And it is utterly mind numbing. You can already tell how every game is going to go.
1 depth, players controlling only their CDM in an attempt to block off all passing lanes then hit on the counter with a choice of pace merchants.
If you defend the counter you get hit with 40 drag backs and players with their backs to goal.
I was div 4 before Christmas and now find myself yoyoing between 6 and 7. I lose 75 percent of my games in div 6, get relegated but then move back up almost straight away.
I've been in this position for about a month now and it's so boring. I'm just not good enough to beat players who play at 1 depth etc etc.
Any tips on how to improve?

winning at all costs - is an absolutely pathetic mindset
imagine playing fifa with a friend of yours and playing like this like shushing him after you score or waste the time at 1-0
I know mate, ridiculous. I like trying different players, different styles of play etc but if it doesn't fit the meta you have a horrible time
I do like a making people watch their Ben yedder smash it wide if they've been a ball rolling ❤️❤️❤️❤️ tbh
EA have 100% set this entire franchise up as a goldmine and there is nothing we can do about it and we have to accept that. They have absolutely no interest in the gameplay and their customer base, only their bank details. It’s sad, but true.
I was excited for Fifa 20 because of how utterly dreadful Fifa 19 was. I was of the opinion there is no chance in hell a company could make a football game worse than FIFA 19 but hats off to EA Sports, somehow they managed to make the most boring football game in history. Their own pros even hate the game.
It’s a shame because we have a large community of people who would happily put their hand in their pocket if there was a fantastic game in front of us. However EA just see the cash flow and the rest is irrelevant.
The majority of players don't play drop back 1 depth but if you are on balanced on something like 4 or 5 depth then at times you will get pinned into your box as your opponent passes it around looking for his striker.
The game doesn't reward a diversity of styles. You can't even cross properly unless it's along the ground to the back post.
Most trusted way to score is pass around the box until your striker gets free, pass to him, get space for near post finish, rinse and repeat.
This is accurate....especially the part about the game not rewarding a diversity of styles. If the game was actually good, there wouldn’t be a “meta” which is such an annoying term anyway. The best players would have a variety of players, formations, etc. the game is lazy coded and one dimensional.
I had a guy with full META team last WL. first half ended with 64%possession for him and 0 shots. literally just passing it around.
second half 1 shot with 60% possession. won the game 2-0 but it was one of the worst matches I played in FIFA 20.
Possession play sucks as drop back if you don't know what you are doing and just passing it around thinking you are Guardiola or something.

Bang on with this, it seems such hard work to play any way other than ping the ball around until you can pass it into one of your strikers in the box.
They made a complete mess of nerfing arial threats after how easy it was in 19, now it’s nigh on impossible. Corners and indirect free kicks are generally a waste of time especially if the opposition moves their keeper!
I can’t remember when I last saw someone using Harry Kane, one of the worlds top strikers. Purely because he doesn’t fit the “meta”, the fact there’s such a thing is just p!ss poor on EA’s part.
Omg its seriously embarrassing how can they have fun doing it for 500 games like that ?
