Going on 4 months without playing. Premier league came back with a welcome bang this past week. Made me realize I miss fifa too but no way im playing this broken game.

Does anyone hold out hope for fifa 21? I honestly may not buy it just not to be disappointed again. Its so embarrassing, i cant believe that there isnt a fun Football video game. Its wild right? Like billions of global fans and there isnt a good video game? Crazy.

Football manager is fun. You'll never ever want to touch FIFA again, I haven't.

Honestly speaking, I miss football too, much, much more so than FIFA. I didn't play much FIFA last 4 months. I mostly play online chess now. If you don't play FIFA for a while, your brain gets accustomed to the new stereotype and you no longer crave it.

It is similar like junk food. I gave it up 8 years ago to never buy crisps and I stuck to it as it was my weakest point leading to an uncontrollable addiction that even led to modest weight gain. The brain slowly gave it up when I stopped buying them and the natural craving also stopped, but took a good couple of months of willpower. My weight dropped and I never regained again as I never had a desire to overeat anything else.

FIFA and Football is similar in a way as it works on our pleasure centers of our brains (dopamine)! If you start with one hobby, you get easily glued to it and forget about the other hobbies.

I will watch videos and read reviews for FIFA 21 and play the demo and decide for myself if it will be worth it. Obviously due to the Coronavirus, I don't have much confidence in EA focusing their development on the game.

I don't think EA will have invested enough time and energy improving FIFA 21 this year due to the corona crisis as the development team may have been stuck at home away from the studios. But let's see, I hope I am wrong and EA really did silently improve the game over all this time. If I am not happy, who is to force me to buy it? I didn't buy FIFA 18, 19 and 20 and stuck with FIFA 17 these past few years! And I pretty much got adapted to the point where for me it is 50/50, If I didn't play it, I won't feel deprived.

Based on the messaging and marketing around the launch i think youre right. The Initial marketing focus was on things that are not currently wrong with the game - the issue with it is that these issues and criticisms have been around for years and have been exacerbated year to year. So part of me thinks EAs inaction and inability to read the room is more the culprit for another crap product - more than coronavirus, which i admit is slightly unfair, but, there was no signal that a massive investment was being made prior prior to covid to turn around this mess either. Nor was there even acknowledgment at how poor the game was.

In a year where we are all stuck inside, EA should be making a fortune, instead its just highlighting the firms public relations, customer experience strategy and product development issues.

Is there any chance fifa 21 isnt awful?

Yeah this was pre covid. Theyll be lucky to slap a new cover photo on 20. As long as they say “hey this is going to be really bad” and dont false promise / under deliver i will buy it.

If there is radical over emphasis on graphics improvements and new made up mechanics “transforming the gameplay” that no onr asked for from the paid reviewers and no mention of career mode or broken physics im not buying it.

So many people trying to convince us and themselves rhat they arent playing Fifa anymore.

Do you know what I do when I dont like or play a game anymore. I stop playing it and I DEFINITELY DO NOT go the game forum to tell people that :)

Just keep enoying the game lads and the inevitable ups and downs. It will be the same next year. I can assure you EA are not listening or care about your threats as they bank the next million dollars.

You'll need to help me understand how visiting a forum for a game you dont play (cough) helps the next Fifa improve exactly? No, seriously.

    You will buy fifa 21.

All these idle threats are just that. The thing with idle threats is that the person threatening to not buy fifa has no proof of the act. You could be playing fifa every night and just moaning here. All under the cover of anonymity.

The fact you are on here is telling more than anything you can say. Admit it.

We all know it. Even the other people who say the same as you know it.

    Buddy checking. Riiiiight.

Just play and enjoy the game as best you can mate. Theres no shame in it.

Feedback is essential to drive change.

And no dude - sorry, im not buying fifa 21. And the reason why isnt complicated - the game isnt fun. Its been easy to quit this game. But I do miss what the game was.

@Bonusb3rtie It is jumping into conclusions when you say "You will buy FIFA 21"! Depends who you are aiming that to.

Now I know most of the times we won't announce that we won't buy the game. If people like me came to the forum just to say "I won't buy it", doesn't mean we are just saying it for attention seeking or frustration.

If you want evidence, just check my Origin profile, I haven't got FIFA 18, 19 and 20 in my Origin library, besides the demos. Isn't that not enough evidence for you?

Coming on the forum requires information being passed on to EA and the community. It helps somewhat force EA to try and improve the game. I may be passionate about FIFA, but if the game isn't good or up to scratch, I'll skip it. I used to have in the old EA Community forums over 11K posts. Ever since old forums shut some years ago I lost my enthusiasm to post, regardless how passionate I may be for the game.

Most of the time I admit it is a waste of time and unproductive to come and discuss about FIFA on a regular basis. But still on some occasions our voices need to be heard. Because if we all disappeared, people will be under the impression that we are enjoying the game that's why we aren't here. While that may be true for certain individuals, it doesn't apply for most audiences.

Thank you for your reasoned post and I apologise becuase my post is aimed at the people who come on here slating the game and slating the company, whilst threatening to not buy the game as some sort of punishment being doled out by them. This is pointless. When you drop your manners and vent like a child you lose ALL credibility and your post cannot be taken reasonably.

    Look at the OPs statement:

"As long as they say “hey this is going to be really bad” and dont false promise / under deliver i will buy it."

    Absolutely ridiculous.

The OP lists how HE wants the game to be marketed, even chiding EA for "not acknowledging how poor the game is"

This mechanism where someone actively not only DEMANDS they game they want, but how it is created and marketed, is typical of a generation blinded by their own entitlement.

Fifa 21 comes out. It will look different at launch compared to 2 months of patching. You will buy it or you won't. Dont put a metaphorical gun to their heads and think it matters a jot. Its tiring.

If you don't buy the game it will be reflected in the sales. So don't buy the game. You cannot do ANY more to hit EA where it hurts. All this false veiled posturing and threats are nonsensical.

YOU are requesting transparency from EA?

Just read that back for a second 😆😆😆

Let us know how you get on with this request mate. Best of luck.

Thank god you are around to shape the direction of this game. A game that you are not buying of course.

    Rivetting stuff.
