Got to be honest, over the last week, I had been enjoying the game. Once Friday came with it's disgusting promo and packs, I had pretty much rinsed my club on the TOTW upgrade and now I am feeling quite bitter because I kept getting the same player

I'd argue the opposite for me. I was packing good stuff left, right and centre... Then I bought FPs on Friday (promised myself only BF I would buy any this year), and since I have packed dog ❤️❤️❤️❤️
