tells me the problem is with the underlying netcode in the game that's just not remotely optimized. Whether they cannot fix or don't want to invest in upgrading that is another story.

    Either way I imagine the conversation would go something like…;

    ‘What’s next on the agenda?’
‘Online gameplay for FIFA 23 is massively inconsistent leading to frustration in the player base.’
‘do we need to fix it?’
‘What do you mean, ‘do we need to fix it?’, it’s broken’
‘what I mean is, is it affecting our bottom line?’ ‘Ah, I see…no it isn’t…in fact the data suggests the increased frustration correlates with higher pack sales…I’ll just put a line through it.’
