This is big news to, wonder how much smoother it will feel.
Time to buy a new monitor i guess.
I hope you're not playing on PC as we will get served the old-gen PS4/Xb1 engine (again).
confirmed?
Pretty much as they already officially stated Madden 22 will be on the old engine on PC as they don't care to port it because of the small userbase compared to the consoles (their words not mine).
Don't expect to get the new engine anytime soon on PC. Same as last time where it took years..
Doesn’t matter how EA try to dress this up you can’t make a silk purse out of a pigs ear!!!! Without a brand new engine (new updated engine doesn’t count for me) and new coding the game will follow the same trajectory as the previous FIFA’s. It’s a no from me
Am playing fifa 21 already at 4K 120 FPS on Series x
Any 4K 120fps hdmi 2.1 TV with VRR will support it
I have tested it too and during gameplay it’s runs smoothly at a constant 119/120 FPS during matches
I have 1 gigabit fibre and never suffer from lag, overall happy with my experience
Gold 1 WL and rank 1 in rivals, that’s my skill level, could maybe push for elite 3 if I spent my horde of coins, but still waiting till after summer festival players which runs right after FOF.

Fifa 21 caps FPS at 60, just because it shows it doesn’t mean it actually performs it
That’s like having a 144hz monitor and then having a game play at 200+ FPS
Doesn’t matter how much it shows because the built in software doesn’t allow the game itself to go over
Fifa 21 is capped at 60 on all consoles and pc @rezyy

Well, playing at 100+ fps on pc there does feel like there is a definite smoothness and clarity that is quite obvious once you go back to console...though how much of a placebo this is remains unknown.
I think it's 60fps in cut scenes but uncapped during gameplay.

Defo not capped on PC if you change a few settings. I used to run it at 144fps on PC but the last one I played on PC was 19.

This is very bad news because it means graphics will take a huge hit and also 1% have display that is capable of 120hz.
I guess it's a good thing for esports in general.
It's more of an investment into the future.
Almost all mid range TVs coming out nowadays have some form of support for VRR/120Hz/HDR/A-LL.
Display technology has been stagnant for a while now and microLED still has ways to go before becoming mass-available and affordable, so they (for now) have to push different technologies.
I think 4k120 is here to stay as was 720p60 and then 1080p60.
The more concerning stuff going on is that it looks like they're missing out on cross-platform play once again. It's a testiment to how bad their underlying netcode is, in all honesty.
All FIFA (and all Frostbite driven games, really) suffer from the same problem. And this won't change unless they take a fresh shot at a new engine from the ground up.

No I’m on ps5
Ea confirmed for madden 22 that PC and old gen consoles will not have a lot of the updated features
100 FPS is max smoothness
So much better for gaming
there is no "max" smoothness lol
Nice.
You won’t notice much difference beyond 100 FPS
And this
Doesn’t matter your FPS is your tick rate is so slow
Stuff won’t register.
Need 128
You know… you do bring a good point…

Anything above that will just double frames afaik.

Cutscenes are 30 FPS. Always were.

Not mine, taken from Twitter (will delete if not allowed, mods)
