(Ps5 - left analog drift)

Sorry if kinda off topic but for any ps5 player here have you experienced any left stick drift? I’ve had my console for just over two months and my controller is well and truly ❤️❤️❤️❤️. It doesn’t turn right making it impossible to use. Has anyone had a replacement? Was it through Sony or the retailer you’ve purchased your console from?

Seems the pads won't last long. I've been using my PS4 pad whenever I play PS4 games on it to try and give it a bit more life :D that and I somehow like the worn in feel of the old PS4 pad if that makes any sense?

Can I use my DualShock 4 to play fifa on the ps5? Or do I need to download the PS4 version to be able to use it?

PS4 version. I prefer that version anyway so it suits me well. Maybe a short term solution though until you get a replacement?

If you get it only on FIFA, I believe it's the latest update that turned the game into ice hockey especially if you have auto agile dribbling off.

I too thought it was my controller drifting at first anyhow you can test this out in that factory installed game (check YouTube) before shelling out 70 bucks.

Had this very issue and had to buy a new controller- certainly I think the pads are not very durable and can see plenty of replacements being required
I am heavy handed and I don’t think the lag has helped as sometimes you feel like you are driving a HGV but still think the pads are fragile

This week my left stick has just gone faulty. If I'm holding to the right to run forwards on it then it will flicker with input in the opposite direction occasionally. My attacker will be through on goal then suddenly turn backwards! I thought it was FIFA to begin but it happens in other games and on the menu.

I've only had my ps5 since March. I think the delay in FIFA doesn't help as I press all the inputs too hard trying to get a response.

i`m not sure you want to try this but my son`s nintendo switch controller had massive drift. I bought some electrical contact spray and squirted it all round the joystick, clicking it in as i did it (game pad was turned off). It dries really quickly and in 30 mins or so he was using it with no drift. I think it was just clogged up with dirt / grime off over a years worth of use.

Seen it on youtube so gave it a go and it worked
  • Thanks everyone. I’m going to try Sony support now in a few mins when lines open up. Will connect my PS4 controller for now until I get a new one.

  • Going to have to do the same, both of my sticks have gone and I'm sick of my players doing random skill moves or knocking the ball backwards.

Yesterday I had my PS4 doing the same thing. Maybe it’s a software thing.
  • I sent mine back to Sony today and I’m also getting one for free from Argos.. Not sure how this has worked out but I’ll take it lol

Nah it's a physical thing. Will happen to most controllers through wear and tear after a while it's just the ps5 ones have been poorly made and are experiencing it much quicker.

I had my Ps5 in November and the controller started right stick drifting in March. Phoned Sony and they made me send it to them and I got a replacement 3 weeks later. Now I have left stick drift with the replacement controller, phoned Sony and have to send it back for replacement.

Had mine since launch and I’m on my third controller already. One controller had drift, the other had a trigger issue where L1 would have to be jammed on in order to work. I didn’t bother with RMA yet though. Just bought another.

My PS4 controllers recently both died (many years only, can't complain), the left trigger stopped working.

Had been looking for ages during lockdown, new ones were totally out of stock everywhere (did find one at Argos... in Fort William, Scotland... No delivery) so was pleased I managed to find one as lockdown eased.

Lasted a month or so before ridiculous left stick drift. Might have been dropped, but no more than the others had been (repeatedly) so not sure if I just got unlucky.

Might see if I can send it back to Sony to fix now I've got another
