Taking off in 15 minutes and then spending two weeks quarantined in a resort. Not bad.

NBCSN is showing 30 minute version of Liverpool vs Arsenal from 2016 opening weekend.

    I'll take it

If only he hadn't got injured against Portugal...

Aye Euro 2004 was the best we got to see in an England shirt sadly. Reckon we'd have gone close to winning it if he wasn't injured.

    The team was
    James
    Neville terry Campbell Cole
    Becks Gerrard Lampard Scholes
    Owen Rooney

Scholes should never have been played out wide looking back. Was a quality team though at that time.

He interchanged with Gerrard through out the game.
What was shocking was how much Scholes Gerrard and Lampard lost the ball, surprising.

If we beat Portugal I think we'd a won it. Argue the same in 2002 vs. Brazil tbh.

Like many a mercurial talent, unfortunately had his quality coached out of him
Tell them not to shoot from 30 yards because it’s a waste of possession, but a few special talents like Rooney could score close to double figures in just screamers each year
Watching his highlights of when he was young, and seeing how he had been changed by coaching over the years is incredible

I didn’t watch his career but surely he must have had a decent run after 18. He ended up Man U’s all time top scorer after all.

He was good after but for me he was only world class in the early part of his career.
It’s easier to be top scorer when you are a starting striker at a top team from the age of 18-30. Don’t think he ever scored a phenomenal amount of goals per season, usually 15-20 if I recall

2 seasons he went 20+ league goals

@Hicksy2011 has it spot on imo, if he'd have been allowed to develop his natural game he'd have been something else, very very good player as he was but had the natural talent to be seen as a true great of the game(I said it when he left united, but it's amazing that someone who scored so many and won so much is almost seen as a disappointment to quite a few people as it always seemed like he had even more to offer that we never really saw often enough)

    Obviously all my opinion

2009/10 - 26 goals in the PL alone
2011/12 - 27 goals in the PL alone

I'm sorry but that is one of the worst takes I've read on this forum

He was great for many years
But aged 18 he was astonishing for his age, he should really have challenged Messi and Ronaldo but unfortunately he never got to that level

You also have to look at his partners at United

    05/06, 16 goals (rvn 21)
    06/07 14 (CR7 17)
    07/08 12 (CR7 THIRTY ONE)
    08/09 11 (CR7 18)
    09/10 26 (berba 12)
    10/11 11 (berba 21)
    11/12 27 (chica 10)
    12/13 12 (RVP 26)

    (league form only)

He scored a ton when he was the focal point, when there was someone else there to share the burden his goals dropped off dramatically, pointing more to the system not allowing him to be the main goalscorer as opposed to lack of form

    Everyone's taking a pay cut of 15% I think I read.
