I expect this thread will draw a lot of git gud responses but I just needed to write down my thoughts.
Futties cups feels, for one reason or another, like a complete sham to me.
I can play a friendly in another mode, such as classic kick off and the game is stable, responsive and generally very playable. I then play futties cup, which has a better ping than the other friendly variations but is the complete opposite.
It is very unstable, without any yellow or red flags, it is very unresponsive, with horrible lag, and is generally unplayable.
It seems like AI is super unhelpful for me, but very efficient for the opponent. passes, shots and tackles are ineffective (I’m sure many know the drill). The problem is, this is a limited game mode and I do not have the option to back out and try again. I slee St o feel I need to grind the game (it feels like I am literally pushing my players to get them where I want to go as they have their own path they want to take, even when the cursor is above them, in order to try to get a win out of it for the chance of a nice reward.
Anyway, I feel that IF the reason for this is connection based (but the ping?), I’d be much happier the ping was accurate and I could spend four or five mins looking for a game that is stable (it’s a 15-18 min game with pens) than a fake ping and a very unenjoyable 15-18 mins. If it isn’t the ping, what is it? It’s not my connection, I have a great router, high speed bb and a cat 8 Ethernet cable…

Absolutely spanked everyone for Cunha and Lodi.
And the team I took into the Brazil matches has a lot of the same players in (La Liga/Brazil).
Yet my entire team "FEELS" different, they don't press the same, they don't make runs the same.
It's mad.
It's like they don't turn up at all in this game mode.
This is what annoys me the most about FUT. I expect my team to feel exactly the same on the ball, all of the time. That is the minimum you should expect from a game that is not just masquerading as an esport. I don’t care if I get beaten by a better player, even if they have a lesser team than me. If I get beaten by a predictable player with a garbage team whilst playing a mode called ULTIMATE TEAM, then I am simply not happy about it. If the loss is due to the way the game plays (and not because of a deficit in my own game or due to my unforced errors), then I am bound to be frustrated…but then, addicted, frustrated people are known to make rash decisions, such as making impulse purchases, so, why would EA fix it?
I am still RTG though, so suck it EA…although I am down a good few hundred hours (so suck it, me…)…
Recently it seems to vary depending on the game mode. Anything in the Friendlies tab and Rivals is almost unplayable for me, while Champs and Champs qualifiers are quite responsive depending on the time of day (peak time UK is awful, for example, regardless of the mode).
This is wired, and the best Virgin Media have to offer in the UK. Virgin connection seems a lot worse than Sky/Now in our area, as we used to average steady 8/10 ms and it's now 16-20 in the same house, so everyone's experience is going to be affected by a bunch of factors unique to where you connect from.
I think your opponent's tactics play a part too, along with the awful servers and connectivity issues. All of it adds up to make this game a random ❤️❤️❤️❤️ show at times, and of course it's a mode full of some of the sweatiest desperados you'll find online, which should also be taken into consideration.
Opponents tactics do play a part for sure but they shouldn’t influence how our players feel to the extent that they do. It’s lazy programming, ie someone wants to get the ball back but they are not skilled enough to do it. Press team pressure and use constant pressure…defending team falls apart and can’t pass two yards whilst unmarked…it’s very, very poorly implemented. The programming and design team do not have enough knowledge or expertise to be able to create real coordination on the pitch, ie Liverpoolesque counter pressing and trap setting, so the impact the possession teams ability to pass the ball.
What should really happen is that the defending team press intelligently and reduce space and time, this shouldn’t effect t the pixelated players on the pitch though, what it should affect us the controlling players decision making when under the pressure created by the reduced thinking time…it’s like a double (triple) whammy. You have less time to think, your players can’t pass even when they could (and three), because you know your players are garbage and are unlikely to make any pass, you freeze and concede possession rather than play the route one bull that the game is forcing you to play even though it is counter intuitive.
It shouldn’t change from game to game or game mode to game mode…this is supposed to be an esport…
