4-4-2 formation assistance

Any 4-4-2 users out there? I can't seem to get my lm and rm involved enough. Sure, I can go down the line with them in order to progress the ball down the field, but in the final third they seem to disappear. They always get stuck too far out wide, even if I try and make my offense more narrow.

Any suggestions for how to get them involved more? I'm wondering if you guys use any special instructions (e.g., come short, etc.). Thanks!

Try "free roam" if you want them to really get into the box. Other wise leave it on balanced and set crossing to "get inside the box for cross" or whatever it's called.

If you have a left footer like Salah on the right, you can try "Cut inside". That works too.

Thank you! That's all very helpful. I have tried cut inside before but haven't tried free roam or the get inside the box one yet. I'll definitely give them a go tonight.

Thanks! do you use that formation too? I mainly see 4231 users this year (which honestly doesn't bother me), but I'm a huge fan of the 4-4-2. I've always preferred two strikers formations, and this provides some nice width too.
