Instead of starting with a club like I normally do, I am going to pick a manager who I think has potential and play out his career. I chose Diego Martinez, 39 year old manager for Granada this is early in his managing career. Martinez has been with Granada since 2018 with a contract that goes until 2022 as of now. Martinez has led Granada to their first ever finish in a European spot in La Liga as they will be playing in the Europa qualifiers in 2020/21.

I do not know much about Granada before this last season so I am not sure how the squad will look in FIFA or what transfers will be needed. Should be a good challenge against the top La Liga sides. I'm not sure how long I will stay at each job, but I do plan on moving up to bigger clubs as Martinez's career goes on.

Getting into the group stage of Europa League is immediately the first and foremost task. You have your work cut out for you; you need to get the team rolling straight from the cuff!

Interesting idea sticking with the manager! Do you think we'll see a dip into International football at some point if all goes well? Spain are crying out for another period of success

You're right. If we miss out on the group stages, the season is going to seem like a big step backwards. It would be a shame to finally make it to Europe and then go out before group stages.

I'm not sure. I have tried International football in the past and never really got into it because the presentation has been so bland. Maybe if there are some updates this year to the mode, I might give it a shot down the line?

Yeah you're not wrong. I've done a few international CMs but I think there is more licensing this year for international management so maybe?

I'll follow regardless, I haven't done many career modes like this, where you move around, I find it hard to leave a team after I've invested into it

This looks really interesting to me. I prefer taking lesser clubs to glory rather than big clubs that already boast great talent. It will also give a realistic feel, when you move up to bigger clubs after hopefully achieving succes with Granada. Will look forward to read more.

The guy has done really well with Granada, could be a team to give all sorts of problems in the Europa League. I think it will be hard to finish as well in the league with both competitions to balance but lets see

I like you are also already thinking of moving about already, if he continues to do well you imagine a club in Germany or England would hire him sooner or later

I'm hoping if I plan on moving around after being at a team for a certain amount of time, it will keep me invested in the career mode. I find myself growing bored of using the same players, playing the same teams over and over so I restart a career. This way, once I'm bored of LaLiga, I have options to move.

I'm not even sure the transfer funds Granada will have but I'm sure it won't be a lot. Should be a challenge in the first season.

I think I would like to end in England years down the road but who knows. I'm curious to see how good a team will be once I leave them. Will the AI controlling the team make them terrible or if I added enough good players, would Granada still be a good team without me controlling them?

Definitely an interesting idea taking on a club like Granada and then moving on up the job ladder, i'm interested to see how it plays out :)

Going back a few years I did a career where I moved jobs, took the Palace job about 6 seasons in and won the premiership. Then I left them and within two seasons they were in League one :D

Squad seems to have a good mix of experience and youth, could definitely do with some more additions mind

Only recognise a handful of players, Herrera is someone that I rate especially though
Crazy to think they finished that high in La Liga, look like a team that should end lower mid table

Good to know about Herrera, I honestly only know about two of their players. I watched them a bit last year but outside of those games I do not know about them. Soldado was a flop at Spurs but loved by the fans, Kenedy I know from Chelsea and Newcastle but that was all I was really familiar with.

Right away I'm thinking the team needs a younger forward. I'll wait until I have the game to see if there is a younger forward in the squad that wasn't listed on the clubs website but a 35 and 38 year old forward are not great options.

Someone like Borja Mayoral from Real Madrid, or Toni Martinez from the Portugese League I reckon would be good realistic pick ups. Especially Mayoral, who realistically isn't going to break through at RM.

Like the idea of choosing a manager. Gives you some freedom within the story to move if you get tired of a certain team. Good luck man 😎

Yup, that's the way I do it. If you get tired of your role as 'fictional you' at a club, you fly off.

Squad Depth Chart as of Aug 1, 2020

    SnbnUFW.png

The transfer window is closed and Diego Martinez has his squad to start the 2020 season. Martinez has insisted on a small squad to make sure everyone has playing time and nobody is left frustrated. LaLiga allows 25 players but Granada will be going into the season with only 22 players in the squad.

    Players not shown above but currently in the squad;
GK - Andorinha - Only 26 years old, Granada will be looking to loan out the Portugal keeper.
CB - Bruno Morais - 22 years old looking for a loan move
CB - Pepe Sanchez - 20 years old looking for a loan move
CDM - Juan Brunet - 22 years old looking for a loan or transfer in January
CDM - Angel Montoro - The most shocking player left out of the squad. Montoro is 32 years old and not seen as part of Martinez's future team. The club will be looking to sell Montoro in January.
LM - Dani Plomer - 21 years old looking for a loan move
CM - Isi Gomiez - 24 years old with a contract expiring and not part of the future plans

Suarez should be a decent source of goals this season. Always liked Darwin Machis and Gonalons to so hopefully you can maybe get a Europa League spot

So far Suarez has been great. Machis has been good but his fitness is an issue in the early stages.

Nice start to the season there, nice to see you getting clean sheets unlike me haha. Graphics are looking spot on too. The Europa group looks fine I can see you easily getting out but PSV will be trouble for topping it I think, Barca dropped a few points already I see.
