The one sided gameplay is deciding 80-90% of the results. Don’t get me wrong the greats are able to overcome it, but us average players it feels like it’s decided before we even begin (based on the favorable connection)
What is more unbeliavable and unfair than the lag itself is that its not even for both players. Often when i honestly am unable to play at all due to input lag, my opponent seems to be playing just fine and thats what is the most dismotivating factor.
Completely agree with this. Played about 10 games of rivals last night and lost them all. Yeah “get good” bla bla bla. I took the lead in over half of them and in 3 games I went 2-0 up. Still lost them all. Strange.

Probably the element of surprise at the start but too predictable to build further on that lead and lack of defensive skills to see out the game.

Lol. No no I have to disagree.
It is the online connection between competing players, especially with tons of players who bought the game playing at the same time because, the WL is from Friday to Monday all around the world!
I'd like to add that in half of the games I took a 3-0 lead in FUT 23 on new gen, I lost! in mostly before the final whistle
It's the wild waves of online gameplay like a roller-coaster at critical times in the match...it only takes a couple of 2 minutes (our time) of stupid touches by some of your supposedly top players to ruin everything for you.
Online gameplay needs a complete overhaul, there must be some sort of gaming connection technology out there to give players the quality that is as close to LAN play as possible.

Rational response from best players around here is always welcome, but I'm a poor connection veteran and getting 50 ping on 100 mb speed at 6 a.m. on a saturday is something that didn't happen in 22.
I was trying to start a thread but dunno why, i cant. anyway, anyone have problems with players sprint? e get the ball, i press the button in a straight line, but the players just wont spring...anyone with this problem?
One sided gameplay has become my favourite quote on here I think. If everyone is complaining about it, how’s it one sided? People only say it’s one sided when they lose, everyone experiences it.
Would just be nice if the crap connection was the same for both players .
Good or bad just make it fair EA.
Watching my opponents defenders run away from my 99 paced players is frustrating beyond belief.
It's no wonder so many quit.
This is still a thing within the coding and mechanics of gameplay.
It used to be displayed in old fifa games but now it's a hidden anomoly and can have an impact on whether the gameplay will feel "on your side" or against you
I used to think that was the case, now I think it’s maybe 20% on average and 100% in certain games. I’ve felt for the last 15 games or so that I have a very good chance of winning most games and a lot of goals conceded are down to me being slow and not reading play, or my opponent overloading my defence (with good play or well timed tactics) or a mixture of both. Servers do play a part but less than I’ve felt they have in the past.

I’ve been on both sides of it. I’ve been in games where my players are so unresponsive they cannot do anything. And I’ve been in games where I can just tell that my opponent is experiencing the same thing.
A good stat to look at is tackles and tackles won. A lot of games my defensive AI won’t tackle so I have to manually initiate the tackle (which is honestly the way it should be), then you see your opponents stats and they have a tackles win % we’ll over 80% and you realize they could press the tackle button at any time and the AI wins them the ball

Ya and I honestly hate winning games when I know my opponent had zero chance. I have very few games that I play where it felt like it was a great match
I saw a Twitter post by Krasi who was frustrated playing with input delay — so yes top players do experience it but are often able to overcome it.
the worst games I’ve had have been on ping higher than 30. Sometimes w better ping the inputs and movements are slow — sometimes I am able to adjust and more often I just get frustrated.
It’s been this way for years and it’s not going to change unless ea changes their infrastructure…

I turned off cross play and ping went back to 32-34-36 as it was last year. With crossplay on it's from 38 upwards. No need to say how the gameplay is in those games. Also saying early morning and late night feels a lot better but I play to have fun so... Can't go up in the morning to play WL lol.

But of course. They start sprinting 1 second later and by then the opponent is already near me making a bounce. Surprisingly his player accelerates instantly from the moment he selects it. Happened the other way around in some games but it's more not sprinting for my side nowadays. On the good side it forces me to play a passing game that I like. When the passes go in. And that's another story for another topic lol.
thing is when you win you will not think about other team, but i could notice some matches i deserved to lose but my players were in beast mode and poor guy kept hitting the post! it was 4-2 and i wanted to put a goal on my own net to ease his rage so i aimed towards my goal with keeper and it hits the post!

Thing is, 6 am or after 11 pm are my best chances to have fun at all with 23. Location specifics (mountains, touristic destination - so no fibre, 4G with speed limited by provider at large traffic on weekends) mean I don't really moan about it, just accept it, but this year it got noticeably worse.
Two ways i can usually tell in game that there are connection / server issues is when the passing suddenly goes to [email protected]#k and doesnt go where you want it to or is underpowered and player switching doesnt happen.
Thats the most frustrating as you can see the dangerous run, you are right stick switching and either nothing happens or it switches to wrong players
Every match is desame, constant pressure from the start, delay so your players don’t pass the ball, when you have the ball there’s 10 players from the other team in their box and they’re just waiting for your move.

It just gets more and more obvious every year.

That would be a dream, in the USA most of us are 18+ Ping.
I have found that the ping has very little to do with it. Some of my most delayed games have had a ping of 4.
I wonder how long before that EA fanboy ❤️❤️❤️❤️ closes this thread…

I am however playing less now than ever.

I never ever in my life saw less than 30 ping on my screen. Even doubt such thing can exist. Where are you from?

Press pass, wait, wait a bit longer, get tackled.
