What version of FIFA will you continue playing?

It seems that pace stats on next gen are irrelevant, as per the video from Zelonius which @Orison posted here:
https://fifaforums.easports.com/en/discussion/631610/lengthy-is-pretty-much-irrelevant

Essentially what the video found is that there was no difference between a CR7 with architect and one with hunter chem styles. I think Zelonius found that a ~20 pace difference is equivalent to 0.5s in real time.

Some will say it’s about time that slower players can hold their own after years of pace being the most important stat. However, it does mean that smaller, agile players are now at a disadvantage if pace is not particularly important as dribbling is worse than previous years.

I know some have gone back to old gen because of this, whilst others have embraced new gen as they want to try a different game this year.

One issue I see with new gen going forward is that as tactics become more developed, people get better at pressuring, the lack of dribbling and pace being irrelevant will mean that it’ll be a battle of attrition in some games. Also how can EA push the power curve as the game cycle moves forward if pace is irrelevant? People will now put chem styles that boost stats other than pace…IF KDB will have mid 90s dribbling, high shooting/passing already with the correct chem style so what future card would trump that?

I just can't go through playing another year of fifa 22 with old gen.

It has more to do with I feel midfield stops a ball on new gen. Also defense doesn’t sit as tight on you on new gen so you have to manually defend more in the box or give up an extra pass goal.

Do we even know how much of a difference pace makes on old gen?

Also new gen in the way forward so might as well get used to it.

I still need more time on some of the new changes. Dribbling was so op last year everyone feels worse which they should. Small agile players feel like they turn faster just not like last year.

I am hoping that we will actually pick good players now not just pace like past fifas.

Is there cross play between old and new gen? If so, does that mean new gen players behave differently vs my players?

I feel I should do this but I think new gen will be even worse this year when everyone learns to play the same way etc.

I mean this surely can’t mean pace on new gen is working correctly?

People paying £70 to play an old gen version of fifa that hasn’t changed properly in years is wild

They fixed the drop back issue from last year so I’ll stick with new gen for this year

I have try the new gen version for 40/50 match... I found it completely unplayable, too pressing and the whole game is based on feints and counterfeits made in series ... I definitely prefer the old-gen version at least there is some real football made up of geometries and spacing

Haven't tried old gen but tempted to now. Next gen looks nice but the gameplay is awful, players can't even make 2 yard passes for me and almost every shot in and around the box gets blocked.

I’ve only played old gen for now (my son is on the ps5).
It’s a little better than fifa22, at least defenders are more responsive.
None of that lenghty stuff, so small & agile players still rule the game.
Still have to get out of div7…i’m facing good players all the time.

As a whole, I prefer the game feeling like an actual simulation to real match. Yeah there’s broken stuff in the game but as a whole I much prefer it.

@ha032742 I'm on old gen and pace is just different than in the past. So, even though the AcceleRATE thing is new gen, there's something in the way its coded for this year that has an impact on old gen too.

I'm running Dalglish up top who at times feels so quick. Although, his pace is next to nothing if he's being marked. Doesn't matter if i'm being tugged. . if there's a player within a few yards his pace is just gone, no acceleration or anything.

I have Bobby Moore and Baresi in defense and they feel very quick. I was just testing out this pace thing and they hold their ground. I'm curious if others will try them and provide feedback.

Saw Italian stallion new video. He brought up a good point. Old gen is going to be super sweaty. People getting new console as casuals will most likely switch over. People who purposely choose old gen for the speed skill moves ect will make it so much harder.

Bump, decided I’m going to stay on next gen after last WL which wasn’t as bad as I expected…rivals on the other hand is a bit tedious and I’m only in division 3 so far :D

New gen ,it's frustrating at times and difficult though I'm adjusting, got to 16 wins in WL this weekend that I didn't expect .

Plus I don't want to play another year on old gen , won't try it because I know I'll probably prefer the gameplay but it's basically FIFA 21 version 3 I bet.

FIFA is like the only game I play to mostly so playing old gen again would make having a PS5 pretty pointless 😂

Think I'd quit playing rather than go to old gen again.

Old gen is alot easier to smash out games on, feels less tedious to play because it's quicker if it's anything like last year , but yea don't want to play a rehash version again.

New gen with slow gameplay can be so draining to play after a couple intense games, but I'll try to stick to it this year.
