As if Atletico just did a massive favour to Real...

Could have just fixed the game for a Griezmann-Morata swap, each bought for €69m

it's like the people in this thread have no idea just how badly the Barca board have ❤️❤️❤️❤️ up since Bartomeu took over and he is wasting this team away in Messi's final years

people trying to compare this to CR7 at Real Madrid, when Perez atleast had half a brain cell in how to build a team
"Summer 2014 was the last time that Barca’s first XI was seriously strengthened. In that window €165 million was spent and top-quality arrivals Luis Suarez, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ivan Rakitic settled in quickly, and improved key areas of the team.

Since then Barca have spent more than €800 million on new players, without even one of them establishing themselves as a senior team leader. The current team’s key figures were all already at the club when they won that treble in 2015 but that outfield spine of Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Lionel Messi and Suarez are all into their 30s now.

In summer 2016 they spent €125 million on Andre Gomes, Paco Alcacer, Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne, Jasper Cillessen and Denis Suarez.

Twelve months later Neymar pushed through his exit to Paris Saint-Germain for €222 million. Barca’s spend following that was €375 million on Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho, Paulinho, Nelson Semedo, Yerry Mina, Gerard Deulofeu and Marlon.

The 2018-19 season involved €129 million being spent on new players — including Malcom, Clement Lenglet, Arthur, Arturo Vidal and Jeison Murillo (on loan with an option to buy).

This season there has been €273 million invested — on Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie de Jong, Martin Braithwaite, Neto, Junior Firpo, Emerson and Marc Cucurella.

So much money has been spent, but not even one of these 30+ new signings has been a complete success. It all points to deep structural problems at the club, and continuing mismanagement by the current board."

Not all have been bad signings, but it's like looking for specks of gold in a landfill

But no, it's all Messi's fault apparently. it's Messi's fault the board bought Griezmann when every man and his dog knew he wouldn't fit Barcelona's system as he isn't versatile enough to play out wide effectively. It's Messi's fault that Suarez is declining, Dembele is always injured. It's Messi's fault no one wants Coutinho. It's Messi's fault the board traded away Arthur for Pjanic just to balance the books so Bartomeu can save his ❤️❤️❤️❤️. Messi's fault De Jong isn't playing in his natural position because of Busquets

This feels alot like the late 90's/early 2000's Barca

Ah right so we can’t criticise Messi as well as the board?

I think most people can agree that the board is at fault for the squads failings but we are talking about an individual having too much control and having this image that he’s the greatest team mate to have when really that’s false.

I think a lot of people are blinded by Messi’s ability. This was my point of the way people think of Messi compared to the way people think of Ronaldo.

Who's saying it's all Messis fault? You're overreacting. Of course the board have messed the club up, that has nothing to do with Messi.

Besides, this isnt a recent trait for Messi. Ibra, Sanchez etc.
  • decent bit of business from City to ship out Sane with 1 year left on his contract for close to 50 mil after bonuses and a 10% sell-on fee still.

hope his knee doesn't give him more problems down the line, fantastic player to watch when on fire. altho nobody will really care what he does at Bayern winning the Bundesliga for 13th time in a row and the odd CL final run every 5 years.

the previous page has multiple people pretty much insinuating it's Messi's fault and he "has too much power"

And what does Ibra have anything to do with it? Zlatan literally says it was Pep that he had a problem with, not Messi. He said Pep valued Messi more than himself. Ibra was always a terrible transfer for Barca and Pep's system, hence why when Pep moved Messi into the middle at the expense of Ibra the season after he went and scored 53 goals

Zlatan got the hump with Pep, not Messi. And he's quoted on that

and funny you bring up Zlatan, the same man with an ego larger than the worlds ocean mass

Can't see Madrid dropping enough points to lose La Liga

No way they don’t win the title now. They came back on fire, and have great talent in every position.

Even though Barca dropped points, it’s great to see Puig is slowly cementing his spot in the starting 11.

GOAT Messi is clearly a ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and vindictive bloke, cross him at all and you're dead to him.

Change room politics have been an issue with Barca for a while, bunch of high school girls.

Messi's ego is inflating to Ronaldo levels and it's having a terrible effect on his teammates.
He's forgetting all the teachings of La Masia in regards to team spirit and togetherness.
Only way to counteract that is to bring in a strong manager who has achieved roughly the same amount as Messi so that he will listen to him and, moreover, is at risk of being benched if he doesn't behave, which is needed in order to resize his ego. A bonus would be someone who went through La Masia.
Enter Xavi as manager, maybe Puyol as sporting director as backup.
If Messi keeps ignoring certain teammates and Barca aren't winning, Xavi would have the right to bench him without too much furore, given their relationship.

Yep, was always gonna take a very long time after Wenger left. Gazidis left us in a mess. We stopped ourselves from getting 60m for Alexis and then swapped him with Mikky and put Ozil on 350k a week lmao.

Last summer was a good start. Right winger, left back, CB (Saliba) and one of the best young talents out there in Martinelli. This summer is now where we need Partey another CB and possibly a winger/Striker. We are linked with Depay.

Sky Sports (and seemingly the PL too) is also distancing itself from BLM following its recent claims about Israel. The move was advocated for by Patrice Evra and supported by Gary Neville and Jamie Redknapp, who were all on commentary last night.
