Recently I'm experiencing a lot of childish behaviour. If I'm winning by a margin people used to just quit but now they're staying.

Only problem is they're no longer playing, just kind of put their controller down. Either leave or lose with dignity.
I went 4-1 up inside 20mins, he was awful in every aspect(might have been due to connection). Just stopped playing.
It's not just a 1 off, it's happening repeatedly.

Anyone else experiencing this? Is this you doing this to me?

I didn't say they should quit. I don't mind playing a full 90mins. What is unacceptable is not being able to take a loss and just putting their controller down. It's pathetic to waste someone's time because they're better than you.
If you stay for 90mins, atleast try to score or try to stop me scoring more.

if you replay watch basic goals and do silly celebrations , or pause etc then its more like to happen to you

.... the games I rubber band are when I’m playing someone who insists on full celebrations after running backwards with their CDM for the entire game, who wants to chuck a step over in before every movement, or if the game decides to throw in some of those surprise mechanics.

No issues if my opponent puts the controller down, usually means I can complete some of those long range, crosses or defender assist objectives.
  • if you replay watch basic goals and do silly celebrations , or pause etc then its more like to happen to you

I don't even celebrate. I prefer to just score, skip the theatrics and while the momentum is there to go again. Not give the opposition the chance to settle down and gain composure.
Also gets the game done faster

But as people have pointed out there doing it because it benefits them? Either by getting more rival points or by helping ELO in WL(supposably).

It’s there game and there entitled to play it how they want, it isn’t fun I agree but it isn’t going to stop as EA have made staying in games and not playing beneficial compared to quitting.

Since a person is losing 4-1 inside 20 mins even in the same division let's look at the possibilities:

    1. EA is bad: Could be huge 1 sided delay - you are asking someone to play through 70 more mins of crap like that.
    2. You are bad: You self relegated and now are playing lower skilled players
    3. You are bad: What is your celebration? Did you watch it 4 times?
    4. The opponent is bad: They do it all the time.

Since you mention, it's happening repeatedly like a humble brag post my guess is you are the child here.

Works both ways yesterday I was getting stomped 6-0 at halftime opponent was clearly a much better player than me but instead of him continuing to play his normal style or even him taking it a little easier on me he just passed the ball around his back line and keeper giving me no chance to gain possession and at least reclaim a little of my dignity.

If anyone has any tips on how I can regain possession in this situation it would be much appreciated, I tried team press and I believe RB for second man press but I could never get close to his players, yes I'm bad.

1: I mentioned it could have been a connection issue.

2: that particular match I was more clinical than I've ever been. Never self relegated. Probably don't belong in this div because I bought the game about 2 months late and was struggling against people who had been playing since the get go and were used to the gameplay. While it was still relatively new to me.

3: never have I watched a celebration on this game. As previously stated. I can't be bothered with them.

4: if they are that bad then either leave or atleast continue to try.

I'm not asking for people to leave because they don't belong on the same pitch. All I'm asking is for people to have some pride and finish the game properly. Don't feel like I'm asking much. For players to play the game to the best of their ability or leave.

Just asked why it's happening constantly. It's only been this last 2 days. Hardly a brag.

I don’t mind when people rubber band, I just practice moves and score more on them. What’s annoying is when people use all of their pauses, after they’ve stopped playing, just to waste 120 seconds of your time. That is truly pathetic.

As others have mentioned, not leaving is a benefit as they get rivals points and a ELO drop for an opponent next game.

If I am getting beat by a solid player who I can tell is a decent fella (skip celebrations, no pointless step overs in own box, no 80% possession, no pausing to force a quit) I use that game to improve and take my beating. Normally I come out of it with a sense of perspective or a new skill/pass and move combo to try.

If the opponent is not a decent fella, then I'm putting the pad down and going on my phone, grabbing a drink etc. Not worth getting stressed over.
I actually played someone who was all of the above brackets, really toxic, messaged me to quit etc . I put the pad down, he done kick ups for 20 minutes and then put his pad down... He got a time out and forfeit the game. That's a highlight of gameplay this year 😂

If they rubber band I'm filling my boots with goals just to extend their time away from the game, no loss to me either way.

What pride! A lot of people I came up against will do anything for the win or try to gain advantage against the opponents. Eg silver ball, abusing broken skill moves every 2 seconds and long through ball, long celebrations. Like other are saying, they stayed on for ELO in next game etc etc etc etc! lol

I used to do this, just put a rubberband round the controller and go on my phone for 10 mins mostly weekend league. Gave up 3 weeks ago havnt touched fifa since am div 2 gold 1 player played since 2011 on fut realised doesn't matter what players you have they will still miss 1v1s not track back etc etc so what's point in playing along with 45th and 90th min goals.

Every single pass shot tackle jockey etc fifa decides if it will be good or bad.

Corners I used to have only 1 bar why do only 1 or 2 players stay back and they aren't even defenders! Oh I know to allow the opponents a counter attack. I must have conceded more goals from my own corners than scored how is that right?

I would not quit no matter what but particularly if I need the points/goals/assists, I do not normally rubber band either (exceptions can be made).

It was mentioned before somewhere in the forum, some people "Know" when they have lag on their side and while I understand they have no control over that (theoretically speaking) they do not need to watch celebrations/pauses/replays , yes I understand you mentioned you do not do any of that.

To the OP main question, when one is either low skilled or any skill for that matter and feel hamstrung by the connection, they feel frustrated with the connection, the opponent, and themselves. Trying harder is not going to work in that situation, skill moves will not register, shot power will not be as intended, pass power/direction will not be as intended, ..etc. What do you want someone to do? rubber-banding is the least insulting thing at that moment especially when the opponent insists on taking the ball when you just stand there signalling game over without moving your player forward.

I have done rubber banding twice this year only because the opponents were persistent despite every signal that game is over and I am not attacking period, if they are happy getting free goals over someone whose players are not being controlled by himself, so be it, it is a win-win situation. I usually turn off the game after such an experience, I did not buy the game to become a punching bag while hand-tied, now where is the dignity of becoming a punching bag? :joy:
