What is the point of these players? What was EA's goal when adding them to the game?
My best guess is that they wanted to give casual players, who don't make a bunch of coins trading, the opportunity to earn some decent cards from various leagues who play above their stats.
But if that's the case, why wouldn't they just release all of them at the beginning of the game?
I decided I wanted to go ahead and knock these out after selling my team for TOTY. I realized very quickly that my best bet was to just div down in rivals and beat up on weak players to the tune of 8 goals with 8 different players per game. But that's not fun for those players. I'm sure all the people I handed 1-0 victories after scoring an own goal were happy (one guy literally sent me a message that just said "I love you."), but EA probably doesn't want people to div down either. It just seems like the staggered release pushes multiple negative behaviors.
If they had released all of them at the beginning of the game, I would have a lot of them done as I built up to my current team. Scored a ton of goals early on with Rodrigo, Morales, Griezman, Suarez, Modric, etc. Those would have all been done. So then, when I finally decided to get the free player, I would have been staring at 5-8 team objectives, rather than 20. That feels more doable and not worth the time to div down. I would have played my games in rivals in my normal division, and all would be hunky dory.
Sorry for the rambling - I thought a lot about this last night. I guess that's what happens when you're up until 2 am doing mindless objectives.
What are everyone else's thoughts?

Politano you can do in four games if you match the right people, four games, that isn't a 'milestone'
Politano is a nice card, Trossard is alright but Gomez is terrible.
Like every other bit of content on this game, it starts well and it progressively gets worse
I disagree. They are handy for objectives that require first owned players, like Icon Swaps. Also, I've only used Trossard a few times, but he feels phenomenal. Haven't tried Gomez yet, and haven't done Politano yet. He's on the schedule for today.
Trossard is fantastic!
I like the idea of a better card with more of a grind. Why not have both? A mid level card that's good for most casual players (i.e. Trossard, Politano, etc.), and then a high level card that fits into a lot of top teams but requires more work to attain.
Seems like a solid idea.
When are we expecting the next batch? Right after the futmas batch ends?
He's insanely good
I never out hunter cards in my players but it's the best decision I've made so far this year
Is it me or does he feel like his strength is insane? He had held off Van Dijk and Pique lol at times.
Also their completely vague message about 'keep this player for the possibility to upgrade him' message. What does that actually mean? Is there a possibility they won't get upgraded? When and how and how often will we get the chance to upgrade them? Are they OTW/RTTF styled upgradeable cards? At least with OTW/RTTF cards you know how the upgrade works if they do earn an upgrade.
Need to finish that guy
Let me guess, Southampton, Burnley and Villa left?
Or, y'know, I could not spend the "pennies" it would cost to buy that player, make circa 24k in match coins, get 20 packs containing 40 players (35 or so guaranteed rare gold) back along the way, get ranking points that'll give me a bunch of packs and coins on a Thursday, and get cards back that are very usable now and which will upgrade at some point in the future.
But yeah, I see your argument.
Brighton instead of Villa
Use normal Trossard, he was still good for me lol.
Thanks 😂
I’ll give it a go using Maupay at the min and he’s terrible
Done in 4 games......okay boss
After that is a huge meh. Shoji looks phenomenal, but he is really difficult to link if you are not using Ligue 1 players.
Basically:
Ferdinand (LCB) - Shoji (RCB) - Atal (RB, Futmas)
Mbappe (CDM)
And then Neymar CAM to get a strong link with Kylian 🤷🏼♀️
