Would this game be better if they removed skill moves?

Played every weekend league this Fifa but this most recent weekend every player doing bridge skill move or directional nutmeg.

Made me wonder if the game would be better if skill moves were removed?

I’m 40 and been playing football games forever.

Games I used to play never relied on skill moves. Games like the original FIFA on mega drive with Brian plank etc. Sensible soccer. ISS internationals superstar soccer. Those games were fun.

Seems like now people just out to win by trying find an exploit which unfortunately is spamming skill moves. I thought this game was meant to try an simulate real football? When do you ever see skill after skill in real life?

Thoughts?

There should be fewer skill moves, imo and using them should drain stamina, especially when chaining them. When ur stamina is low the skill moves should also be less effective.

I always imagined them as sort of a fancy thing. You only break out when really beating your opponent by a lot.

They nerfed a couple and the next one just takes its place. The commentators for the esports said something one time that made it click why offense is never manual and always easier. They said it’s best goals of the tournament or highlights not best jockey defense.

Skillmoves nowadays are just broken beyond believe. BUT, there is a reason for it and that's the AI. It's very hard to break through with just passing alone. And that's also a big issue, people can just sit back and let the AI defend while they controll their dm. They stay on a tight line. People started skilling to draw out opponents to create more room.

Bridge and nutmeg should be nerfed. Rarely used on real pitch.

    Maybe keep some then.

It’s just not realistic seeing players pull off loads of elastico or la croc.

Have a think.... how many times do you see an elastico in a real game? Maybe 1 in 10 matches if that. In Fifa you get about 10 a game.

It should be like PES. Players allocated the moves they actually do in real life and that's it. None of this star category nonsense where boys are doing la croqueta cancels (which don't exist) with Cantona (who played before the standard la croqueta was common).

Skill moves are not the problem , it's EAs brainless game producers creating unbalanced game where only a certain move works. Why are only 2 skill moves are effective when there are more than 30 kinds of skill moves are in the game so skill moves are not the problem. This are more like a glitch moves where it makes your defenders freez so there is no way of defending them. I think a lot of players would quit the game with out skill moves , they just have to find away to defend them properly and make the moves more relastic not an alien like glitch moves.

Bridge is so annoying. People spam that skillmove in hopes of bumping into tour defender and get the ball back again

I got very very good at pes. Played competitive and got ranked 12th in the uk and went to the uk final. No skill moves back then except fake shot and drag back. I even play Fifa with pes controls and D pad. Old school.

Shame pes lost its way a little bit.

No, what would make the game better is

    1. EA making standard dribbing more effective while reducing the impact body type and height have on how a player feels. No point setting yourself up for a touch with the left stick or using LT to shield and shift your weight as a player, just do a locked in animation skill move that sets you up quicker and you can pop a shot off faster.

    2. Being quicker to patch anything that becomes too OP. Skill moves get left untouched to ruin the game for months, then they bring out a patch and sweats find something new to exploit then its 3 months before thats touched. EA need to be patching anything thats creating an unbalance in gameplay ASAP.

    3. Increasing the fatigue on doing skills and flicks and adding more error after doing a couple of skills

Edit: skill moves should be a thing and be effective in some situations, especially if a defender makes a bad attempt to win the ball, but being able to animate around players then body them down is just unfair and I say that as somebody with half my team rocking 5* skills.

Skill moves are fun and should be just that fool around a bit when the job is done. The impact skill moves have in this game is just dumb. They shouldn't be effective at all unless you time it perfectly. A random FIFA game today just looks sad.

The bridge is just broken, players freeze when people do it but I read it every time but can’t tackle because of it

Same for previous Fifa's. This is the first Fifa that turned into Fifa street

I came back to play the game this month after a long break and I got done three times in one game with the bridge move so it just shows how exploiting a mechanic can work from a patch in one FIFA . We will never get a good FIFA game ever

It’s funny because Volta literally exists but they’d rather want to do it in champs

Agree with what you said, It’s so simple really Yet they won’t do it. How a game can be left unpatched for six months of a 12 month cycle is beyond me. I’m pretty sure we pay for a 12 month game.

Just had a read and completely agree dude, it’s a shame no one can rival ea.

This game had so much potential at the start and I did enjoy it until the patches came in and it’s no Fifa 20.2

Limit number skill moves per game.

Skill moves are vital when coming up against 1 depth drop back or when you’re generally struggling to break a defence down. If you can do skill moves at the right time in the right place you’ll get a few more wins each weekend.

What does my head in is the people who spam skill moves to death. Why you doing drag backs with your Centre back with nobody around him? makes no sense at all. So IMO keep skill moves but maybe restrict positions on the pitch they can be used? or something along them lines

You see any kind of skillmove maybe 2-3 times in a real 90 minutes soccer game, in fifa it´s like 30 times per game, just remove them to get closer to some kind of realism. Those who desperately need them can play Volta.

Ive scored plenty of El Tornado volleys tbf just need to be green timed, I'm glad the crosses from them aren't a thing because that was completely broken and gimmicky.

Yes skill moves in older football games did used to be exactly that. They were just for taking the fun out of your opponent and messing around. They weren't actually effective in helping you score. And that's how it should be.

I think it would be much more fun with no skill moves. Anyway, FIFA isn't fit for skill moves in its current state. The servers mean your defender often can't even tackle someone running right towards you in a straight line. If someone is spamming skill moves it's basically a cheat.

They should just add Volta to FUT and dial back the normal 11on11 to an actual football simulation..

Game would be unplayable without skill moves. Wouldn't play it.
With how dribbling is and the fact the AI in attack are often brain dead against people who know how to defend you would either have to score off a 70 metre through ball, or once the defence is set play about 50 passes side to side then a double tap pass and then a goal, would be horrible because you couldn't create space.
Skill moves like the nutmeg and bridge need nerfing but most are fine imo and adds a skill gap.
If they made dribbling super good, people would still complain. Remember someone on here calling people who dribble alot 'Pig Dribblers' a few years ago.

Buff up defenders reactions especially the one that is being controlled by the user, weaken the defenders or plays that aren’t being controlled by the user, literally forces you to player switch, I’m certain fifa 17 use to be like this before they messed it up within 3 months

And get rid of cancels shouldn’t be in the game only should be there for pass cancels and shot cancels
