I've got to say... This is the most enjoyable FIFA for many years... So far. Please don't patch it EA.

I've got a full Manchester United RTG team (check out my thread - https://fifaforums.easports.com/en/discussion/607379/manchester-united-road-to-glory), but the gameplay is so much more realistic and no longer relies just on pace and 5* skill moves. I love the fact that players like Maguire have been an absolute rock for me. Cavani is a usable striker even though he has 66 pace, but these are some of the reasons why the game is so much better this year.

I feel like in the games I've played too that you actually have to try and break a team down, with slower, more realistic build-up play attempting to find that killer pass. This FIFA is so much more fun, enjoyable and realisitic, and I hope it stays this way!

It's nice to put a positive post on here, because usually it's just full of negativity! :)

To be honest, I had fun without spamming skill moves (because I can't) or long through balls in the last FIFA either. Pace is a massive benefit in this FIFA as well, but I do agree with you in that it's not as big as last year. All in all, I'm not finding the gameplay to be significantly different from last year's, apart from the superhuman GKs.

The rivals system is much worse in this FIFA though.
  • I agree. Apart from the nonsense of timed finesse from 35 yards out, I’m enjoying the gameplay much more this year. There is still the odd moment of frustration as always with dodgy passes and unlucky bounces but generally I’m pleased. It’s great not always needing 90+ pace and quality footballers can actually be used this year. It’s also nice playing similar squads at this stage of the game cycle. Last year, people were already turning up with Neymar, Mbappe and 3 icons.

Well said Tom fully agree mate.

All the self relegators are fuming due to the new rivals system as well which makes it even better. Of course in a football game we need a promotion/relegation system but sadly this playerbase couldn't be trusted with that.

Nice to hear some positive comments back! Unfortunately was away last weekend, and I'm away this weekend so haven't managed to play FUT Champs yet, but hopefully will be qualify for next week.

Quick Q... If I get through the Play-Offs this week, am I able to enter next week instead of this week by chossing?

Yes, you get a qualification token that you can redeem whenever you choose in the current season.

Apart from the finesse shots, inconsistent GK's and undefendable long through balls I agree

    one correction from me

I really enjoy this as well! I have not really been that bothered by the superhuman GKs because I feel like it is equally between my goalkeeper and my opponents, it is consistent 95% of the times which makes it fair. Even though we have the super GKs, my games still end up 3-2, 3-3, 4-5 etc.

When it comes to using different cards this year I am absolutely loving it. Currently running a Seria A hybrid with EPL and using Zlatan Ibrahimovic as my strike and I enjoy to have him up there. I packed Haland in my loyality packs and used him for awhile but I rather prefer Zlatan over Haland due to the slow and clunky Haland feels. Zlatan feels agile, and quick, even though he isn't fast.

Also using Jorginho, 55pace (as a cam) and he isn't the best, also feels a bit slow when you sprint with him, but he is also agile so more than usable imo but perhaps as a CM, rather than a CAM.
I did pack untradable rashford and so far, I kind of dislike his card. He is clinical infront of the goal but somehow off in the game. Perhaps the formation doesn't suit my playstyle with him, but IF Anderson on the rightflank does the job a lot better.

My fullbacks both have 80pace and it is more than enough.

This makes it a lot more fun, because you can actually use a lot of different cards and be pleased with them, even though they're not part of the META.

This was my first impression, but just like someone mentioned they need to nerf outside the box finesse shots and AI blocks…Those are a little bit unrealistic.

    Brilliant, thanks!

Got to say I haven't had that many finesse shots scored against me yet, but have scored a few. Goalkeepers definitely seem a lot better this year, but I think that's a good thing that it's harder to score! Goalkeepers have been pretty useless in previous FIFA's.

We disagree then, vehemently. But that's alright, it's subjective after all :)

Then why are so many still crying about the rivals system yourself included???

Last year really scarred you didn't it? Pretty much every thread I go into if you happen to post there 100% it will be about the same thing. Just boring pal.

I would choose nerfing the AI interceptions over the blocks and allow passes go into the general direction the user dictates.

Multiple threads crying about the same thing is what I find boring......!! Tell me how many threads I have started about this issue?? To the OPs credit he's tried on this moaning forum to be positive but guess what the first reply he gets ends with a moan about the new rivals system.

Because "discussion" is not the same as "crying."

Plus people can agree with you about self-relegators and still think that the new Rivals system isn't great. Can you not see that?

You're just taking threads off the tracks time and time again by rushing in to remind people that the playerbase "couldn't be trusted" with relegation. Over and over and over again. We get it. FFS WE AGREE WITH YOU. EVERYONE DOES.

Also, you talk about "multiple threads of people crying."

How the hell was this one of those? It was a guy saying he likes the game. And you STILL managed to turn it around to your broken record.

If you look closely the first reply to the OP was a moan( crying) about the new rivals system. Also if you read the thread I've already praised the OP.

Nice to know that you agree and understand but I'm bracing myself for a lot more self relegators starting multiple boring threads about the same issue over and over( new rivals system). I'm only trying to get the message through as to why EA had to take relegation out of the game. Not everyone on the forum seems to have caught on as quick as you have son.

Auto block simulator after patch tbh

Who would of thought scoring 30 Yarders be more effective than tap ins , 1 v 1 and shots inside the box ,

    Good job EA 👍

Same as last year just minus the skill spamming, pity they buffed AI defending and closing down which makes it feel more like playing the CPU. If they reduced the AI and pressure it would be a very good game.

I like next gen too and looks way more realistic than last gen.
    2 real problems here...
    1. 9 of 10 of opponents are park the bus autodefenders.
    2. New broken horrendous format modes.
Fix this and game is ok.

Played some games tonight and it’s definitely sped the game back up again. Defences seem to be a lot more open, and pace seems to be more effective again. Still better than last year, but definitely changed since the patch.
