Tips on assisting with crosses?

I was ok with this at the start of the game, but it appears to have turned into FIFA 20.

I don't ever seem to get a situation where I can cross the ball without a crowded box. And defenders always clear it.

If I do a right 1 cross it the striker seems to take a touch and the GK gets it. At least I could score those in 20.

I know it's still possible to score with headers as some seem to, but not many play that game. But it's not how I play, hence asking for advice.

I don't even need headers, just the cross assist.

I play 4-3-3(4) and use some fast wingers. Run down the wing and smash in a cross with R1 and square so the other winger, striker or cam can volley. Works best on counter attacks.

Make sure you are not trying to cross from too far out.

Get just inside the box and close to the goalline and then cross in.

Yeah, I just do a normal cross but you can also do a low driven cross.

Main thing is try not to cross from too far out. Get inside the box and time it for the player in the middle.

Rb/r1 cross into space. If defenders are already back your chances of scoring are minimal.
