Late rambling on P2W and packs

Let's clear the air by a small initial rant and call a spade a spade, okay.

Every one of you obsequious P2W/MTX-apologists -readily keen to line EAs pockets in droves for some (borrowed) transient non-redeemable fantasy-content to assuage your gambling guilt-effectively only act as a sentient bulwark for EA-- who at the helm of an increasingly rapacious industry aim to continue their predatory (child)gambling/pay-to-win brinkmanship.

What you're doing here is that you're only setting yourself (as a video game consumer) up for a raw deal by perpetuating a positive feedback loop predicated on acceptance of utter mediocrity and fraudulent intent. This in turn accrues layers of tolerance which ultimately limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion and choice. Mediocrity and iniquitous transactional rates becomes the norm, standardized, to milk you dry. And its incredibly harmful to every consumer across the board, even to 'whales' (read: wealthy participants), as the game tends to skew to a microtransactional farmville-esque type of endeavor that noone ever signed up for.

Meet ontological fallacy (#1):
"It's just a game".

Is it a game when lifes get ruined from addiction? Or that children develop illicit habits and stray from rational, healthy choices and get sucked into vortices of degeneracy and damnation? Is it just a game when gambling splits families and bears a major factor in suicides in western cultures?

When annual expenses soar north of hundreds-or even thousands quid-it becomes on par with (and beyond) expensive hobbies. Considering that none of the 'winnings' from this football-themed casino are redeemable and the added fact that these become fully obsolete at a neat cycle of 12 months, makes it a tough sell and a dubious and rather untenable hobby to boot. Think about it. Every year you're buying into an overpriced substandard copy-pasted product infested with unacceptable delay, fraudulent gambling, pernicious P2W, incompetent customer service, ignorant devs/CMs, atrocious gameplay capable of metamorphosing the most equanimous monk into an apopletic diabolical cur; the list goes on man.

(2)
a. The justification of P2W.
b. The refusal of acknowledging P2W and its effects.

a. Alright so people tend to falsely justify pay-to-win substructures by manifesting them as steadfast fundamental pillars of FUT. The truth is that you are monetizing the game by spending-at the very least-60 quid at launch. Done. This is an appropriate monetization scheme, people. That money should cover a year of otherwise mostly copy-pasted content.

..."Bbbut we need to pay extra for the frequent 'content' drops". -No, okay.
-It's like paying for that awkward intelligence insulting drivel of "TV-shop" commercial. The vast majority of this so called 'content' is a shameless moneygrab--designed to allure impulsive people to lighten their wallets.

..."Bbbut no P2W = no fut". -Absolutely ridiculous notion. EA profits from FIFA sales alone, and always have done. Not to mention the shameless 'early access' nonsense (read: delayed access for everyone else). And alluring super-elite-deluxe editions for an unwarranted hefty premium.

b. "haHAA! There is no P2W. Better players barely make a difference; check Bobs thread over at the forum as his WL results didn't change. And besides, there is trading, so it cannot be pay-to-win you silly goose!"

Your life is a function of time. Your life is finite. Therefore your time is finite. Time is also a resource, and the most valuable one at that; you have probably heard the familiar quip that time is money, well, it is. See it doesn't really matter how you try to spin it, the dichotomy of accruing virtual wealth on FUT is absolute, but it always boils to time=money. You could either opt for spending money, OR spending even more money (through opportunity cost) by spending time on arduous trading. But either way, the availability of trading does not refute that FUT revolves around P2W. You're merely choosing between two money sinks in order to beat the curve.

But what is P2W exactly? Well, in breviloquent terms, pay-to-win signifies the monetary shortcut to vastly accelerated cumulative acquisition of materialistic advantage that proves to be insurmountable for an opponent of similar playing strength.
FUT provides this. With a big enough budget and perhaps a little luck you can slingshot yourself way ahead of the curve-- essentially snowballing your advantage even more-as the more coins you have, the more you can make.

The massive advantage that a stacked team provides is unequivocally decisive and is a textbook local case of P2W. Whatever tiny substrata of people, likely burdened by a confirmation bias, claiming otherwise, is eviscerated by the sheer ubiquitousness of stacked teams in the higher ranks. Which is also the decisive common denominator.

Spending time on trading is not p2w...it’s actually the opposite.

After reading through this article I feel like I’m listening to my ex-wife’s attorney in court, this article was a headache and possibly gave me herpes in the eye. I’m not too certain you’re apart of this community, I'm more convinced you’re someone’s mom (that is an attorney) trying to dissuade people from playing.

An overuse of vocabulary ruins what could be some interesting points. 10 out of 10 for effort though.

My, you just defined the word pedantic... if you want people to listen to you, try not too put on a neon t-shirt that clearly spells out "superiority complex". Now there is nothing wrong with having a healthy vocabulary; however, if you've been on the planet long enough, you should know that people have a hard time listening to language like you've used here.

Maybe you feel like people never listen to you in real life? Or possibly you feel that most folks rarely take to seriously?

You seem like the type of guy who only wears black, rarely groom's themself, and keeps a well worn copy of Nietzche's Antichrist on hand in order to constantly prove your points...

At the end of the day, fifa is a video game. It's unfair, rarely functions properly, and is completely designed to get its users fully addicted. My advice is to take the game out of your console, light it on fire, and let it's existence fade away from your memory...
