Apparently we’re ready to compete with Bayern for CHO.

    Daily Mail for you.

It’s not just them. After the cup match against Chelsea a lot of journalists were making a point of how OGS went straight over to CHO at full time to shake his hand.

Personally given OGS wants to bring back the core United values then I’m expecting young British players to get more chances so Sancho or CHO will probably sign in the summer.

I’ve not heard much about Lukaku lately, do people think he’ll stay or go? If he does go then I wonder if OGS could sign a replacement who is a similar sort of player as he used to be. Not sure who fits that mould these days though.

Problem with Lukaku (unlike Pogba) is the price we paid, Woodward, the board etc will want a decent return for their investment, Pogba will command a fee larger than what we paid, Lukaku won't & unless someone like PSG came in for him, the teams that'd be interested in him wouldn't be able to justify throwing 70+million at a striker who although he's class on his day, won't take them to a new level as he's just not consistent enough.

Overall unless a shock bi comes in from a team with a load of cash I can't see Rom going, purely as the big teams have their big strikers already & for the fee Rom would need to buy him off us, he couldn't be a bench player.

PSG do have a striker, but an aging one. Likewise with Barça and Real.

Could see Lukaku be a good striker in Madrid. Probably PSG aswell.

Cavani sure, but then Mbappe? Mbappe will most likely be put into that central role & they'll buy a RW'er unless they're trying to keep up to their trend of having a big frontman.

Barca have Suarez, but lukaku doesn't fit into their system at all, he's a goalscorer, not much else (though he can put in a decent cross... just not to himself).

Madrid have Benzema, but will be going all out this summer, so if they're going for him it'll be this window as i expect them to spend a good 200-300m with 1 or 2 big buys.

Yeah no way Lukaku fits Barcelona's play style, he's good at what he does but he's nowhere near good enough on the ball for them. Don't see him leaving us personally, if he's fine with being on the bench don't have an issue with him staying at all. He's a good backup option to have as he has different strengths to Rashford

Issue being he doesn't really have a choice, if he's not performcin gbetter than whoever else we put at striker (Rashford atm), then he'll have to accept the bench, he knew when he came for his fee that unless a Madrid, Barca, PSG etc came in, that if he didnt perform he wouldnt; be playing or be going elsewhere.

The fee we paid hinders us in offloading him if we need/want to, but putting a player we bought for that mcuh on the bench is only softened by the fact it's Rashford taking his place, otherwise we'd all be like why did we sanction this move if we weren't going to play to Lukaku's strengths & secondly, end up benching him.

If Andy Tate had got his way then Lukaku would already be used to a Barca style of play.

If you watch Wales atm I 100% believe Giggseh didn't want us to play the Barca way

    True.

Think atm this is the best he's going to get untill he ups his game or finds his confidence.

no smaller club has the funds to buy him & no bigger club wants a player who's hot & cold.

Edit; Just to clarify, i'm not fussed if we sell him, I like him as a person & player, works for the team, but for his role/what we bought him for there are better. We've kept/held onto players for the like factor for too long, better to get players we want playing for us in this rebuild/next few windows.

Lukaku would be one of the best back up strikers there is, just don't think he will accept that.

Been quiet in here, is everyone loving the amount of United players getting game time for England?

Loving it  They need the rest before our next PL game. You a fan of the one Liverpool player getting game time that virtually no England fan wants near the starting XI bar Southgate? ;)

Loving it personally fingers crossed he’s too tired to play for us when the international break is over😂🤞

Is this actually classed as banter!? :joy: why would we care about this!? Much rather have the players resting up, it’s the worst international break of them all.

Yeah that's what I was about to say as well. It's not hard to imagine why there's an actual negotiation going on rather than giving him what he want's. Personally I'd like to get away from just bowing to a players requests, outside of guys like DDG who are world class. That's how we end up with the ridiculous wages of Phil Jones, Ashley Young, etc.

If he goes, just ensure we replace him.

Herrera shouldnt leave but if he does fair play to him, Woodward and whoever else does the wages has no clue over it. Holding out on dave? Increase herrera a little more without being stupid... giving phil jones a better contract etc... untill we have a DOF who actually knows what hes doing Woodward will keep his uneducated football brain pulling us down.

As for Pogba, anything he says will be used against him in evidence in a newspaper, he could say hello to someone in a language and itd mean he’s secretly been learning that language in prep for a 150m pound move to somewhere 😂 lets all calm down for now.

Imagine if we lose Herrera and Dave because of wages but Philly Jones gets a yummy contract.
