Is Varane worth it?

I know he is a million coins, but I, as well as many others, will not actually be spending all those coins due to having fodder in the club already. He looks like a beast but I wanted to get some opinions/reviews of him first

Worth it

100%, especially if you’re grinding upgrade packs. His unique body type and animations are unmatched (until HL VVD gets 2 more upgrades).

If he were only available for a week then I'd say no, but you can use season rewards to knock off a decent chunk of the cost and be really patient accumulating free fodder, so I don't think it's too bad. Realistically, even if a better version were released, this version looks good enough to use for the rest of the game.

Hands down the best defender on the game at this point in time. His body type is unmatched, he bullies everyone and if they do turn him he catches them near instantly.

TOTYHM Rudiger isn’t far off, either, I played 10 games last night and between him and Varane I think I annoyed a fair few people who just couldn’t get through. I play a high line and usually have a lot of the ball - but even on counter attacks these two ate up attacks for fun.

Definitely worth doing as the 1mil price tag will be less with fodder and rewards going in to it as well. I ended up being able to do mine without spending after I opened up all my saved TOTY packs

Played like 10 games with him. My gameplay is shocking this weekend so I can’t tell much difference to Darmian or Pique.
But for me he was worth it, another position solved until the end of the game for me.
Also coins and fodder invested for sth I knew what I get and he has great links too

He is worth if you slow grind but I disagree with this comment particularly on him catching people that run past.

Not just in my own experience but resoundingly, if you read comments on FUTBIN as well he *is* slow on the turn and will not always catch runners.

It is however not much different to how Varane worked in 21.

You have to up your player switching game with him so you can stay on top of runners.

He is always in good position - the rest is up to your switching ability. .

From my experience sinking 1 mil in untreatable card is a never good idea.

He's worth it as he is pretty much end game - yes it's expensive but if you are using the same cards for months on end it's worth it IMO. I packed TOTY Marq from Ligue 1 upgrades and although I've only played a few games Varane has outshined him so far..

Completely 100% he is end game until all the ridiculous tots / summer stars start being handed out like candy at the end of the game cycle. Absolute rock / auto blocker supreme / long legs / quick / easy links / get rid of untradable fodder across 30 days.

So far he's been good just about to pair him with 94 maldini, hopefully that's the keeper and back 4 in for the rest of the game.

I had about 85 packs full of fodder yesterday. What else better was to complete?

It costed me 150K as I was bored of opening packs. I more or less recovered the fodder spent.

I am happy with Varane as of 29 January and fits in my team.

Who cares about Rudiger???????

Don't think its worth it with coins only or even with a large injection of coins but I'm doing it anyway to put dupes somewhere. Same with Kane.

I'm 5/7 on Varane, 2/4 on Kane, 1/2 Savarnier, done Paqueta, done Dest, done Mid/Prime Icon, not started Lauturo. This grind and TOTS grind are the most enjoyable parts of the game imo. It is normally deflating getting no major pulls however it is worthwhile knowing I'm able to work towards these SBCs.
