Are TOTY lazy and/or playing under their stats?
So I tried most of the non-defenders TOTY now.
I really feel like some of them don't play like they should stats-wise, and that some of them just feel lazy.
Some reviews.
TOTY Kante.
Played 6 games.
Insane on the ball, he's really fabulous. Quick, agile, superb ball control and turning, a joy to play with. That said, he was actually lazy and not replacing where a CDM should be. Play 41212-2 and he was on stay back instruction, as is always my sole CDM as both my CM are on balanced.
He was hardly ever well positioned. Too far on the pitch, and more importantly dont seem to make the effort of coming back if i dont do it manually with him.
Left huge holes in my back line as I had almost no one between my attackers and defenders. Felt kind of naked with him instead of my SBC Tonali who is always perfectly positioned. I also feel like NIF Kante did not have this problem. NEither did, in my memory, Kante's TOTY last year, which I tried extensively. Feels even better on the ball this year though.
Had to sell him because of the holes he left. 7/10.
TOTY Mbappé
Played 20 games.
Plays great, obviously. Was playing him in the worst possible gameplay so sadly I could not notice his pace upgrade, litterally. He's stronger and finishing better, and has finally some decent passing, which is awful in his NIF card. I always have the problem with him that his 4* WF seems closer to 3* than to 5. Can't finish really consistently with the left. Still a joy to play with, and a shame I had him in bad gameplay. Sold him to get CR7.
Was not overly impressed and did not see that huge a difference compared to his regular cards, given the difference in price. Amazing player albeit overpriced. 8/10
TOTY De Brunye
Played 7 games.
FRAUD !! So I have played extensively with KDB 94, 125 games. I always liked him as a CM despite his flaws, as i found him to be one of the best offensive CM of the game. His main flaws for me were that he feels heavy, and his animations are slow. He takes ages to shoot. He so often shoots on the keeper, his finishing seems so below his stat. Finally, defensively, which is still very important for a CM, he often feels like a pu$$y in duels. Rarely wins the ball back because he's slow and heavy. still speaking about the 94 here, and as for his qualities I loved his presence, his positioning and his passing was insane. Nice 4-5* combo as well.
Well I did not feel any upgrade with his TOTY. Don't know if I had a broken card but I tried him during decent gameplay in 7 games, 5 of which I won. He was invisible, walking on the pitch so many times I could not believe he was actually walking while I was developping my attacks. The few times he was in a good shooting position, he sent it over the goal. Several times in a row. Ended up with 1 assist and 0 goal in 7 games. He was awful and still felt a bit heavy like his other cards. Defensively, despite a shadow, he does not play up to his stats for me. Really not. 4/10
TOTY De Jong
Played 50 games.
Love him. Sold him after 35 games to try KDB, had to insta buy him back after 7 games.
As often with my players, he faded a bit after say 25 games (^^) and I struggle a bit more now than before to involve him offensively as a CM. Still, when he gets an opportunity, his shooting and finishing are great. Feels great on the ball, and, unlike KDB he actually wins the ball back most of the time. Feels very solid. Great passing too. I feel like he's close to playing to his stats. 8.5/10

TOTY Ronaldo
Played 30 games.
Insane. Really. Feels so much better than Mbappé to me. I'll admit I loved his NIF, played 500 games with him next to base Eusebio. You feel quickly the difference with his other card. He's much stronger, feels much quickewr too, especially the very first acceleration. He finishes everything. the finishing of his gold is already insane but he's in another league. Scores from outside the box for fun, both finess and power shots. As with his NIF and contrary to Mbappe, his 4* WF seems closer to 5* than to 3. Scored a lot with his left foot, power shots too.
Playing him with engine and his passing is fabulous, which is so helpful when you play with two strikers. While I obviously still cherish my base Eusebio, he was completely outshinde the last 30 games.
he scored and assisted 55 goals in 29 rivals games (38 + 17).
Played extensively with his TOTY last year, prefer this year's one. Plays fabulous and is so smooth. 5* skills is a joy too. Got to give him a 10/10, although he's obviously too expensive.
Have not played with TOTY Mane but have heard many times that he was not playing as his stats would suggest.
Conclusion, right now there is only De Jong and CR7 in my team, and I don't plan on bringing another one just yet.
Would love to hear other reviews, post them here. Would really like to know like you guys feel some of these toty's stats seem inflated and not showing in game.

I have TOTY De Ligt and he's by far the best CB I've used, even pink boots doesn't come close.
Have not tried Messi though, he looks insane.
@Eazyyy He's absolutely insane. Really is. The very first minutes, you don't really realize what you got in your hands, but he somehow always find a way, gliding between defenders like a Cruyff or Best would, but with a finishing that is above every one else. His weak foot is superb as well. He also scores both finess and power shots to the point that I now often don't know which shot to chose as both are so insane.
I think it is the usual problem making your CAM playing as a RM or a CM.
I always have my CAM on stay forward anyway, and have hence never had this problem, i think it counters it - although I always played like that irrespective of the formation glitch so can't really compare. I really felt Kante was still my CDM as there was no one behind him. Just lazy to go back to his regular position despite being on stay back. Its a shame because he's so so good on the ball. But I feel so much more solid behind with SBC Tonali or Vieira than with Kante.
Had TOTY Mbappe and just was not doing it for me, By the way there is a massive difference in strength and stamina from the TOTGS.
Because of his insane stamina i would normally score towards the end of the game as no tired defender can keep up with him.
Kante insane, de Bruyne insane and Mbappe is equal ronaldo but preferred for me easier to link
Seems a bit suspicious that Messi would make you a Elite 3 player if you was a G2/3 and making silver 1 last week.
Yeah, heard many people say that especially about Mane. For me KDB was definitely the case as well. And felt like what you said about Mbappe.
You could get 91 Eusebio and TOTGS Mbappe for the price of his TOTY, That seems more worth it IMO.
Mane a beast for me too and his got as much or more stats than Toty CR7 and Mbappe. They may be another level but mane good value for money
When I say WOW like remember Mbappe last year he was broken wow that is what I mean, they all feel a little bit sharper and stuff but nothing insane.
Even CR7 used the loan but I have the NIF for over 300 games only difference for me was slightly quicker, passing is much better and then the first touch probably the biggest thing as he can sometimes can the ball stolen due to his first touch being a little heavy however his improvement was not 5.5m better no way.
