watching this again. it just seems way too easy to score. i've watched highlights of the san antonio spurs playing like barca played football, which was pretty cool, but it seems pointless because it seems alls you have to do is just dribble a bit then take like 4 massive leaps while holding the ball and score an easy point.

When your troll thread turned into a legit thread and you try to derail it again

i'm asking a legit question. i gave up watching during the lakers gsw game because nothing impressive was happening. i didn't see where the massive skill was. i kept seeing lebron miss free throws which i thought was funny.

    Disrespecting the all time goat.
    Y i k e s

now is he actually the goat or is the goat in the same way people call cr7 the goat? alls i know about basketball is that san antonio spurs played tiki taka basketball with parker, ginobilli and duncan and the coach was called pop.

    Mah that will be Curry.
    LeBron is the Messi.

Curry is a great player and he changed the game with his insane 3-pointers, but there isn’t a Curry Lebron discussion, like there is a Messi CR7 discussion. No discussion like that in the media or even with fans. Everbody knows.

Lebron James for me is the second best player ever.

Dont say its Michael. Please dont

    Of course it is Michael.

Even MJ said it’s Bill Russell. He won 11 championships in 13 years without another superstar to help him like MJ did with Pippen or LBJ did with Wade and Kyrie. He even beat the OG big 3 in West, Chamberlain and Baylor in the 1969 finals. And he was the player-coach then! But for some reason people never include him in the GOAT discussion.

Thing is we can’t compare players from different era’s. Russell was the GOAT then, MJ in his era and LBJ in this era.

as much as an egomaniac he is he was being humble and paying tribute to another great from a by gone era. Jordan is GOAT, not even up for debate.

MJ always said it’s about Championships. That’s why he rates himself over LBJ or Kobe but under BR.

I still don’t think you can compare players from different era’s in sports.

Lebron is the goat . Jordan couldn't even get out of the first round of the playoffs without Pippen.
Lebron has carried two of the three worst teams of all time to the finals. The cavs are gonna be a top 3 pick just because he left. Lebron will be top 10 in points, assists, and steals before he retires . Deserves the MVP every year but doesn't get it because of voter fatigue . Took the lakers that have been god awful for a few years and now they are gonna be a top 3 seed in the west in one year . Name one thing Jordan did better than Lebron? You can't . And don't say he was more clutch because Lebron has actually hit more game winners- game tying shots than Jordan did .

guys what makes lebron the goat? in football it's easy to see the best players because it's the ones who score lots of goals because it's hard to score goals. in basketball it's pretty easy to score, so what separates lebron from everyone else in that respect?

adding on to this, with someone like steph curry, from what i understand he's really good at shooting from far (think those are the three pointers), so it's easy to see why he's better than loads of others. is lebron really good at those too?

i was watching last night and didn't really see anything that made me go wow. honestly they were just running back and forth and scoring. they'd dribble like 3/4 up the court, then just take like 3 or 4 big leaps and dunk it, but every player was doing it so i was like okay... guess that's not difficult.

Yes but that has a different reason too. You rate the player that you “grew up with” always the highest. That’s why for so many people aged 20-30 Lebron is the GOAT. For older people it’s MJ. Has to do with them being an idol for a kid/teenager/tweener but when you pass a certain age you don’t idolize rockstars or NBA superstars anymore. That’s why for example Ronaldinho is my GOAT even though I know Messi is better for a waaaaay longer period.

Hence why the whole debate is stupid. They never competed against each other so you can’t say who is the GOAT. You can only name the greateast of an era.

Nobody is answering because of things like this
can someone show me some good basketball. i just watched a 4 minute clip on twitter of lebron scoring and it was the same two tricks every time that didn't look that tricky. one where he just decides to stop bouncing it and runs about 10 yards to the basket for a dunk bc you can't touch people apparently (what happened to no travelling btw?). failing that he'd just have his back to the defender, fake one way, step back and shoot. he scored some from some nice angles but it weren't that impressive to me. more impressed with some of the passes tbh.

You don't know what a 3 pointer is but you know about travelling?

a three pointer is from far-ish away isn't it? obviously i know about travelling. one of the fundamental rules of basketball is no travelling. when you play it in school you're told no travelling. i'm confused now because i thought i knew what a three pointer was (not exactly how far but the general idea).

also what's the rules with contact with your own team? because even though it'd look ridiculous. why couldn't you just sit on someones shoulder and cover the basket.

Goaltending. You can’t swat a ball away from a shot when it’s going in a downwards trajectory towards the basket. Rule that got enforced when Wilt Chamberlain entered the league. Fun fact the 3 second rule is also because of Wilt. They needed to enforce rules because he was too powerful of a player for the league.

Nah I disagree. I never idolised any athelete. I feel like someone well educated can make an unbiased opinion. Like someone who is old enough to of seen both play and lived through both eras can know who was better. And differentiate that from who they liked more. Iverson is my favourite player of all time but i know jordan is the goat. Watched LeBron since when he was in high school and he's never got near that goat status. Ronaldinho isn't your goat, he's your favourite player and you even stated that.

Yes because some can look past that, but most can’t. So asking a 40+ year old who is their GOAT will almost always be a player they saw growing up. I haven’t seen MJ play enough live to make a educated comparison between MJ and Lebron. I do think Lebron is the best of his generation including Kobe. Always enjoy watching old footage of MJ or Bill Russell or even the bad boys Pistons (saw a great docu about that squad recently).

We should all just be thankful to witness greatness in sports. In the end who really cares who was the best ever.

I’m 29 now watched as a kid sometimes but really got into it when I was studying (you know staying up late nothing on when you get home from a night out except NBA) and now I’m addicted. Even run a dutch hobby NBA website) when I’m not too busy freelancing. I think it’s the most exciting sport to watch because something beautiful is happening every 24 seconds. I can truly advice you to go watch the play-offs. You’ll learn all the rules in a game or two and after that it’s so much fun to watch!

I’m certainly biased, but the playoff atmosphere is why I became a Celtics fan. I’ve been to a number of NBA arenas, but Boston is unlike any other. It feels like a playoff game every night.
