Prime Xavi.

Anyone tried him? My plan is to get him from swaps and play him as an balanced cm in a 41212 narrow with Sow as cdm and Guendouzi as a stay back cm. Xavi is going to replace Foden HM in that position. Toughts on that?

M so confused

My base xavi has been phenomenal in 3-5-2(after eating dust for months)

But he's the only card that struggles aerially,,I thought about getting his prime,but now I feel a gullit card is more suited for my playstyle(target man lob spamming 😆)

Also cannavaro is constantly demanding my attention

I got him, and honestly he's so underwhelming. As much as I admired his brilliance irl and tried to persevere with the card he's just not that good ingame.

He's not good enough going forward or defensively to play as a box to box, and I tried him as a deep lying playmaker but his attacking workrate means he plays too far forward for that role.

Obviously he's decent on the ball and his passing is good, although knowhere near the level it should be. The card simply has too many deficiences to be effective in this game, and i've gone back to Milinkovic Savic who is miles better....

Such a shame that EA are incapable of making a game where geniuses like Xavi are effective. I'll still use him for nostalgia but there is already many better players in game than him and it's only going to get worse as the power curve shifts, so i'd advise to stay away unless he's a player you have an attachment to irl.

Maybe my systems don't suit. I used him as RCM in 532 and 4321 as a box to box on balanced, and also as the CCM in 532 as a playmaker and found him average at both tbh.

I had mid Gullit alongside him who has everything, and also either Chalobah or Zakaria for the defensive strength and to add the physicality that Xavi lacks but games just seemed to pass him by...for me the special Verratti card that came out months ago is still better ingame than Xavi.

I used xavi alongside Vieira n draxler early on,but he was average

I used him in 3-5-2 just for chemistry as RCM on balanced,,chalobah as stay back LCM n KDB as stay forward CAM,n he has been a revelation,,his only drawback is his height,,I prefer lob passes(as mentioned previously) n while xavi gives some of the sexiest lob ones for my target men,he's incapacitated when receiving hisself,,with a hunter he can score some crucial goals too(he has scored a lot),,this is his base version 😉

I used 7 tokens on him and he has been phenomenal for me. Passing is the best I’ve used in the game and he is brilliant on the ball. He has his weaknesses being pace and shooting at times but his passing overshadows those issues. I’ve been playing him in a 41212 narrow at LCM and 442 at CM in elite. He does need someone like Kante along side him.

I really rate the prime xavi card. Rapid reactions, dribbles like Messi on steroids, and can ping a ball with sublime accuracy.

Yes he's weak and defensively isn't the best but in terms of setting up shop for a counter with Xavi being the prime outlet for a through ball/defence splitting pass, he's your man.

He also pops up with a goal for me now and again. He has good attacking awareness.

7 tokens is a steal for this card imo.
