Rivals is just painful to play. With every win you get the games are getting more toxic. Every rivals game is as sweaty as your last game in Fut Champions. This game needs casual game modes and please dont mention those online friendlies. Give us cups during the week or something.

What makes tournaments better?
Out of interest why are objectives not in friendlies as this is a casual mode as opposed to the competitive rivals mode which leads to people dropping divisions to complete them and completely breaking the point of the game mode?
What makes Rivals the better option?
This! Damn EA
Because if they was in friendlies then the vast majority of this community would just message the other player to let them score and do the challenge as easily as possible. In rivals although you’ll come across some players that will allow you to score loads of goals for challenge a lot of players you meet won’t and that’s how it should be.
The objectives should be challenging and the only way to keep them challenging is by keeping them on rivals.
The politano season objective player for example would be completed in 6 games in friendlies as everyone would just be gifted goals. What’s the point in them releasing a player for objectives if the community would just exploit it to get the players as easily as possible. Where the grind/challenge in that?
@EA_Andy
Tournaments had restrictions on the teams you could use (e.g. 11 silvers, max rating, nationality/leagues etc). For objectives which require you to use teams with similar restrictions but in the main competitive game mode against people who are using their main squad. This results in...
1) higher division players self-relegating to make the objectives easier, thus distorting match making
2) genuinely getting relegated because you're using a terrible team against other more competitive ones
3) people colluding to complete the objectives
Having tournaments with restricted entry criteria is an effective balance between competitive games (as there are additional rewards for being successful in a tournament) without distorting the main competitive rivals mode. You're always playing against people with comparable teams. Friendlies, whilst probably more casual, are far less engaging
Just to add actually, Gran Turismo Sport is a good example of where this sort of stuff has worked well. Each day there are (or were, not sure if it's still the same, haven't played in a while) three different races with specific limits on the cars which can be used. It's balanced because you haven't got a Ferrari (Messi) coming up against a Fiat (random silver player). It's engaging because it's regular content with rewards which allow you to build towards the car you want. And it doesn't interfere with the ultra-competitive modes. Tie something like that into the objectives in FUT and it would be much better
Make players use the other cards instead of gold teams all the time , even have national silver and bronze cups to go with certain leagues.
Maybe the transfer market will come to life for those players who are not gold.
Thanks for listening !
Why should it matter to EA if the friendlies scenario you mentioned happens? People are still playing the game which is what they want. If you want to grind play rivals or fut champs...not everything has to be a grind does it?
And let’s be honest the objectives aren’t challenging. Score a goal with x player in rivals...is not a challenge. It is designed to get people playing the game modes which is why some objectives take place in friendlies. If you can do some then you can do all.
The problem hosting challenges in rivals such as players relegating themselves or how toxic and sweaty it gets is far greater that people messaging each other for wins.
