Best value for coins by far in cm is toty cancelo if you can position switch him there
I feel there are better options now

I have both untradeable and play them both in the midfield, I agree Cancelo is still a top tier CM, but TOTY Kante definitely better, he can literally do everything well, his passing doesn't feel like a weak point and his finishing is good too.
I think the key is you can put a Hunter on Kante due to his perfect Defence stats, which makes his Shooting much better, while Cancelo could do with either Anchor or Hawk depending on what you want to focus on (I use Anchor). Overall, TOTY Kante is quite possibly the most responsive player in the game, his influence in a match is only second to Gullit in my experience.
I don't feel the need to upgrade from Cancelo (unless I can get Gullit of course), but if I have to take one of them out of the midfield then it's an easy decision, I'd keep TOTY Kante.

I actually played Hakimi as CDM for a WL. He was solid.

Gullit doesnt need high/High because of his tall bodytype, he ist everywhere.
But Cancelo is sometimes out of postion, his workrates arent great for cm
