EA will just take FUT away, then there will be true uproar. Those lobbying for the banning of FP's will be the loudest criers when EA no longer see it as viable to run UT.
We have seen they can't put out quality games anymore (Anthem etc), only thing keeping them alive is the millions they get from Fifa and Madden pack sales.
I have no issues with FP, as it's a business. My issue is pack weight. If people want to buy points, great, it's their choice of entertainment. The problem has always been...what do you get for the money spent....

Be careful what you wish for...
In all fairness I think I would rather see fut completely removed than it to continue on the path it's on. Saying that EA won't remove FUT if FPs are banned as they will already be losing profit so it wouldn't be a very smart business move to then push away alot of the community and see a big drop in sales aswell.

Yeah that won't happen because they care about player engagement and they know fifa would struggle without FUT
As much I love playing FUT, this wouldn’t be a bad thing. Microtransactions and loot boxes are the worst thing to ever happen to games and gamers.
Used to be you paid once up front and had the entire game. You may have had to work to unlock things but there was no paywall or pay to win. Then maybe you had one or two big expansions a year or so after release you could buy, but that gave you loads of new content. Now companies just want to squeeze players for every last penny. Hopefully things are changing.
Cant they just change it to selling coins? You could still use the coins on packs, or you could use it to buy players. That is what some other games do.
The current issue is that buying points only allows you to get packs. I believe that is where the loot box problems come up.
Just because a bill is introduced does not mean it will pass. Many countries including the UK have already determined that loot boxes are NOT gambling, and the US bill is aimed at games designed for children.
Fifa can just make it an 18plus title should the ban actually happen

That’s true and a suspect ea have influence somewhere but I don’t see democrats being the ones to turn this down and the bill is proposed by a republican so that will have some backing from Both sides. Who knows though
Might be the best thing that happened to gaming in a long time.
If EA makes FUT an 18+ game, they'll probably lose about 50% of their payerbase (you see what I did there, right? ).
At this point I don't actually care anymore what that would do to FUT, I just want to see EA brought to justice and found out for this truly awful online gameplay experience and customer shafting..

So they are just going to throw away 800 million dollars in micro-transactions? It might even be over 1 billion dollars this year.
If EA think it's no longer viable to run ultimate team then the share price is going to dive so hard and Andrew Wilson is so getting fired.
Ultimate team IS their business now. They will find a new way to monetize it that doesn't involve kids gambling and exploiting their user base for everything they can.
It's only a matter of time before loot boxes are regulated, EA will have to adapt.
All EA will need to do to keep selling FP is to stop making packs RNG.
By selling FP to buy players or specific players instead of packs, can’t EA make these less looking like gambling?
I don’t see any issue of buying FP to buy a specific player.
It’s the RNG of packs and FP that is being scrutinized. It’s basically gambling.
Take away RNG and EA should still be able to sell FP to buy virtual players, etc.

It certainly wouldn’t be the end of FUT. There are other ways of making money from in game purchases, for example they could monetise cosmetics in some way - works well in other games.
Coupled with, perhaps, a subscription model for FUT which gives weekly packs in order to maintain a live market, with different tiers of subscription offering better packs.
They could have a “create your own celebration” for £5 a pop and I’m sure they’d make millions of that alone
One things for sure: they will adapt. In other industries this is common, competition drives innovation, but EAs monopoly has made them greedy and lazy
Some great ideas that would improve fut and keep the money coming in have been posted.
Basically, You know what you're buying.
1. Buy coins
2. buy a specific player
3. buy squad fitness pack
4. buy a random pack of players, or pack of consumables.
many ways to make money, and we the purchaser know exactly what we are buying.
One thing I think most of us agree on is the quality of gameplay and servers has suffered terribly so that ea could carry on their pursuit of peoples cash.
Back around 2002-03 pro evo absolutely blew Fifa out of the water in terms of realism and gameplay, and this is the way it is heading again.
I wonder how the infrastructure of a company like ea will be affected if there is a ban in major countries on loot boxes. Could it even bankrupt them?

If FPs are still in FIFA 20 it will be the last year for sure.

It might actually see them make an effort with gameplay though.
Their incentive would be to make the game better so more new players continue to buy the game.
