Damn it, it looks like we won't be getting Suarez after all.
Everything's done between him and Juve, just a few things to sort out with Barca.
But there's a massive, massive problem.
He needs an Italian passport to get around the non-EU player limit.
And knowing Italian bureaucracy, he can forget about getting it before the end of the transfer window. :joy:

Boniperti with an assist that wouldn't look at all out of place in modern football...

And this is the late 50s we are talking about. :D

His wife has an Italian passport, he just needs to pass an exam tomorrow.

And you really think they'll give him the passport immediately after the exam?
    Suuuuuuurrrrrrrrre...
Meanwhile, it seems the three-year 10 million-a-season contract is confirmed and the only footballing-related hiccup remaining is whether to pay Barca something or not.
I still fail to be excited.

There’s five more weeks until the deadline, even in Italy that’s enough time.

Today Ilicic joins his Atalanta teammates at their training centre.
According to the Slovenian FA's president, Ilicic was severely affected by what was happening in Italy and in Bergamo due to the coronavirus, and he's seeking help from professionals.

Zaniolo could have done his ACL again.
Right foot caught on the grass, like in his first injury.
Could walk off this time, but so did Demiral in that Roma match, so it doesn't mean anything, unfortunately.
Hopefully it was just a bad scare, hate to see another young talent ruined by injuries.

Are there any news of Nainggolan to Galatasaray in Italy?

Nothing, only the report from Turkey. It seems unlikely after he moved back to Cagliari due to his wife’s illness, he’s training with Inter now and there’s talk of Cagliari keeping him permanently in a trade that involves Meret.

Locatelli has the quality to start for every team in Italy, doesn’t he? His development is impressive.

Okay thanks. Good to know. So usual yearly Nainggolan bs from turkish media lol
  • Locatelli looked pretty good today. Maybe it wouldn't be a terrible idea to get him

Some of his advanced stats for this season are off the charts, if you’re into that.

Apart from a couple of dodgy passes at the start, Chiellini looked his usual old self, at least, and he didn't get injured.
Unfortunately the same can't be said for Zaniolo...

If it's that, it's on the other knee this time.
Hopefully it's not that and instead it's something less serious.
Because having both ACLs gone at such a young age spells trouble for the rest of your career...

I think it’s quite common to hurt your other knee after an ACL injury, hopefully it’s not it.

That's almost exactly like his first injury, but on the other knee.
Planting his foot on the grass.
Jesus Christ, his ligaments are truly made of glass...

Confirmed, ACL tear in Zaniolo's left knee.
Rupturing both your ACLs in the same year in the same manner is simply brutal.

He's still young. Hopefully he comes back as strong as he did this year.

He's still young. Hopefully he comes back as strong as he did this year.

He'll need massive mental strength to overcome this and continue playing as he did before.
Both times he injured himself simply by planting his foot on the ground. Not a collision, not getting caught on the grass and visibly twisting his knee, not an awkward slide... something as perfectly normal and routine as putting your foot on the grass.
It could happen again at any time, that's the really worrying bit for him...
We can only hope his reconstructed ACLs are stronger than the originals. :D

I remember when Ale Faurlin did his three times in as many years. To his credit he returned following the third but he was never the same player.

Young at 35, Kolarov at 34, Biraghi at 28, damn that LB spot at Inter is looking fresh.

I still think we’ll bring in a new LWB.
Biraghi’s back at Fiorentina and Dalbert is back at Inter but said to be sold to Sassuolo.
Kolarov can also play LCB in the back 3.

And speaking of left backs, the Reguilon to Napoli deal is stuck because Real Madrid are insisting on a buy back clause.
