If I did not have much time to trade etc then I would probably buy a few packs. For most it is harmless entertainment like going for an evening out at a casino, or the cinema etc.

Before Fifa I used to spend loads buying computer games, many would only be played for a few days. Now I very rarely buy any other game. RDR2 only one in the last year.

Time >>>=== Money. Most big spenders are adults with families and good enough jobs (limited time). We don't want to get good, to grind or any other word you kids throw around. I don't even enjoy opening packs as it's wasting my time. We simply like football, and we enjoy competitive play in the time we have available. For us it's a hobby and it's the cheapest we have by far.

Because i am an adult and have the disposalable income to afford it.

Put another way, on a random friday night when the missus is working, i could either go out and spend £80 -£100 on a night out getting messed up, or i could chuck £20 on fifa points and play fifa all night with a couple of quiet beers in the house.

One of the two options is far better for your health..............

I couldn't care less about what people do with their money but I don't understand why you and others feel the need to validate why you buy points.

OP just asked why we do. In your case you enjoy opening some packs with a few beers at the weekend.
Always makes me think people are insecure or feel defensive when they try to validate it by giving mathematical equations like that.

I agree with you though. You do you, do what you want :)

Eh? In a thread where the op asks why people buy points you're making noise about someone saying why they buy points?

Maybe the way I explained it was bad... I'm saying the reason why is he enjoys a beer and a few packs.

He then goes on to validate it when there is no need.

Well its a bit both. I enjoy beer and packs, but i can do that through the league SBC's (and i frequently do, i think i have done each of the "big" league SBCs in full 3 times, 4 for Germany).

The reason i buy fifa points, which was what was actually asked, was that i can afford it. I am financially secure, have no kids (Thank f****......scenes when you get beat at fifa by your own kids...) and I take a view on life that I have no issue spending throw away money on something which will give me a short term thrill (leaving my self a bit open there i suppose.......)

I dont validate for anyone, ya'all can think what you wish, i just answered the question the dude answered.

That's fair, I did mention others, It was just your post I quoted.

I don't care all that much I'm just stating my opinion that it sounds like some answers are as if their wife has asked them.

If you disagree with me that's also fair. Have a good evening fella x

Oof mate if the wife asked the answer is entirely different..........more like "fifa points, what are they?" :D

I’ve not bought any for a while but I’ve bought quite a few of them in the past.

Most of the fun in UT (for me) is planning and building different teams and trying different players. Opening a few packs every now and again makes that a bit easier.

I’m in a similar position to the guy above too. Married, good job, no kids and can afford it. I’m not going out drinking chasing girls anymore so I enjoy unwinding with a beer and a bit of Fifa.

Without Fifa I wouldn’t play games anymore I don’t think. Football has been a huge part of my life from playing, my season ticket at Sufc to Fifa. So a few quid every now and again on something I enjoy most of the time is money well spent for me.

So I'm hoping to see a lot of different answers here yet I have no idea what to expect.

Give me your opinion and not just the most popular opinion.

People who don't buy FP can reply but please don't go off-topic.

The reason I'm asking this is because I can't seem to find a rational explanation as to why people want to spend real money on a game that only last 12 months. And many people even do it year after year. For me, it looks like throwing money after something without getting anything in return.

So.. Why do you buy FIFA Points?

People with little time to play and extra income can use de FP to try and keep the pace with the game.

I used to spend $20 on FP monthly (not much but it was an expense) when work didn’t let me play much. Now I think I bought $20 on FP and no more.

If the income is not a issue and you don’t go buying crazy amounts, I think is not a big deal spending some cash in a game you enjoy.

I love the idea of grinding to get your team where you want it to be. Your team should be as good as you are by PLAYING the game and not PAYING.

Now to answer your question, I have paid for FP but only because at the end of the day, when I come across players my own skill level that should turn out to be great match ups, I get beat ONLY because they have these super teams that they have paid money for. So I've bought FP in order to keep up with other teams, not to get players I wish I had. Yes, there are players my own skill level that beat me fair and square and I do not mind that. I mind it when I get beat because their players have 99 stamina, 99 shooting 95 pace etc etc...100% gives them an edge

Because I'm an adult and a couple hundred bucks for hours of entertainment is a great value.

I have no idea why people get worked up over people buying Fifa Points. Granted, I am not spending thousands, but it doesn't even register in the top 100 trivial things I spend money on.

was not gonna spend coins on it this year around but got a 15% increase at work so might as well splurge on fifa for a sec

Pretty much my same answer. I don't go to bars or movie theaters - I rarely eat out. If I went to dinner, movie, and drinks every weekend id spend about $200 (each time). Thats all entertainment budget. As far as cost vs. Benefits it's the same thing in my eyes if I spent 200 on fp or 200 on going out - both are pleasure costs. Not that I spend 200 a week on fp though lol...

Edit: as a commentary, I feel that there is a huge amount of players in fifa who are adults (30+) - when compared to other titles. Generally adults have less time and more spending power. Pay-2-win is always going to be unfair for the majority of folks who are younger, live at home, and have less spending power.

A little bit at the start to help get my squad going. Then a little every couple months since I don't have the time to play WL more than like twice a year so I like to roll the dice and hope for something good. Then sometimes if I'm feeling down and hoping to pack something big to cheer me up (never works). Haven't gotten anything good from FP this year though, best i think was NIF Nainggolan. Big pulls from SBCs and Pre-order packs though

Even though most won't admit it, the majority of people who buy Fifa points are addicted to opening packs. It gives the brain a dopamine release, akin to winning on a horse, or hitting the jackpot on a slot machine.a

I'll admit it I'm one of them.

But I wouldn't do it if I didn't have the money to do it. But when everything is paid for, money put away for savings my desposible income while may come in use else where In life I waste it.

I need to stop but eh I've played nearly 1500 games already this year so I'm getting most out of what I've spent i guess.

It may give you a dopamine shot, but to say that the “majority” are addicted is a big statement to make. The overwhelming majority of gamblers are not addicted to gambling and the dopamine boost is far lower packing a top player than winning a large amount of money.

I’m not saying it’s not addictive, but I am saying you are talking about a small minority.

Because spending vast amounts of money on the game is ruining it.People are rewarding EA for nothing as they serve up a bad game every year with awful servers

While people keep spending money EA have no reason to change. This is why something like the battlefront 2 thing will never happen on Fifa.....The community is too hooked on packs to care

Whoever spends money on this game has no right to moan about the bad gameplay

I have a well paid job and enjoy playing FIFA and getting the players I want to play with. If I didn't have money spare I wouldn't spend it.

I think thats why there are some players who hate FIFA points so much, because they can't afford it, maybe some jealousy fueling the hate.

Not spent money for ages but when the right promo comes up I'll spend money on FIFA points.

I spent 300$ during Black Friday and packed two icon cards which set me up for a while once I sold them.

I always buy a few at the start of the game for a boost but then not much more. I don't mind spending real money for decent promo's but I haven't this year because everything has been so bad, from gameplay to promo's to SBC's, so I don't think they deserve my money.

Addiction/being able to afford it. I know how much you can do with money you spend on the game, but I just like to buy a few FP now and then. Must say that I haven't done it in about 4-5 months now because I honestly feel it's not even close to worth it anymore.

Because the time needed to grind the same amount of coins is worth more to me than buying a few packs.
Also because i can afford it and enjoy it.

There isn't 1 single reason why I bought FP.

I bought some when I got a message from my mate who's just packed Rivaldo Icon.
I bought some when I won a coupon and used some of it as to me it was 'free money'.
I bought some when there was the 2for1 packs offer on.

I have a relatively decent income with no kids to provide for so for me it wasn't needed elsewhere.

However the way EA have treated us gamers and even their own game this year has pushed me to quitting EA altogether after Fifa 19 is killed in September.

I'm done giving any money to EA now and I hope every country will follow Belgium by banning FP.

I've spent 40 euros in december after winnig a few hundred at the casino. Was tempted a few times but I have quite a decent team without spending much.

TBH that 40 euros did not get me anything good. I believe a few 84s.

Last year I've spent a bit more. And if most people were honest i think you'd get a lot more "i'm addicted to pack openings" comments. Because let's be honest; it's addictive as frock.

I dont because my Team can only get better by buying PIM Ronaldinho and PIM Vieira.
What are the chances to get both Iof then in packs?
