Defence pushes up too far

How do I stop my defence from pushing up too far when I have possession I’m getting slaughtered on the counter attack.

My depth is 2 and using stay back while attacking, but still got countered..

Set them to stay back while attacking. Could also set it to possession. Put get in the box at 1.

I have my full defence on stay back but they just wander upfield, I really don’t want to be resorting to 1 depth but most people I encounter seem to be playing that way.

I have 4 depth and drop back, it's not a problem for me at all
