Playing against 4231 and 433 (HELP!)

Would you rather use 4312 or 3412?

I find that 3412 works great against 4231 either variation because it spreads the field out. However, when people play with all of their CAM's on stay forward, it puts my 3 cb's under some duress.

And 433 always kills 3412 because the wingers are usually so far wide it just spreads everything out.

Now on the converse side, 4312 is great against 433 because I have 4 defenders and they got everything situated. But against 4231 it struggles because of how narrow it is and since all garbage 4231 players do is just pile everyone in the box, I'll have no width at all.

So if you had to choose between those two, which one would you use?

Have you tried 5212 against 4231.
The lb/rb push there wide cams so far back and the 3 CB's actually tackle the lone striker.

Really seems to smother there counter attack gameplay.

I play mostly 442(2) with 7 or 8 depth and it works really well against any formation including 4231, which is used 80%+ in Div. 1 anyway

I found 4222 is good against them. But I use these garbage tactics myself when sealing the game off. Also 4321 but risky.

451 and 352 can do bits.

    Gives opponents overload trouble.
