Is it just me or do the potential of all players at your club go down? Even players playing every game in excellent form don't grow much in the second season. This is kinda spoiling fifa for me.

Here's an example from the Bug page:
"I’m having the same problem. For instance, I had Christhian Mosquera on my team, status was Showing Great Potential. He started almost every game in season 1 and had a cumulative rating of 7.7. At beginning of season 2, his status changed to At The Club Since, and his development stopped when he hit 78 overall, at age 19 no less. So dumb. At the beginning of season 3, after having an equally good season 2, his potential did not change and he was still frozen at 78 overall with no growth left."
The same for me... But actually, I'm kind of enjoying it, to be honest. I was always benching my best players too often, because I wanted a realistic growth and not that skyrocketing growth to a 95 potential, which we saw in the past couple of games. Now I can actually present my favoured lineup in most/all games without the fear of them becoming unrecognizably overpowered.
I would want young players to be able to grow as well, though, so it's not like I think the current (and bugged) state is perfect or anything. But at some point I do feel it's actually an improvement from the dynamic potential of FIFA21 and 22.
It's really disheartening to invest in young talent, play them enough to become a great player for any team in Europe but in the next year their potential goes down and makes all the development moot. I played with a big club first so I had money to replace them if I wanted but in a Road to Glory this ruins a team. I had a "Potential to be Special" player that I signed from my academy midway through the season and played him every single game until the end and he still went down to "Exciting Prospect." At the very least it should be an option when starting a career mode to turn it on or off. If on, people can make any player a superstar that they want and on off, it presents a new challenge and probably results in more realistic transfer fees
Has there been any talk about this getting fixed? Career mode has been going downhill, but I still have fun with RTGs and this bug really kills it. I had a couple high potential players come through the academy and none of them have potential tags in the third season.
I don't mind some players not making the max potential it keeps it real. But I've had a few with potential of 85-92 in youth academy only to promote them and immediately be hit with "at the club since 2023" in bio.
I'm assuming this is like old fifa games where that means they aren't growing much more?

Have you noticed that the CPU game in career mode is monotonous? Manchester city, Liverpool play the same way as Blackburn or Udinese. They never have ball possession, they never cross. They only play on the counterattack. Shall we open a discussion on trello? It is really boring. I play in ultimate mode.

I don't think so. Youngsters shouldn't change potentials when promoted to the first team. So if they show "at the club since" despite a high potential, it must be because they have an overall rating below 60. Players will only show these "showing great potential" and "exciting prospect" status', if they are above 60 in the overall rating. But yes, give it to the end of the season, and the potentials will drop for sure.
I won't buy the game until this is resolved because I only do Youth Academy saves in career mode. If they can't grow, then I have nothing to do in the game.
I promoted a kid yesterday, with potential 86-94 and he came through as having potential to be special.
It must be a bit hit and miss.
I don't think it's hit or miss. Your kid must have had at least 60 overall rating. I promise, that if he had had 59 overall rating or less, then you would have seen the "at the club since" status.

Yes, I know. I had that in '22, where I had an 87-93 player I promoted with a current rating of 59, because I would otherwise lose him. As soon as he hit 60 then it changed to 'has potential to be special'. Whether that's the reason still, all the time, only EA would know.

Dynamic potential would affect his potential in season 2-3 and beyond, not his initial potential. The issue is that the player drops from PTBS to exciting or even lower over the next couple seasons despite performance.

I was just reacting to some people commenting that they saw a reduction on promotion to the first team. I know the reductions happen later - sometimes.

I've tested the mod with my career mode saves and it works beautifully, player potential ratings do not change at season end. I can now play career mode again!"

Note that, despite the howls of protest from lots of people, nothing has been done about it yet.

Over on the PC version,. one of the modders has come up with a temporary fix. Won't work with consoles, though.
